  • Beautiful cars and mad driving... is there more that you could ask for?
Especially after seeing how much fun last year looked like, there was no chance that I would pass up on the chance to leave Raincouver behind and travel to sunny SoCal for the third iteration of N.A. Nonsuri at Apple Valley Speedway.
Nonsuri, derived from the terms 'non-slipping differential' and ‘matsuri’ which means festival in Japanese. This style of event began in Hokkaido and since expanded across the country (thank you kaidoracer.com for the definition). I had gone to my first nonsuri events in Fukuoka and Gunsai during my recent escapade in Japan, and had the time of my life. This is a style of car like none other, styled up to be fun, loud, and driven hard.
N.A. Nonsuri is an event started by the Moonlight Runners in 2021 to bring the fun over to this continent and provide us the opportunity to join in. One thing I love about MLR is their dedication to getting everything right, down to the details, and this event is no exception. Everything was well thought-out and organized, all we had to do was show up and have fun.
This year they invited legendary team BYD to attend which meant that everyone had to bring their A-game when building their cars to show them what we've got, and so they did. After seeing the car that MLR built for last year's N.A. Nonsuri I knew that they had something crazy in the works, but I was not ready for how sensational their car for this year's event turned out.
The best part of the day was not only getting to see friends from all over North America, but also enjoy how much effort they had each put into building their cars, which all turned out fantastic. Seeing the cars on the track during parade lap, or on the skidpad for the official nonsuri, was surreal.
I especially loved all of the teams and team cars that attended, because the team aspect is one of my favourite parts of these events. Hopefully next year I'll be able to drive down with our own team car and join in on the fun. But for now, if you're in the area and want to have a great time, I highly recommend attending the next year's NA Nonsuri, which I'm sure will be even better than we could imagine.
Hope you enjoyed the video! Thank you again to MLR for hosting us, BYD for coming out to support us, and everyone who attended and built a great car.

WOW I skated hills with Zach 10 years ago. What a trip to see him in this video in another world, the silver jacket fella who helped build whatever the hell that car with the red flames is.

    このカスタムは…
    当時のシルエットフォーミュラ(グループ5)の派手なレーシングカーを真似た改造のことを「チバラギカスタム」と呼んでいたのです。 名称の由来は、(千葉・茨城)近辺で多く見られる改造車です
