When I vacuum seal my "poky" items in Mylar I use a brown paper lunch sack and do NOT FOLD OVER or close the end of the bag! I cut it where the rice/beans/popcorn/pastas are just barely covered. I put in a paper lunch sack and then put in a mylar bag and it doesn't poke through the bag and still vacuum seals completely. Although I do have many dry items sealed in mason jars I am in an earthquake area so glass is not my friend. I like to take a sheet of the foam board from the dollar tree and cut strips to place between my glass jars then am very careful to ensure they are not stacked too high. YES I have a hand brake bleeder that I use paired with the jar attachments and vacuum seal my jars that way. I like that I can reseal my jars without using electricity.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing the information. It's always great to hear how other people handle it. Luckily where I'm at earthquakes are very unlikely but I could see in some areas how it would be a big concern.
