- Super customisable pattern. You can adjust the pattern to fit your size. Color(s) are your preference :)
The measurements for this tutorial:
waist= 65cm
hips= 85cm
belly button to crotch= 23cm Хобби
I love how you got night to the point!!This turned out beautifully
Ok i made these shorts and i wanted to make some notes for my fellow big hips and butt girlies
1. Make the waist band large enough to just fit over your hips and butt. Trust me
2. I had to do another row of increases after the last one in the video. I just increased every 4 stitches in the back.
3. The waistband is probably going to be loose if you have a smaller waist compared to your hips/butt. To get around this, use elastic on your waist band OR what i did is just use yarn to make a drawstring
I love how you got right to the point! This turned out beautifully.
thank you
I'm so glad to see another creative crochet designer on this platform. Please show the finished product and explain more about the types of yarn you use or could be used for the adventurist beginner. But the rest of your tutorial is fantastic! Best wishes with your channel. ❤
just finish these shorts today !! i love them and the pattern is so pretty :) it took me about 4 days to finish them :)
Love this tutorial!! So easy to follow as a beginner & im very please with the results. Thank you 😊
Ahhhh I’m so glad to hear this, thank you ❤️🥰
Olivia your tutorials are so clear and great, I love everything that you have made uptil now🥰 Can you please post a tutorial for a cool sweater or pullover.
These colors go so well togerther😍💓
Amazing tutorial thank h so much. Just subscribed! Looking forward to more content
I am absolutely obsessed with these shorts! this is my third-ever crochet project and I found it actually super simple to follow and surprisingly easy! Also these shorts make my booty look 🔥 love ur work xx
Yayyyyy I’m glad you love them ! Hahaha yes they do make the booty look🔥🤣
this is weird but when you wear them can you see your undies through the little gaps? cause i’ve started making them but i’m paranoid about that happening
@@eeeeeeeeeee5516 just wear undies the same colour as the pants/ wear the same colour undies as your skin. Nobody really notices- that’s what I do :)
very easy tutorial to follow, will definately return to this vid when i want to make pants
I am trying to do this and it is turning out well
thank you so much for such an amazing and easy tutorial! I just finished my shorts and they are now my favourite crochet project!
ahhh thank you, makes me so happy because I love these shorts too1
At the beginning, I would like to know if after the orange I have to do a class of two or a class of three double crochets please ?
Love this tutorial!! Does anyone know if I can use a 5mm hook? Thank you!
Hi I live in Australia and having trouble finding the yarn so I used my stash mostly wool, would any cotton yarn be suitable The wool ones turned out ok but was a bit stiffer if that makes sense I like the floppy look of the cotton yarn
documenting how long this will take me
day 1 : starting today did the whole waist band thing ( about 2 hours)
day 2 : started the actual shorts
day 3: did all of the shorts except for the leg part
day 4 : finished them up
this was one f the fastest and easiest projects i've done (haven't done many though) and it probably took me around 5-7 hours. I watched a few movies and shows while crocheting which made it really fun. Highly recommend.
Update?
It took me 6 months bc i was too lazy to buy more yarn 💀
How many grams of yarn did you use?
hi I’m a bit into making these and my seam is going sideways should I start over or just keep going, would it make that big of a difference?
Excelente tutorial👏👏👏
So cool! What size yarn did you use?
The holes in mine are too big should I still skip the next stitch?
I love this tutorial, thank you!! Could you possibly link the yarn your used, as I can't find similar colours online, thanks!
does anyone know where it's from?
@@isabellahargreaves8620 in another comment she said vinnis colours!!
Been loving this pattern but just realised I had been making my seem go sideways like your other pair of shorts so have to unwind it all 😢
what size yarn are u using
i absolutely love this pattern!! i was just wondering how to make the waistband more stretchy because as soon as i add the single crochet at the bottom of the waistband it looses its stretch! i may be doing it wrong tho ahaha
Mmmmmm are you adding enough single crochets ?
Use smaller hook when u do waistband.
Probably a little late but I had the same issue until I realised I forgot to chain one after every stitch!
You could do slip stitches for the ribbing
You could also try the stretchy foundation chain.
Would love to do this pattern for my 9 year old granddaughter, what dimensions would I use to fit her little hips?
