Oh sweetie. I found you because I'm wanting to do 'something' to my fireplace. I love your message. And your husband has incredible insight at a young age. I'm 66. Looking back, it is so easy to lose yourself 'in the mission'. God bless you doll! And thank you for sharing fails, success, perseverance, and love. ❤️ new fan
My prayers are with you and I think your fireplace looks old world now. I am 74 yrs. old and I learned a long time ago to take care of what I can accomplish and leave the rest to God. Have a wonderfully blessed day.
That is some of the best advice!! I just need to keep reminding myself. A friend once told me to “Let go, and let God” Easier said than done for me. You’re prayers mean more than you know!!! Thank you!!! 🤗🤗🤗
You are amazing. You are wonderful homeschooling your babies. The fireplace looks great and the tips are appreciated Be kind to yourself. You’re doing great ❤
Thank you so much for those sweet words!! Now that we’ve been living with the fireplace the way it is, I think you’re right! It wasn’t the goal, but it’s still beautiful!! Thanks so much for watching. Have a great week!!
Getting ready to lime wash my fireplace and really appreciated all the tips! I think yours turned out beautifully and I hope you are enjoying it as time has passed. I also appreciated you sharing your heart and encouragement at the end. Added bonus! Thank you!
Thank you for your helpful video! I am considering doing this to my fireplace so I started hunting for how-to videos. Also, thank you for your encouragement. I am a homeschooling mom also and we have a small farm as of three years ago. We just closed on our first rental property. Even in our failures and triumphs God is good and upholds us.
You sound so much like us!! We did rental properties before we bought the farm, but one day we were praying and separately my husband and I both heard God tell us to sell. So even though we didn’t want to, we did. We still miss the real estate part of our lives and hope and pray God releases us to do it again. Have a great weekend!!!
Thank you for the words at the end of your video. I came to watch for lime wash tips -- and then you re-set my thoughts. My husband and I are in our 70's and just moved into a home that needs quite a bit of updating. I lost my "mission" while painting and not getting the results I wanted. I needed to hear what you shared even more than I need stone painting information. Little did I know. I subscribed and will be watching your progress. Thank you very much.
Your message is exactly why I share at the end of my videos like that. It's easy to get running at such high speeds that we forget to slow down and soak in all the good going on around us. We can get wrapped up in the daily tasks that we forget all to step back. Thanks so much for sharing your heart with me. It means more than you know!
Wow! Thank you so much for this video! I just came across it randomly tonight, and it's 12:41am as I'm still up working, and your message really touched me and is something I needed to hear! Sometimes, a lot of times, I get caught up in the day to day grind, and it's easy to lose sight of what really matters. Thank you for listening to your prompting to share! And although I know it's not the exact look you were going for, I do think your fireplace is beautiful!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you enjoyed my little chat at the end. Sharing from the heart is scary, but I've found that it results in more good than bad. Have a great week!
Thanks for sharing this video. It's a messy process, but so worth it!. Your fp brick looks great. Thanks for your honesty in facing the joys and stress of motherhood, and how God will get you through it all. You have a lot on your plate, and you just have to get up everyday and view it as a gift. Your children are a gift, and God will get you through anything you will face.
Amen! You are soo right! It is such a gift to get to live the life I have. We had small group last night and one thing led to another and the mamas were talking about how hard it is taking care of sick littles, but then someone said, "But you'd never choose to do it any differently, would you?" NO MA''AM!! I'd take all of the day's challenges easily over going back to working outside the home full-time! Thank you so much for continuing to help me keep my eyes focused on the eternal things! Have a great rest of your week!
The fireplace looks beautiful. That's not a failure at all. Yes you had to spend a bit more time to distress it because of the delay, but the end goal is the same. Congrats!
Thank you so much!! Those words of encouragement mean so much to me!! I’m so grateful you decided to take the time to leave this comment!! Thank you for watching! Have a wonderful day!!
I’m so happy I found your channel. Thank you for the superb advice. Your project is absolutely beautiful. May I ask a question… can small areas be done here and there, or is it best to complete the entire fireplace in one pass? I really want to do mine and with your helpful tips, I think I can. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Thank you for your encouraging words and Honesty! I can't count the times I've "failed" to achieve what I had intended. However, what you created looks beautiful! Can't wait to see it finished!!!! Ty again for your Honesty!
I made a similar mistake when I did my fireplace. I forgot to wet the bricks first. So by the time I finished applying it all (which took much longer, I think, because I was putting it on dry brick), it had dried a little too much and was hard to wipe off. I ended up getting some muriatic acid, which is nasty stuff, but it softened up the lime enough that I was then able to wipe off a little more, and I'm thrilled with how mine turned out.
