Beautiful shrimp, I wish I could get polar bear in the U. S. I understand why we can't but it is frustrating to see such beautiful patterns and not be able to join in the creation of these wonderful shrimp. I use a substitute. Thanks for sharing the pattern. All the best, Sean

I used snoeshoe rabbit foot recently. Looks like it may work as a substitute? The foot hair is longer than you would think.

No the hook will point down. suggested colors. You can tye it in any color you like. you can try to addapt it to you home waters. hope this can help.

Out standing again , you are a true artist .Do you think normal mono filament with burnt ends and then coloured orange with a sharpie would have the same effect for the eyes as I am not sure what Burnet Nylon is , plus what do you recommend instead of Polar Bear as thats pretty difficult to get ,again fantastic tying.

nylon is monofilament "my mistake" yes you can use that. And do as you decripe. If you then dip the colored ends in UV it will be really nice :-)

Thank you for your reply , I would imagine any bright white hair would be suitable instead of Polar bear ,I have some goat hair that may do ,also are you aware that Polar Bear hair is hollow
Thanks again and I look forward to your next creation

Hi Stuart. the reason for using the polar hair is that the hairs hav a little flasy light through probably because it is hollow :-)

PB isn't hollow. It is however translucent, I've heard it's to allow sun to penetrate to the bear's skin, heavy crinkled underfur.

Have you tied this on a tube? It would lso be helpful to get the recipe for this fly.

No I have not done that. But it would be possible to do.
I will the next couple of days put ind the pattern.
