A Dilemma Covering Generations

When interviewing have you noticed that the dynamics have shifted? Candidates expectations are quite different to maybe what ours were back in the day. There is now talk of social value, environmental impact and experiential opportunities, What happened to career paths and security of employment? Do you close an interview wondering who just interviewed who?
The most recent additions to our workforces (Generation Z) grew up in a recession while 9/11 was almost an historic event. While typically more pragmatic in their outlook “employees to be” are allegedly conservative spenders but with a far greater need for authenticity on a range of values. I have three questions for us to consider:
1. What will our future team members really want from us and indeed be prepared/able to offer?
2. Has the Covid pandemic brought real change or simply accelerated what was already in train
3. Will all this be music to a CFO’s ears?