That’s wonderful!! I’m so glad you found a solution. I think the acidity of the vinegar is what helped me remove more of the lime, but it’s not super strong, which is why it took multiple times hahaha Lessons learned!! Have a great day!!
Instead of distressing the lime wash, I wonder if you could have simply increased the dilution before painting. The distress will then come from variable absorption of the lime wash.
Lime wash is sold at premium paint prices so my frugal impulse is never to wash any of it off. I used it on my chimney at 50% dilution without distressing before calcification. I’ll let the sun and the elements do that.
Thanks so much for the encouragement to not lose sight of who God created us to be for the mission we are pushing towards. You are an amazing young woman full of wisdom! 🥰
Thank you for the video :) im looking to lighten some tan stone only slightly. Its a very harsh look and i think the fireplace would look more harmonious if it was a little bit lighter. Do you think if I wet the brick and dilute my limewash a lot I could acheive the look?
Yeah!! As I was reading your comment before I got to your question I was thinking about suggesting that you dilute it much more than I did to achieve that look. I’d dilute it more than you think you need to. Just because it’s easier to limewash over limewash than it is to remove limewash later. You’ll have to tell me how it turns out!
@@opendoorsopenhearts grateful for your reply, I will definitely try it out just like you said, more water than I think I would need. I love seeing ladies make their house a home, god bless 💕
@@heidihernandez2771 Hello. Romabio does not recommend diluting the limewash more than 1:1 (100% dilution). If you must, you can max it out at 150% dilution which would be 1L of Classico Limewash to 1.5L of water. Anything over that will weaken the binders that adhere the coating to your brick. If you want a semi-transparent look for your brick, you would want Venetian Glaze which can be more heavily diluted and is still a slaked lime paint. Also for all fireplaces Mineral Shield is recommended to protect the finish and prevent chalking. Please reach out if you need more guidance as Venetian Glaze is a newer product with less info circulating.
I love your spirit and thank you for taking the time to put this video together. I'm sorry if you've answered this already but what brand Limewash did you use and can I get it on the interweb? Thanks in advance
Thanks so much for watching!! I promise it’s not as scary as it feels…although I was nervous too!! But my best advice is give yourself plenty of day light hours so you can see how it is looking as you go. Putting it all on then going to bed is not the best course of action haha
You are so welcome, and THANK YOU beyond words!! I appreciate your prayers more than you know! They mean soo much to me! Thank you!! Have a great rest of your week!
Thank you for the video instructions and advice really appreciate it! You wore the first search as I’m about to order lime wash for my fireplace. And also subscribe as soon as you said you have chickens and turkeys and hunting and want to be self sufficient ❤😊
THANK YOU!!! I'm so glad the video was helpful to you! Let me know how your fireplace goes. It truly is so much easier than I imagined it would be. And I'm so happy you decided to subscribe. Becoming more and more self-sufficient has been a wonderful journey. Not always easy, but the best things in life you often have to work for!
The stone wash in the pic is yellowed, probably from age. To get that look, an ochre or cobalt pigment would have to be added to the super-bright-white lime wash used
You’re so right!!! I did talk to my husband about doing another color of limewash in different areas. But we’re working on the mantel as I type this. So we’re waiting to see what it looks like with a mantel. Maybe that will add enough warmth back into the fireplace??
In response to your husband's mention of "do not lose yourself for the sake of the mission," I must commend you and he both. This is true. What we also should be reminding ourselves is, especially as modern women and men of marriage, is that YES you can have it all - but you cannot have it all at once. Sometimes you can, but the cost is much, much higher than living in this moment when kids are small, and you are young. So, take off your shoes, put your feet in the grass and look down at them, say to yourself "This moment is all that matters. This moment is all I need to be in control of." This is all that God has given us control over, this itsy bitsy teeny tiny modicum of choice, and it is more than plenty. Your fireplace is gorgeous, and as a professional oil painter I am well aware of comparing original vision to outcome of my product. It's extremely rare that it does actually line up. The probability of it happening raises with practice, sure, but how many fireplaces do you limewash every year? Give yourself A++ for a job well executed, and allow yourself the grace to fully appreciate its beauty. Let the origin story go back into the Treasure Chest for "one day."
You have no idea how grateful I am for your kind words!! I’ve read them multiple times over because they are so sweet. Thank you for your encouragement and for watching my video. It means more than you know!

Yes. You definitely could! Then if you wanted more in a certain spot you’d just do another coat. So much easier than what happened to me haha 🤣 😂
