I swear to god the way SciCraft gonna end is these megaminds find a way to swap NBT of a wooden sign and a command block so they can give themselves creative mode
this is already possible with a tile entity swap tmk, but the command block wouldnt do anything cuz they have different nbt tags

@Sebastian Moser I only read the full thing now lol. No that’s incorrect. Locked hoppers does not trigger storage tech people, its the opposite. Storage tech people look foward to having every single hopper in their builds locked when they are not being used and automatically unlocked when needed.

I know that the beacons are pretty much the easiest part of all this, but I find it so poetic that you need thousands of the stereotypical “expensive” block to do all of these things.

As Punchster said the beacon tower was the 1st concept setup that ever worked and for a long time nobody really questioned if all of those beacons were necessary. The answer is no lmao. On Wavetech Patreon server we did basically the same thing with just 18 beacons

To oversimplify. You guys have made the equivalent of a particle collider in minecraft and are transmuting blocks into other blocks through tremendous lag and abuse of game mechanics that are so obscure that mojang probably does not know about them?

as someone with an equally weak understanding of hypertechnical minecraft but has caffeine in the body, I think you hit the nail on the head, because this is basically what particle accelerators do. Like, no joke, this transmutation stuff can ACTUALLY be used as a way to explain particle accelerators through the lens of Minecraft and I think that's beautiful and I hope hypertechnical minecraft gets more kids interested in science :)

Is it anyhow possible to change nbt data of a command block to get creative? And more precisely, is it fully researched and hence proven to be _not_ possible. Or it _might_ be possible because the research hasn't ended yet?
Another question, similar to the first one: is it not possible in newer versions because it's _literally not_? Or, because there hasn't been a deep-enough research for that in newer versions, for whatever reason, so theoretically it could be possible? With a COMPLETELY different setup ofc.
And another question that someone already asked in the comments: was there a certain version that broke this setup, or was it just a multitude of updates removing unintended features that were used in this setup - hence breaking it?
I really liked the vid, it didn't feel like a long vid although being almost half an hour. I'm gonna watch Myren's vids now to get a rough idea of how exactly everything works. Threadstone sounds really interesting.

1. The amount of corruption necessary is just astronomical. When it comes to blockstate corruption all it took was to figure out how Minecraft stores blockstates and then it became clear that you can mix bits and convince a game that you have command block bits. Tile entities don't work like that unfortunately.
2. Why isn't it possible? It's just not. 1.13 already changed the data structure that stores loaded chunks to the point where any potential async chunk accesses wouldn't result in a chunk reload. Also in 1.13 population manipulation isn't even possible so that would go nowhere. Do I even have to mention newer versions? 1.14 added a bunch of multithreading safety, 1.15 removed savestates, 1.17 removed tile entity deletion so making b36 is insanely annoying, 1.19 removed normal update suppression

Specific player heads would require NBT corruption which may as well be completely impossible.
Let's put it that way: if NBT corruption to the point where we can make a notch head is possible, putting any command in a command block is also possible

I just saw ElrichMC's new video where he used a setup similar to the 'old' method for getting the bedrock item to get a double chest of bedrock without duping. It seemed to use some parts of falling block technology, but because the video is in Spanish, I didn't understand much of the explanation.
Sadly, I couldn't find any other videos explaining this setup...

*Basically* there are multiple different ways that the game stores different blockstates depending on how many there are in a subchunk. So to generate unobtainable blocks, you need the registry palette, which is 256+ blockstates in a chunk, which each block is represented as its ID + metadata as a 13 bit binary number, where there are 9 bits for the ID and 4 for the metadata. Then, using the funny observer line you can cause a race condition where 2 threads try to change bits at the same time, making a new block. Then you can change the palette to the hashmap palette (I think you use this one I don't remember), which is 256 or less blockstates, which then you can do the falling block swap. This is an oversimplification, but its the general idea.
