That is crazy that the laws arent being followed. I get having to put down a deposit but a deposit and caution together plus agency fees? Thats a rip off. Glad i aint looking for a house, but thank you for the info. Much appreciated.

Really? How did that happen? How did you find the house...it's so hard avoiding those agents since most owners use them so you are left with no choice but to pay.
It was a referral from a friend who lived in the same apartment,no agent involved,the landlord is so civilized I negotiated coz I didn’t have money for all the six months and he allowed 3

Hi, yes it will still be the same so it's not the best option for short term. Normally people who do short term stay rent furnished apartments which have different rules to renting unfurnished.

What's the process of charging someone to rent your house. My mother owns a house in Abidjan(Yopougon) we're trying to renovate it and rent it out. But we don't live there or know much about the laws there. We're expecting to work with a rental agency. Do you have any advice on this? Do you know any agencies?

There are some pages on Facebook you can ask for rooms to rent and they will give you different prices for the different neighborhoods.
