yo my man gee moon legit carrying a hand held stool to just chill and have a coffee and a bun. that's certified dope right there.
the shot of the kid with all the string foam was TOO fire
actually im still watching and so many beautiful photos
I thought so too, should make a great print
I love the anthropological lens of someone living and shooting in these communities. I love when the walkie-talkie photographers are as knowledgeable as Gee Moon Tom.
GMT has great NYC style. He's confident, laid back, thoughtful, intelligent, and proud of his heritage. In those ways, he's a lot like many of the photographers Paulie spotlights in this series---and he's a lot like Paulie in that respect, too. I really admire GMT's approach to capture a place and a sense of story. Really hoping he gets that project out this year. Gorgeous MP, too!
My favorite Saturday morning activity, is breakfast with Paulie B!
This walkie-talkie might be my favorite one. Gee has an authentic dope swag, and I love the pace he has with his photography. Take your time, and don't rush it.
I met and hung out with Gee a few times during my time in NYC. Let me tell you, because of him my time there was significantly better. He showed my around sunset park too and I also have a video planned for that when the time comes. I'm really happy to see him represented on your channel. He's one of the real ones making the story of NYC history a living thing, not just stuck in the past but in the present. Thanks Gee and Paulie for the good work.
Carries his own chair. He’s all about the vibes, gotta love that.
Haha, so I watched this, then went to his website. Then saw he had a Toronto, Canada section (my hometown), then saw pictures of my friends fire spinning at Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market. I couldn't make it out that one in July. Crazy how close a NYC photo suddenly got to me after seeming so far when I was watching the video. 👍
That was great to watch, I was so engrossed in it that I was sad to see this one finish. The more I watch them, the more I see how different photographers work over there, but also the cultures of different parts of the city.
So much love for Gee Moon..one of the coolest persons I've met serendipitously. Happy to see him on on this brilliant series 💚
Something very cool about this guy. The clothes, the rings, the head scarf. The chair slung over his back. Calmly moving through the crowds like a friendly shark 😀 - really enjoyable photos
NEMOOOOO!!! - Never Not Riding - Huge fan of this dude and his overall style.
Of all the walkie talkies, this one is still probably my favourite. Great interview with GMT, great setting, great photography.
Very calm and respectful, this is the way.
Brilliant. I love this series so much, I hope Gee does put out that book that he mentions, I would certainly want to buy :-)
Going in, I knew this video is gonna be another banger. I was right but also at the same time didn’t expect it to be self reflecting for me. Couldn’t help but relate myself to Gee in various ways. Especially with how immigrant parents view this craft because I deal with it myself. Love this video!
best photography series on RUclips by far
Scrolling through these photographers' ig while listening to their episode of walkie talkie, is so inspiring. Thanks Paulie ❤️
Your longer edits of these are cool. Aint noone rushing, this aint tiktok. loving it! thanks!
Really appreciate you highlighting guys like this. Love his work and his style, but really appreciate his authenticity and unique knowledge about a specific place and culture!
So happy to see Gee Moon on here! Keep up the good work!
This one was dope man. I liked that it was a little more on the documentary photography side of things. Great shots throughout!
“It’s passion! Doing sth we love.”
So true! Doing street photography is enjoying!
It's fun that his hat say "Fotografo", as photographer but in italian :D
this is probably my fave series on RUclips - please never stop making Walkie Talkie
wonderful. wonderful. what a lovely person. and i love the quality of the pictures... not clinical, but powerful. they could pass off as pictures from another time.
oh, and i love the culture lessons along the way. you can tell how much it means to him.
I haven't watched this yet and already know I'm gonna love it. This series is so inspirational and I WILL be signing up to Patroen for the extended versions.
This series is what it’s all about! It’s so inspiring to hear from everyone in the NY street photography community and hear their approach and mindset. Paulie you’re a G for doing all this. The way you interview and document the whole process is amazing!
One of my favorite episodes yet
Excellent episode, interesting guy.
He looks a bit like a slimmer version of Action Bronson (huge fan)
Thanks for sharing.
I really like his work and style
This was a dope Walkie talkie. His style dope.
That MP is a true gem!
love these conversations about photography. Thanks for your great work!
This was a great episode! He seems so calm when he’s talking photos and just like he is truly enjoying the creative process which is so beautiful to watch
Another great episode 👏
This popped up on my list. It's great! A nice guy too! I like his perspective on B&W. I like both color and b&w, but that's me! Different strokes, I guess.
Dude carrying a chair is killing me! 😂
and again, thank you so much for this amazing videos, it inspired me so much
Moon is the man! I know him personally and he is REAL 🙌🏼🔥
Great episode. He has a ton of potential. Will buy the book.
