I just finished the series yesterday too and god it's now one of my favourite pieces of media ever
While I don’t hate the show’s ending, the comic’s ending was WAY better.
At least the comics _had_ an ending.

Well Mostly Tv Show Still Better, Well Couple Things in The Comics That Are Better And Few Things Better in The Tv Show.
Your thoughts on the final arc gave me a new appreciation for it. I felt like it needed more time and setup for the stuff it was doing. I also wish such a fun character as Juanita/Princess was introduced much earlier.
Back when Andrea died I remember alot of people were mixed on it and many used to point to that as when the comics began to fall off. I felt like I was in the minority because, like you said, the death of Andrea was so elaborate and well done. All of the interactions we got made it so ceremonious. And it felt like Rick had completed his own character arc at that point.
The final chapter is just perfect. While the last arc is probably my least favorite of the series, that entire chapter of Carl grown up gave me everything I could have asked for as a fan of this comic. The final image of Carl and his daughter brings me indescribable feelings of joy and satisfaction.

I finished this series when it was coming out and I got to say the ending left me asking for more I just really didn’t like what they did with Rick
Understandable, it’s definitely a shock
Honestly I don't get why Rick became this almost mythic character, Rick's group was together for about 3/4 years,
Don't get me wrong, Rick did do great things for his small group but it was only small town level.
The Commonwealth had 50,000 people, and Rick was only there for a few days before he died. And that final speech he made was heard by .00000000004% of that population.
The real work to rebuild society is still on going after the decade time skip, Eugene is more deserving of praise for his genuinely world changing achievements than some random guy who was only in town for a few days saying "hey guys, what if we don't act as bad as we did before?" 25 YEARS AGO
I love the series, I love Rick, he is a bad ass, but he does not need a marble statue (with a tiny metal plaque that explained how a man with only one hand speed reloaded a revolver.
I just didn’t like how sudden it was. No one knew it was going to be the last issue until it released. There were even fake titles, and covers for future issues. I remember actually being really interested in where the story was going to go following Rick’s death. Only to read the next issue and be like “oh…” I’ve definitely come to enjoy how the series wrapped over the years, but on that first read I remember feeling pretty disappointed.
@@RealLifeRyan man I really wonder if kirkman was trolling or not. I'd read in multiple places that he said he had 1 thru 300 issues planned out. It got no where close,
I'm assuming the studio deadlines and burnout made kirkman speed things up. I could really see the burnout angle. Take Rick and Morty for instance, it was a beloved surprise hit but the fandom was so cringe that even the creators tuned out. Creep to radio head like, the popularity exploded so much it became concretely an explosion in the metaphoric sense

the part where negan escapes his cell and goes off to be with the whisperers and then betrays them so he can live within rick’s group happens basically the same in the show i would say. other than rick obviously not being there for it

It’s set in the comic universe so that would be a great idea. I like all the seasons but I have severe problems with season 2 and 3 in the writing. Not enough to make it not enjoyable but I’d give the first and final season around a 9 and the second and 3rd season around a 6

I really enjoy the walking dead videos Ryan. I know you had some opinions about the shows direction as do I. But I just started watching the dead city spin-off with Maggie and Neegan and I keep thinking about what you said about that relationship
I don't care how you try to spin it rick shouldn't had died there the writter makes decisions he often regrets for shock factor more so than narrative advancements he has interviews going back and forth on what he regrets and wish to fix
Yeah but imagine how much worse it would be remembered if that series kept on dragging on like the stupid show.
This is why I thing Comic Rick is the best TWD character unlike Lee , Clementine or even Tv Rick. Comic Rick achieved so much and really brought a massive change and showed that there has to be something the future is what matter’s

I’m kind of glad I didn’t read the comics because then I would constantly be comparing the two. I enjoyed the series and have enjoyed Dead City and Daryl Dixon. Looking forward to the spin-off with Rick and Michone but good job on the reviews!

Sebastian Milton is the best villain in the comic.
Tbh I really enjoyed the tv adaptation of the whispers arc, but after that the plot got slow and unbearably bad.
No the show started becoming bad in season 6 dude💀
@@drbluejay858 it's still semi enjoyable before the final arc, the heads on spikes scene really shocked me while I was watching it. After the whispers arc the show fell off from 5/10 to 2/10.
i like how Angela Kang handled season 9, she did what she could with what she had, it was nice to watch after the abysmal seasons that were 7 and 8, but the ending of season 9 and the rest of the show just awful, with the death of Henry, although he was not as good as Carl, he still did a good job filling the role and carrying out the arc's, in my opinion the relationship between Henry and Lydia was one of the best factors of season 9, watching them both flourish made the world feel more vibrant as though it had a good future ahead of it. But nope that was ruined, they only killed Henry cause they were too afraid to kill any core characters, the perfect example being Ezekiel, the person who should have died just like he did in the comics, Henry had so much more development to be had, whilst Ezekiel did not, he did nothing of note besides getting cancer and surviving it, because of course he does, this is the walking dead, they cant kill the main characters, they have to kill the side characters who have potential to bring back the show from its grave.
