Would love to see it restored. I started college in 1967 with a 1951 Plymouth 4 door that I bought for $85.00. It was the only car I ever owned that could go through all three gears and only be going 15 mph! LOL
🤣 😂 Yup sounds about right. Gotta love the power of a flat 6. I wish used cars were still $85.
I had a friend that passed away and left a 1967 Ford F600 truck abandoned for years in a treeline along a pasture. I was gifted the truck by his family and it made me happier than I can ever explain. You should do something nice for your neighbor that gave you the car. I found a quarried piece of granite and I carved a tombstone for my friend's family horse that passed away. You can find a way to help your neighbor to show your gratitude. Keep the karma rolling!!!!
I definitely will
You have great neighbors! I would love to have this happen to me. It's also nice to see that it's a complete car, not one of those whose engine went missing decades ago.
I agree, they are great neighbors!
Great to see these old girls saved looking forward to seeing you get her running
Thanks ian
I am 79 and my first two cars were '48 Plymouths, so I have a sweet spot in my heart for your efforts of bringing back the '51 Texas "Pilgrim" from the grave. I won't miss an episode and I applaud your dedication.I wish I could do the same, but Father Time has taken away my ability to do so. B.O.L. to you! Robert Kansas City, MO.
Thank you Robert, more to come soon.
You're up where Pole Barn Garage is located
@@twinkie27271 There are alot of pole barns up that way
When I was a young 16 yo in HS, I was given a free 52 Cambridge convertible. Had a burnt valve but drove that car for 4 months and only replaced 1 front brake hose. Love those MOPARS!
WHAT!? Wonder where the car is now.
@@somewhatfast being that was around 1968, the car most likely ended up in the scrap yard.
Sweet! love those old flatheads! Cool old guy those are the kind of neighbors ya need!
In addition to the Cranbrook and Cambridge there was also the Concorde which was base model. The Concorde was discontinued after 1952 whereas the Cranbrook and Cambridge lasted until 1953. The model names used by Plymouth starting in 1954 were Belvedere, Savoy and Plaza.
My 52 is a cambridge, my 55 is a plaza.
Nancy's guy here... What a wonderful Find/Gift! Bring it back to life... if possible make it a "daily driver"... you know something that you can rely on all summer to get you to the store and back. Like Scott on Cold war Motors did with his Frazier. Keep up the great show.
Thank you!
I'm happy to see how much you appreciate that old car. Some people would think it's junk. Not me. I think it's going to be a fun project for you.👍
Thanks Tim love these old chryslers
I love the patina! I'd say just slap on the rear fenders from the other car, find a decent trunklid, and then gut the interior and put in some decent seats and get it running. And just a nice set of plain black steel wheels with chrome lug nuts or poverty caps.
👌 PERFECT
Super cool! Those are the best kind of neighbors!😁
I sure would like to see more on this car. That guy that gave you that car was really nice.
It will be coming up on the channel for sure.
My dad had a 54 Plymouth black with red trim an before that he had a 48 Plymouth . MOPAR old school or no car. 👍🏻💯🇦🇺
I agree I had a 49 plymouth, great cars.
Sometimes the planets are aligned... Nice old car. 🇬🇧👍
You’re making me feel real old. Dad bought one of these the year I was born. Had more kids and got a station wagon in 58. All I remember about it was, when you hit a small puddle it would drown out. We moved from Texas to Arizona in that car in August of 1956 with no air conditioner. Great memories. We kids were playing in it in the driveway and it popped out of gear and rolled backwards into the street. Mom was pretty upset but we thought it was fun. By all means, get it back on the road.
Awesome story Doug. Something about these old plymouths, love em.
Really great old school car. Love it.
Thank you!
Great find. That has to go back on the road, as low as possible!!!
I agree, thank you!
Nice score! Fate dealt you the perfect hand. Everything you need to fix it with you already had with the 52.
My parents had a 51 Plymouth just like this. Not sure of the model. They bought it new in 51. Wish I had it now.
I had a young man stop by my house and inquired about one of my cars. I sold it to him and he is now a very good friend. So much so that I will probably give him my other cars when I pass away.
It's a great feeling to give younger men and women who love these old cars a treat with the gift of a dream we once had.
Good man! Thank you gary
This is too cool and it’s awesome that you’re saving all these old cars. I live in Texas as well. I have a 1938 Plymouth Coupe that I’m currently restoring. It was my dads first car. The car has been in my family since at least 1940. The car was parked in 1964 or 65, luckily the engine isn’t stuck.
Holy mackerel! I have a 52 that was parked since 75 and it was locked up. Pretty interesting that these engines can sit 10 years and lock or 60 years and be fine.
It’s going to take some work. But, looking forward where it goes. And the main thing free is in the budget. Thank you for sharing!
You can never go wrong with free. Thanks terry
Hope your health is doing well btw
Good to see real American cars come back to use. Back when we made our own stuff. I don’t like the new cars they look like eggs, no style. Good luck with it. Enjoyed the video!
I absolutely agree with you on new cars. Thank you
Exactly
I think most new cars look like angry cockroaches to me...and those squinty, ultra-bright LED daylight lights are obnoxious...put your eyes out, even in the daytime....