This took me about 3 days, 7 hours spread over 3 days but mine are a bit too small sadly so they’re very tight. So i want to remake them and make the waistband a bit bigger so it all goes well :))
Lovely ❤
Thank you. ❤
I am french and I don't speack very well english but I'll try to make this crochet short because it's so lovely 🙂
Goodluck 🤞🏻 feel free to message me on Instagram if you need help :)
Thank you. I think it will be ok with this video 🙂👍...and I'm not on instgram
would back loop half double crochets work for the waistband instead?
You can try :)
Hello! I was just wondering how much yarn this project used up as I only have 100 grams of my yarn and its been discontinued. This is an amazing tutorial :)
Hey, I’m not sure if I remember correctly but I used 3x 50g balls of yarn.
@@Oliviatully28 thank you so much!
Thank you for this super detailed tutorial! What size hook did you use?
Thank you Xx I used a 2.5mm crochet hook :)
what type of yarn is this?!
Merciiii pour la traduction 🤩
My waistband isnt stretchy at all, help😭am i tightening it too much?
do you increase every single round?
No
What type of yarn do you use?
I use Cotton
do you think i can use a 3.25 mm needle?
You can
Hi Madam, I just wondering about the short size for 18 size how many chain would I with cotton wool ?
what yarn did you use for the shorts? :)
Cotton - vinnis Colours, Nikkim collection
Is the current pattern high waisted? Thanks!
its kind of high waisted, but you can adjust the pattern accordingly suit you :)
can I just use half double crochet for the band instead of what she did?
You can use any stitch you want just go through the back loop
How much yarn did you use?
I used about 300g of yarn but it could differ
I love you work! What is the material of the yarn? Is it 100% cotton? Or can you use polyester
I use 100% cotton, it’s last longer and feels way nicer. But you can use polyester, it’s up to you :)
@@Oliviatully28 thankyouuuu
@@Oliviatully28 did you find cotton doesn’t stretch as much though?
whenever i do the single crochet row and then the rows to start the shorts, they start to bunch up the waistband. When i pull them apart so its straight, the holes between each bunch of doubles are super big. Do you have any idea of how to fix this?? i used a waistband of single crochets if that's the problem
Hey so the only thing I can think of is that you are doing to little single crochet. What you must do is count the number of rows you did for the waistband and then match the amount of single crochets with the rows of the waist band ( for example if I do 110 rows of the the waist band, I’ll try do 110 single crochets around the waistband.) - idk if that makes any sense
@@Oliviatully28 i got it fixed!! thank you!!!
@@marinad9148 hii can I ask how u fixed it? Did u use a larger sized hook? I'm having the same problem haha
@@lx8435 yes okay so i was accidentally doing each double into a separate stitch. you should do all three in one stitch!!
@@marinad9148 I only saw your reply now haha, thank u so much!
I’m currently making this project, and how am I supposed to get this waist band up and over my butt. Cotton yarn isn’t that stretchy
You can do more rows… & then sew an elastic into the waist and instead of doing a draw string
Quantità cotone?
I just took my measurements and I have to increase the size of the pattern a bit compared to your dimensions, how do I do that? I just started crocheting and I'm not very comfortable with it yet haha
Crochet the ribbing until it's a slightly less than your measurement. It should fit when stretched lightly. If it's stretched to the max just to fit, I would add a little more to give you some wiggle room. Keep track of how many rows you are making as you make it. When it's the right length, put the same number of single crochets around the top of the ribbing as rows you have.
In the video, the ribbing is 58 cm which she states is about 7cm less than the actual waist measurement. So, for instance, if your measurement is 120cm maybe go with 110-115cm. She then makes 104 single crochet into the top of the ribbing because she has 104 rows. So, if you have 220 rows, place 220 single crochet stitches around the top of the ribbing. Everything else should be the same. Since you're making it to fit you, you might need to make it longer or shorter before you start the legs and you might want to make the legs longer. That is up to personal preference and your body type.
Good luck!
@@Krissyrocksoutloud thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I think I'll get there!!
What are the names of these shades of yarn?
natural, princess peach, princess aqua & orange- the brand of yarn I used is called Vinnis colours
Hey, i love this pattern. But i have a problem with the waistband because my hips and my waist have a large size difference. That way it is either too tight around my hips and i can’t pull it up or too loose around my waist. Do you have any idea how i can solve this
Im sort of having the same issue and i'm going to try a few things but i think that just increasing more and faster should do the trick... like i started increasing in the first row instead of the third and might even start increasing in 2 more spots in the back as i get further down to make it fit my butt
Hey, I’m sorry about this, you could make the waist bigger and then make a draw string for the shorts ( make a chain then weave the chain through the top of the shorts so you can tie it) or you could make the waist band longer so it can fold over then crochet an elastic in the fold. Idk if that makes any sense.
