I absolutely adore the natural stone, but my goodness what alot of manpower you put into it. I miss a fireplace in my home. I used to love to decorate mine. 💕💕💕
This is certainly much to love about a fireplace! I am so happy with the outcome. Time for a story in front of a well lit fire🏡🪵🔥! Have a wonderful day, Mary!🌷
There are many reasons people paint stone, wood, metals .......thank HGTV for lots of this as most of their decorators love to paint white or gray on every remodel or restoration they do. It lightens and brightens the rooms and is preferable to paint rather than tear out . Trends come and go and it looks like this is one trend that is waning. Each generation wants to change from the previous one as a method of "modernizing" . Mid Century Modern has made a huge comeback whereas ten years ago decorators would have gasped at the possibility. The return of brass hardware is also a big change from just 5 years ago! Remember--to each his own"!!! That being said what you have done here is breathtaking! I would have kept the whitewash but this is sooooo much more lovely--great job!!! TFS!!
OH WOW!!!! Absolutely Beautiful!!! A ton of work but so worth it in the end ♥️ Why would anyone want to paint over something as gorgeous as those beautiful stone!! Oh what fun to decorate now!!! Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your week 😀♥️💐
Thank you, Melanie❤️! Decorating on this stone is always going to be a highlight for me. The look and feel is just so therapeutic. Have a wonderful day!🌷
Let me tell you Bev...you are my hero! I agree...why would anyone white wash over that beautiful stone fireplace!!! I can't wait to see Part 2 on how you decorate it. What a joy that will be! You are an excellent teacher, you explained and walked us through that process of stripping that paint off like a pro. I loved seeing it being transformed. It was a delight to the eyes to see the original stone!
Ohhhhhh Bev that is probably the most beautiful thing I have seen you do on your channel. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I do not understand either why anyone would want to paint stone or brick. It's beyond me. Thank you for your vision and your exquisite design passion. 🤎
I'm so in shock that they painted that beautiful stone. But what a wonderful job you have done and can't wait to see the finished fireplace. A painter wanted me to paint over 200 yr old stone and I promptly told him NO!! Your fireplace is going to be gorgeous and can't wait to check it out. You did such and amazing job!
Holy WOW!! Look what you did with hard work and perseverance! You are a rock star. I cannot wait to see the many ways you style this beauty and I hope you get a rush every time you look at it. I learn so much from your videos; thank you for sharing your talents and skills...wishing you peace and joy ahead.
Oh how hard you have worked, but how it has paid off for you! Looks so beautiful ! I know every time you look in your living room from now on you will look at it with such pride! I look forward to watching you pull it all together. I know it will all be beautiful!
Hi Bev, WOW !! that was definitely a "LABOUR OF LOVE" but absolutely worth it !! What a gorgeous stone fireplace that you have brought back to life :) unfortunately a lot of people these days don't seem to appreciate natural elements and beauty, everything has to be covered or ripped out and replaced with cheap rubbish !! I love old buildings with character, my own smallholding property I own here in South Wales (UK) was built in 1924 and we have been trying to put this back to its original state and renovate since we bought it back in 2007. It all takes time and a lot of hard graft but the results speak for themselves !! Well done :) and can't wait to see it all decorated now !! tfs, Michelle x
Oh that stone is gorgeous. You have unearthed a treasure Bev. I’m glad that you were able to get it done so that you can truly enjoy the beauty of it. I kept thinking oh I can’t wait to see it done for fall. Yay!!! Your love of decorating that fireplace is going to exponentially increase. Now, can’t wait for “part two”. 🦋🦋🦋
Bev, you breathed beautiful life back into your gorgeous stone. I'm sure your arms are aching, but I hope you can reach back and give yourself a nice pat on the back! All of your hard work had a priceless reward❣️ Now I cannot wait to see how you style in your usual spectacular way!