Thank you, Paulie B, for bringing these walk and talks.
Another joyful episode! Thanks Paulie!
Another great episode. Please keep doing these forever Paulie.
Wow, never knew about this guy. Thanks for this! His stuff is great.
These are so good! Love the content!
I like this guy. I grew up in Richmond, BC. A suburb of Vancouver. All my friends were from Hong Kong in elementary school. There was a big immigrant bump in the 70s and 80s to Vancouver. I was the odd kid out being white in my neighbourhood. I got my ass beat constantly. But we had so much fun.
It was cool bumping in to you today @ macy’s bro! Extra hyped for this new vid.
This content is always great. Love this series.
I love how you capture these videos man
Love this series so much Paulie, keep killing it man.
I'm re-watching the whole series recently and I've been looking forward to this specific episode so much since I remember how much I loved his style of photography and just his relaxed and positive overall attitude.
I'm kinda sad I'm living in a smaller town in Europe where there isn't really a community like this. I would love being able to photograph my community and surroundings but all I got is my friends, family and the next bigger city I visit on a weekly basis to shoot there.
I agree with homie! B&W is the ish fr fr 👍🏾🙌🏾
What an fantastic video about a great photographer! Please keep these coming!
Moon Tom is a real one! Good shoutout to Corky Lee too. Ton yan gai forever!!!
My guy Gee Moon!!!! Great video!!!
I have to remember to use a slower shutter sometimes. The blurriness in some of his photos make them more powerful than actually freezing the action.
This was great. Thank you
another great one here
Love this video. And love this series.
Keep up the great work 🙌🏾
He should definitely publish his work
Great episode 🎉
Great episode. Gee Moon know his stuff! And great to see someone referring to the website, not only Insta. Look at both - and see what makes photographic meaning for you. For me a website is just so much better for photos, than the endless stream of images on Insta....
Another hit, Paulie!🍻
great episode
Dude is super cool. Great episode.
Dope vid like always. 💪🏽
Where did Gee get that stool I need to get one
Amazing inspiration!
Thanks for this interview. Really enjoyed Gee's perspective, point of view and his laid back persona. Seems like a very wise man! That said, I still don't "get" why people shoot with the MP (and it's M3 /M2 antiquated rewind knob!). Yeah, you'll def miss shit rewinding your spent film with it! Cheers!
Brilliant!
If you ever see Gee Moon tell him if he has a small booklet with about 30 street prints in it that fits in your back pocket, he can show this and they won't feel so threatened, it works for me especially around dealers on the street, it just stops confrontation once they see your work.
Great video!
Beautiful episode. Cool ass dude too.
Nicely done guys. ❤
One thing I enjoy about this is I get to observe a photographer in the moment as opposed to being a photographer in the moment. An observation I have from that though is you really cant tell when someone presses the shutter beside by noise lol, and I’m always worried about that
another banger ty
Can anybody ID the tripod chair? I want to make one, but I'd like to spec out the one Gee Moon Tom is using. I really dig the way the strap wraps around the legs as he's got it on his shoulder.
This was a nice walk.
His hat is cool as hell
As someone who doesn’t have much experience in photography, I never thought you could wear sunglasses while using a viewfinder/rangefinder to take photos lol
this is better than watching those kids talking about bull shit.
i like homie’s style
its 777 likes and i want to press like but dont want to mess it up u know what i mean.
Paulie when you gonna come across the water and visit the UK ?
Amazing episode! Anyone knows what sling bag he is carry??
Chinatown is colorful, black and white seems an odd choice. I love his philosophy on shooting.
Maybe I missed it but what are the two sticks he is carrying?
It’s a three-legged stool. He’s sitting on it in the early part of the video
Where’s the scarf from though?
🖤📷🖤
Sometimes you interview noobs and this time you interviewed a pro
Where did he buy that snazy butt tripod!?
Love this series, and this photographer seems awesome. I'm looking forward to checking out his work. But please note, Taiwan is not a part of China. It is a sovereign nation that is constantly under threat from China. Yes, there are ethnically Han Chinese people who live here (I'm in Taiwan) and people speak Mandarin, but this does not mean that they are a provence of China. Thanks!
the funny thing is that China has banned fireworks across the country due to increasing air pollutions...So now the NYC Chinese New Year celebration is more authentic.
2:22 NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
He’s keeping his business options open in China.
who wants to chill wit GMT drinkin biers wit yuge platters dim sum, sumwhere on the 8?
@2"20 "most people there are Taiwanese people, and that's a whole different part of China too". 🤨
Wtf is fujifilm phase?
Taiwan is a whole different part of china too… y’all
I mean it is part of the sinosphere