Everything was fine until the government got into the car business. Before that, it wasn't complicated enough. You could fix your own stuff without losing your mind.
Now everything costs 100 times what it used to, we have huge bureaucracy, lawyers getting rich, and lots of photo ops for blowhard windbag politicians.
Business as usual.
@@jpalberthoward9 ..yes, and unfortunately, the newer generations have grown up with all that, and they think they actually need all that sh#t on their vehicles to feel "safe"...
Thats the one to build. Kinda worried about the title issue, but what a find!!
I love 50s cars i hope you keep it and rebuild it its a base for a good project 👍
In ‘63 my dad bought a 51 Cranbrook for $35.00. He was a house painter and brought us swimming one day, while he brush painted on the shore. Believe it or not, it came out pretty nice, and he ran it for about a year trouble free. 😂😂 Those we’re the days when you went with whatever worked.
I bet he was proud of that paint job though!
take part from the other car to make this one a runner. Looks so cool with the surface rust.
LOVE the patina
Like you said, it's fate. Now you HAVE to Frankenstein the 51 and 52 into a runner!
Is it a 1951? Or a 1952?
YES it is
...GREAT you saved another gem from the rust heap even if you are cannibalizing one car for another. Somewhere others doing the same thing need original parts... GOOD LUCK w/your Plymouth project !
Thank you! 💪
I love these old cars
My dad had a 51 Plymouth business coupe , nice car with the one bench seat and huge trunk.
Love to see that car fixed up and running my first car was a 50 Plymouth 2 door flathead 6
I'll get it going i promise, or attempt to stay tuned.
I think you should check and see what the resale value on this make and model is in excellent condition. Then counter that with how much it's going to cost you to get it there when you factor in parts and most importantly, labor.
This is what was told to me by a county clerk in Texas years ago. If the car is older then 20 years, Texas really does not care what you do with it as you can body swap a newer cab to an older car and it will still be considered that year model car. As long as you use the proper rivets for the vin when you are putting the vin tag of say a 1952 on a 1951. It is what I had to do with a 1965 Ford F-100, that needed a new cab that got the cab off of a 1966 Ford F-100 and still titled as a 1965.
I'm not going to lie I thought about throwing my 1955 plymouth classic plates on it and just driving it around. As long as I own all 1950s plymouths I won't even need titles!! Thanks for watching.
My Dad had a 4 door 52 Plymouth. Great car. I remember the knob on the top center of the dash, it wash the windshield wipe on/off switch. Don't think it had intermittent wipers.I always thought it was it a strange location.
That does seems strange, thanks for watching
Freebies are the best! I'd love to see you get her going.
You definitely will see it running, hit that notification button!
His wife's 57 reminds me of Christine awesome cars your neighbor seems like awesome people
Alot of cool folks in Azle Tx!
I love it that there are people that restore these beautiful cars!
At the same time I wonder why modern cars are so damn ugly.
Thats mint condition right there.... Thats a Gasser Drag car right there....13.32 mins in..She would be an awesome hot rod..
thats cool mate . its a straight old lady and has potential . good score
Has a nice patina too would love to High gloss clear coat it maybe some door lettering and pin striping
Clearcoat won't stick to rust.
@@twinkie27271 I guess we will find out
Those WW2 ground mats would be great to park a dead car on and keep the moisture down.
the old guy would be fun to hang out with.
just an added note, he's about my age.
I believe he is 74 really cool guy in selling him my overdrive trans in my 55 plymouth cheap.
..can he play "Sharp Dressed Man"?....
Man I wish I was as lucky as you 😆. I'll take any old car as a project. Just have to turn the wrenches and get one together now.
Super lucky lately, Just wait till you see what I'm doing with the 55 wagon. Going to be wicked cool 😎
Well I like it I think it's a neat car and the guy was a really nice guy to give it to you for nothing sure does make it a lot easier on you to get it for free I wished I had that kind of luck but I was able to get a 2000 Ford explorer with a small block 3024 $400 even though I like the antiques and the classics much older
Love the '51 👍🙂
Hey I hope your dreams come true with your Plymouth 👍 I’m Ronnie from Tennessee
Thank you Ronnie!
People who aren't that into cars are the ones that seem to have several cars "sitting in the yard". I have all the time in the world to do another car, and I can't find sheet.
Y'all got yerself a nice Plymouth gifted to you.
You asked what you should do with it, if it was mine, and I had the stuff that you have, I would definitely take the motor and tranny out of the Dodge pickup and slip it into the old Plymouth and get her running and driving. Heck, if y'all are lucky, the bench seat from the truck just may fit in the
Ol' Girl. Now that would be nice, right?
I wish Y'all the best of luck on fixin' her up.
Y'all have got yerself a good wife if she says,
"Go get it." I married one that let's me do the same thing. Yup, it's been a fun 38½ years so far, and to this day, she still says, "Go on and get it!" The best of luck to you, my friend.
God bless you and yours!
Yes I am very lucky, thanks for watching!
That tune is from pudden fab shop. Love it.
Its free music on youtube studio that any one can use.
That old guy is telling you about all the things he plans to do... He ends up doing nothing.😅

