I keep raving about Rangitoto island...told these guys to do Rangi on a sunny day...so awesome. My happy place, I'm living in Otautahi Chch, so miss my fav volcano :-) The reason I love it and suggest doing it on a sunny day, as they reckon the heat on the lava fields can go over 50 deg celcius!! And you guys will get a gentle climb until the summit where it gets steeper. At least u will get shade, and u 2 will love the view! I reckon u would have watched Jahs Rangi video...he is cool!

I’m an Asian, middle eastern South African & NZ is so exotic and unusual to me.
Half of NZ is friendly, the other half is SO COLD and stand-off-ish. I find it odd to not touch people when you first meet them.

Sadly lots of kiwis are that way...there is this percieved threat from overseas folk. I have struck it in Canterbury especially against Aucklanders, It hurt deeply at the time, but I recognise it for ignorance on their part. Stay positive and recognise that people all around the world can be "that way" I just ignore it and find another way to connect. It's all about respect. And that goes both ways
