    Totally agree, that this is an ideal bike to start on. I started way back in the 60s on a Honda S90 Sport with a whacking top speed of 67 MPH. As you have said Luke I learnt what to do and had to also learn to go harder into the corners to keep up with my Brit bike mates. Small means you can learn the basics in a relatively safe package.

      The Mt-03 does 119mph. I'd hope youngsters buying them don't ride like this peanut does. Were it not for his high skill level he would have been cleaned up when he swerved to miss that car at speed.

    Really someone who is supposed to be inspiring young riders would wear proper gear

    • @1up_doug
      @1up_doug 5 лет назад

      leather jacket, boots, denim jeans, gloves and a helmet. all the extra gear is not going to help you when it comes to impact. they do make vests that have essentially airbags in them but thats another level of "proper gear." i race part time and on track, always a suit bc the chance to washout and slide across the track is greater being we are leaning alot more than around town. but no way does it make a huge difference in impact. i can personally tell you from going down on the track at over 100mph that my gear made no difference on impact but i will admit it helped my ass from road rash. in most cases tho you dont have a 600yrd strightaway to slide down in traffic. you going to hit the curb, wall, woods...whatever it may be and in that case your super cool alpinestar jacket is doing nothing more on the road than a good old harley leather that didnt cost $400 lol

    6:14 - really - is that the right moment to overtake? A blind left hander with "slow" markings on the road?

    I know the mt 03 is supposed to appeal to new riders but I've got one with full akra system and adjustable preload forks. The bike would be a perfect little hooligan machine if it had disengageable abs and a slipper clutch. Can't drift :( and when down shifting before a corner (riding aggressively)you get massive engine breaking and the rear wheel tends to lock up a little... scary stuff. It sounds f ing AMAZING with the full akra system though, bonus points.

    My bike test woz harder than the car - failed it and got it second time - that woz back in the old days - had to do a lot of training for it - it wozunt a doddle.

    • @ANDY1985UK2011
      @ANDY1985UK2011 5 лет назад

      It's way easier than a car test , I failed car test 7 times and passed bike test 2nd attempt and that's probably cuz I had the benefit of riding a 125 on l plates for quite a few years to learn the roads

    • @nidhinbenny7975
      @nidhinbenny7975 5 лет назад

      In Australia, I think bike tests are generally much harder. I passed my driver's test first time, so I thought that I could pass the motorcycle test with like 6 hours of riding experience, but boy was I wrong. And that's just to get the learner permit so that you can legally ride a motorbike at all.

      Agreed. I like the front headlamps on the Z400. And better brakes and a slipper clutch would have been nice additions, but overall a fun bike.

    So Yamaha stuffs a wonderful, smooth parallel twin into the most uncomfortable, ugly, angular looking trick bike for feckless boys who "wanna look cool". And P&H promotes it via video clips showing someone without proper clothing who is riding all over the place. What a dysfunctional motorcycle industry the UK has. No wonder people are turning away from bikes and going to scooters. Quote: "Teaches you the right time to overtake", just as the video clip shows undone jacket boy overtaking a lorry before a "slow" sign shortly before a blind bend. Perfect timing!