New to the channel, love the car!!
Dude looks like Billy Gibbons without a hat...

I need to do something nice for old paul for giving me the car.
Looks super solid!
It does!
Swap the parts to the 51 Plymouth and get it running..
Awesome bro.
Thanks ✌️
@@somewhatfast there was a time when you could find some cool abandoned cars in SoCal but now all the covid hipsters got em.
It was a good video, but I was kind of miss lead and will it run so I will be looking forward to the will it run part :)
Well it does say part one lol stay tuned
Cool channel like the cars your fixing. I'm in Springtown so good to see some locals on RUclips.
Thanks Andy, right down the road from me
Awesome yeah I'm rebuilding a vq35de in a 2006 infiniti m35 . It's been a challenge to say the least. Might Start a RUclips on it and get into it. You have Inspired me . I'm always coming across old cars as well. Maybe we can collaborate on some. Great channel it definitely is going the right way.
@@boltonnation Man you don't know how good that feels to hear bro. We will have to link up
@@somewhatfast I just saw the post from Springtown. I lived between Aledo and Willow Park from 1979 till 2021. There were cattle on pasture both sides of the road every now and then when I moved there. I missed seeing them. There was a line shack close to the US. Still there as an office for a swimming pool company. Wish I had seen this when I was still in your area.
@@larrygarrett724 What post?
Good score !
My first car in 1963 was a 49 plymouth from my hometown dealer. Cost....$100. It was in great shape. That car drivd and ran nice. I have had a 1963 Plymouth Valiant, 1968 Dodge van both with a slant 6 engine. The best was a new 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner for $2,803 !
69 roadrunner for 2803 is insanity nowadays. Thanks larry
thats well worth saving. body looks solid.
Its actually pretty clean haven't checked floors yet.
Nice project car
😎 Thank you
Nice bloke. Well done mate
Made a new friend, thank you mate
learned to dcrive in a 1950 dodged 3 on the tree age 16
Save it. Be a good driver..
Thank you!
Personally unless I needed the parts, I wouldn't have even bothered picking up the car without a title.
Thank you
That would be a great 24 Hours of Lemons car.
What is that?! Ill have to look it up.
Yeah that grill is in amazing shape
I couldn't belive it, a tiny tiny ding in it.
That's awesome! I have a 51 Dodge Coronet Diplomat 2 door that I put a 318 / 4 speed in last year for the #nonamenationals.
I'm putting a 318 Magnum in my 1955 Plymouth station wagon!

Love the beetle so much! Please buy it
It was his fathers that passed away it has sentimental value to him. It has a perfect patina though doesn't it!?!
@@somewhatfast I agree! Maybe getting it going as a tribute for him for the price of something else?
What a nice guy! There's ways around titles, fix it!
They really knew how to chrome plate back then.
Agreed, a Little steel wool it'll be like it rolled off the assembly line!

I would take everything off the junk car put all your new stuff on to the free car definitely restore this newer car.
Thats the plan as of now, thank you!

I think you should get a title, swap parts. Make it a daily. I think a t-5 will adapt to the flathead.
Plan on doing something to it. I have a Plymouth satellite Im working on first. Thanks for watching!
My dad had a 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook.
I love em, thank you.
If you can get a title, make one car out of the two, but leave it as is without modification.
Thank you, stay tuned im working on it as we speak.
I think by the time you get it running/driving you could have bought a better one.
You might be right, stay tuned.
Right..but this is more fun..and he will be saving another vintage car...
Get a title and take the family out for ice cream
restore it...there are not many fordoors left. keep it stock
