That looks INCREDIBLE. Wow. I am shocked that is the same fireplace.
❤❤❤ It’s hard to believe!! 😂
You guys are an adorable couple. I really enjoyed watching this!
This is spectacular!!! I love what you two have created. It is so beautiful.
It looks great!
Thank you!
I actually LOVE the lightened stones.
We are so happy how it turned out!
The fireplace turned out beautifully. I’m so glad you both persevered and didn’t ‘settle’!
Thank you!! ❤ The next try would’ve been painting it all, but I already knew I wouldn’t like that as much 😂
I think the fireplace looks amazing.
Thank you!! ❤
i really like the outcome - it changes the room dramatically !
Completely changed the feel of the room! 🙌
Yep as soon as you started lightening the rock I was like “Noooooo 😫” 😂 My sis in law painted the grout on their giant rock fireplace, changed the whole room. Love the results of ya’lls in the end! Looks perfect! 👍🏻 Not too dark, not too light.
😂😂 I’m glad you ended up liking it!! 🙌
Guys, the after is phenomenal!!!😍 Excellent work!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks!! It was a bit of a struggle to get there 😅 but huge improvement!! ❤

Wow, guys, don‘t even hesitate - it is so much better now! You did an amazing job. The fireplace looks so fresh and modern now.
I couldn’t imagine that it is possible. You saved yourself tons of money and brought new life to an outdated fireplace. ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow! Looks amazing.!! Especially with the way you styled the room. I really love your taste.
Thank you!! 😘
Beautiful results
Thank you!
It looks absolutely incredible!! Great job. 🎉
Thanks Christina!! Such a huge difference from what was there before!
The end result is gorgeous. Softened coloring adds warmth to your room and flows well with your furnishings. Way to see a project through until it felt like "you two!"💖
Thank you so much!
I love the fireplace🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤🇨🇦
Thank you!! Such a massive improvement! ❤
Yes…..a Lindi & Russ video!!! I love it. Fireplace looks great. I am so glad you showed the highs and lows of this process…..because that is what DIY is all about. Thank you for being such good mentors!!!!!

The house you left behind was a show house and this house will be the same, looking forward to all the room makeovers!
For sure!! Most people only met us at the end of our journey on the last house, but it took 6 years! This house will be the same :)
Looks incredibly better, love the technique used. I have a new build with stone being put around my fireplace and I am asking for this overgrouting because it looks so beautiful.
We are so happy with how it turned out - we love our new fireplace!

We are so happy with how it turned out!
Looks ❤
Thanks ☺️
Love the DIY fireplace! I would add a darker or natural mantel to make it pop. Great job!!
Thank you! 😊
Amazing!
Thanks!! 😊
I like it. The colour really works with panelling.
I agree!! I’m so glad we softened it after - made a big difference twitch this colour palette!
Happy about the final outcome! :)
Thank you!! ❤️
LOVE!!! ❤
Thank you!!
Great job!
Thanks!
Lots of hard work but all worth it. I hated the black(dark) grout. The stone is the star now. Good job.
I sooooo agree with you!! I always called it the girafe print stone 😂 Now it blends in so nicely!
A huge improvement. It was all worth it. You may end up keeping it that way. I would get a wood mantel, though, just to break up the stone.
Russ is hopeful that we do keep it! I honestly love it so much more, but the massive hearth is a big reason I won’t think it’ll stay forever. We just lose so much living room space because of it
So the take home message is to skip the sealer on the stone itself? Looks great!
no- we still sealed the stone - just need a very ligth coating
I like it!
wow this looks sooo damn good!
Thank you!! 🥰🥰
If you had to do the process over again would you still paint some of the stone and then remove w the acetone? Or just, lightly paint the stone (I love the end result you achieved!)
100% just use less paint, acetone was just what we had to do to save it 😬
❤
😊
My brother and sister in-law did the same project in their house. They eventually painted the stone in different shades of grey to match their room
They didn’t like what they did the first time? I’m honestly shocked by how natural it looks! People IRL don’t even know it’s been redone!
Looks stellar! Now paint the wood creamy!
Now that you did it. Do you think the acetone is a necessary step? Or what would have you done differently?
I think you could do it without the acetone if you’re very light with the sealer, but it dries darker and it’s so hard to know how far you’ve gone, so I think there could always be a need to remove some potentially.
08:20 this was so funny ;-)
☺️
Paint the walls
We want to reuse the wood for another project so we don't want to paint them.
Wow, I seem to be the bear to these comments. Not one of your better designs. So use to your modern design and then this. I think I would have spent the money and do cement board but maybe you are going to go a whole new direction with this west coast reno.
Hahaha. Trust me, this isn’t our dream fireplace or our forever fireplace, but it’s a HUGE, affordable improvement from what we had! Trying to cement board and resurface this fireplace while keeping the flooring and wall panels would’ve been a huge mistake - the aesthetics will not match. Once we can afford to move walls, add beams, and change walls and floors, an expensive fireplace will go in ❤ Until then, I’m quite happy with this huge improvement! Home takes time! ❤