@@Oliviatully28 this wasn't my comment but I was having the same problem so thanks for responding :)
What’s the name of the stitch you used?
I don’t really know, I like to think it’s a mini cluster of sorts
on average how many days does this take to make?
If you do little bits at a time you can make it in a week I’d say, I made these in a day( like just going at it all day 😂)
For some reason my gaps are a little bigger than in the video, do you know what I could be doing wrong?
Could be tension, or chaining too many between each stitch or you might not be doing 3 joint double crochets 🤔 also if you want smaller gaps maybe try 4 joint double crochets, I think this may helps but I’ve never tried it :)
So what if I wanted to make a size xs?
That is an Xs
I’m just about to start the leg holes and I tried it on to see how they fit. Turns out I made them a bit too big. Wondering if there’s an easy fix to that
How big is too big? If it’s not that big, once you’re done you can make a chain then weave it through the waist band so it’s a draw string.
@@Oliviatully28 thanks for replying! It’s more the hips that are the issue:/ they’re doing that thing you mentioned where they puff out from the increases. I’m thinking about weaving elastic thread around them but was hoping for another solution!
@@kimdonahue4344 ok…. Just thinking, you can also sew in a thick elastic if you have a sewing machine. I have made a crochet skirt where I explain how to do this.
@@Oliviatully28 okay I’ll check that out! Thanks:)
Can u use any yarn? Or do it need to be this stretchy
I would say cotton would be your best bet.
What brand yarn did you use?
Vinnis colours
@@Oliviatully28 thank you!!🥰❤❤🙏
How many balls of each Color did you used in the end?☺️
Oh gosh, I can’t remember I think maybe 1 of each and 2/3 of white
thank you 🙏
What is the material of the yarn?
100% cotton - if that’s what you’re asking ?
what is the weight and ply of the yarn if you dont mind?
Dk light worsted & I think it’s 4ply
@@Oliviatully28 thank you so much!!
could i make this with just two colours ?
Of course ! You can make it however you like 💫✨
Can these be made into pants if you kept crocheting down the leg?
Absolutely!!! Also if you want if bell bottom or to flare out a bit on the lower part of the leg- just increase accordingly(to how you like it :)
@@Oliviatully28 Amazing! I'm currently making pants now for coachella, if I wanted to decrease the stiches around my knees /lower legs how would you suggest that?
@@brittanylauren7577 I actually haven’t tried to decrease but I’m just thinking you can either skip gaps or not chain one in between the stitches( leaving no gap to work in on the next row) - I’m not sure if that makes any sense.
@@Oliviatully28 That's what I was thinking! I just didnt mess it up haha thank you!!!! :)
@@brittanylauren7577 I would love to see the result if you have finished them! I was thinking of making pants too ☺️
How long is the waistband? My chain of 17 seems to look longer than yours. Is there a measurement?
Oh gosh, I can’t remember. You can adjust yours according to to preference
What kind of yarn is that?
Cotton. Dk light worsted Xx
what yarn did you use? love these!
Vinnis Colours, Nikki collection.
Bonjour. J'aime bien ce short. Mais est-ce qu'on voit a travers quand on le porte avec ce point?
Merci
Belle journée
Not really. But one could line them.
@@Oliviatully28merci
Is the yarn 2.5 mm??
I’m not sure what you mean by that. It’s Dk yarn. I just use a 2.5mm needle because I prefer it & I have a loose tension
How do I make it bigger if it’s to small?
Make more rows at the waist band(obviously to fit you) so that you’ll have more stitches to work in :)
Thank you. My waist fits your pattern but my hips don’t. Is there anyway for me to make that part baggier?
@@kionasankar4110 yes , just increase in more stitches

Your tension and technique is too loose and sloppy. Your hook gets caught too much, and you don't project like you're proficient.
thank you :( please could you recommend a solution to this issue, I would appreciate it xx
There is no right and wrong for crocheting!!! This is your point of view but I think she is actually pretty good, and the end result is great :)
Why so negative? This is an amazing tutorial and just like mili bern said everyone crochets in a different way:)
That wasn’t very nice.