The story those stones could tell. It looks great Bev! Do you have arms of steel now? 😂 Mercy! Attacking those stones had to be a great stress reliever. Now, let the fun begin. 🎍
Beautiful your awesome and your hard work paid off. I had stone fireplace years ago. I miss it can’t wait to see how beautiful it will be decorated congratulations keep up the o work and videos your so pleasant to watch and learn from. Have a blessed evening
Wow Bev it turned out gorgeous. What a huge undertaking! What’s funny is while I was watching, the minute I thought why would someone paint this and then you immediately said the same thing. I have always loved stonework. You definitely bought this fireplace back to its original glory. Can’t wait to see you decorate it. Well friend have a blessed evening. ❤️🤗
The fireplace looks amazing, I have one that looks similar but I guess I was lucky no one ever white washed it.The stone speaks for itself in its natural color. You certainly worked hard Bev but what an accomplishment. Can’t wait for part two.❤️Barb
Thank you so much! We are buying a house with a natural stone wall and fireplace that was painted white. I have been salty and heartbroken that the former owner made the stone look like Styrofoam. I am going to try this. The work involved is worth it to me to bring back the natural stone.
Thank you, Lisa❤️! Now I can sit back and enjoy a nice fire 🪵🔥. We have a winter storm warning in place for Thursday and Friday. Have a beautiful day!🌷
@@TheLittleBlueFly Keep warm! We are also on a Winter storm warning here in Summerfield, NC. Last weekend was very ugly weather and they are expecting “Viola” To be worse. Be safe, XOXO
Your hard work paid off. The fireplace is beautiful. Why people do the things like painting stone is unbelievable. I will be keeping this on file in case I come across painted stone. Thanks for the information.
Wow Bev...you certainly worked hard to remove that paint, but it looks gorgeous now. My hubby and I removed paint from Jarrah wood in our master bedroom and varnished it to show the beautiful grains...I cannot understand why people feel the need to paint something so gorgeous...we have many more to do as the previous owners painted the whole house trim work and skirting boards...as always..stay safe and take care...🥰🇦🇺
Thanks so much for this tutorial. We have a stone fireplace soiled by gas log propane soot. I can’t wait to try and use these products to remove all this blackened stain using your cleaning techniques.
Well my goodness what a job!!! I quess I can understand why you haven’t got the bunny done yet!! That was a work of love for sure and wow what a beauty. Beautiful Bev.
That was a lot of work, but worth it. Why would anyone want to paint that beautiful stone.? But I'm glad you were able to restore it back to its Splendor and Glory. It is beautiful. And I am looking forward to seeing how you're going to decorate it. Thanks for sharing, you take care and God bless. And as I always say on my channel, Happy Decorating.😍😀♥🌷💐
I never have been so excited to see an update like this!! You did such an excellent job I can’t imagine how your body responded at days end. What a mess too. I can believe someone painted that. It seems everything is painted white or grey. : ( Stone is not the only thing / beautiful wood & metal pieces too. How exciting to find such a treasure. What drew me to your channel is your vibrant colors, textures, metals and appreciation of ornate things. Also your not showy your down to earth. I can’t wait to see the rest. Thank you so much for showing this gray DIY. Have a great day. I bet you just sit with a cup of coffee and admire it!! I know I would! 😆
Thank you❤️! May I ask you for your name? Our cottage is coming more to life everyday! The feel and air is therapy to the bones. Have a wonderful day!🌷
I will start off giving you a cheer and an AA+++ . I have never refinished stone. But I have refinished for 30 years. One piece took me 3 years. It was a Buffet that was so intricate and black with years of shellac . It was huge and the detail was the most beautiful piece of furniture I refinished in all those years. Yes it was my job. I worked in my basement by a small window. The stripper I used was very strong. That is all we had back then. I worked on the pillars and the top at home, then they made a ramp to get the body of the buffet to their garage so I could work on it. I used the strangest tools. pairing knives , beer can opener, etc. lots of steel wool. and sand by hand. I know I never got paid enough for my work. As you know. If you had to pay someone by the hour??? So I understand the joy of unearthing the real stone and the years of enjoyment you will have decorating it. Are you going to use the fireplace? Thank you for sharing, your wonderful piece of your home. Joyce
Wow! Your mantle turned out beautiful! I can't believe someone painted that beautiful stone. I know that was a lot of work on your part but it turned out just beautiful! Love it!!
