I believe that's kind of a commentary on Alex being an empath. That exact thing of Alex feeling into everyone else and helping them instead of others comforting her in a difficult time is part of the story telling. In that aspect the game is all too real.

I liked the idea of Alex being with Ryan from the start! He actually considers her feelings a bit more than the other cast like when he saw that Steph was stressing her out so he sorted it. Plus I think they have more of a mature relationship whereas her and Steph seem more like a high school relationship.

I can see Alex prioritizing everyone elses feelings over hers, cuz even non-"empaths" do that, especially to distract themselves from the grief, but the characters talking to her like she was just some person that was close to Gabe and not his blood relative who grew up with him and also not someone who would be hit the hardest by losing her only living family member who she had just reconnected with after 8 YEARS doesn't make sense. That's bad writing because these characters are supposed to be sympathetic but they seem self-centered. No one is checking in on Alex, really. It doesn't make sense.

Imagine being a highly sensitive empathic person, always taking on people’s emotions - even worse when you have a HUGE heart and you soak everyone’s hidden pain/trauma up, always feeling compelled to help because it feels like a gift, yet, a curse. The overwhelming sensitivity/emotions of others (plus your own) gives you pains if you aren’t careful, not having balance. Not knowing how important balancing out or deciphering between who’s pain/emotions/trauma belong to who. You probably exercise this psychic gift over time, gain practice, start seeing colors around people as well that tells you how they’re feeling .... i can only see aura’s a little & can’t read minds, but this whole game really depicts my life. Growing up a foster child as well ... no parents. The representation is honestly greatly freaking appreciated 💜💜💜 even better that one of my fave ytbers have played this 🔥💯
Also, these gifts exist. Everyone had these gifts. Still do, we were forced to suppress them overtime. There’s a reason why we can feel “vibes” (aka, Vibrations). If you stare at an all white/black wall for a while you can see your own aura as well. I think it takes a while to start seeing actual colors clearly, but EVERYone can do this.

@@lulumackz_666 Must be rough. Rewarding but rough mentally. It's something that's very rewarding but has to take its toll I'd imagine. We definitely need more of y'all in the world and not in a bad way, just in a sense that we all gotta be better empaths.
When Berlin mentioned it about Alex I actually took a step back and realized that I gotta do better checking in on some of my people's coz I know a few people who are like that, but it rarely dawn's on me how selfish it is of me coz I've been in those scenarios where I totally disregard someone's emotions in order for me to have my healing moment w/out even reciprocating.

Honestly I chose walk away just to see what would happen. I was not expecting it to be as horrible as it was. I instantly regretted it and even though it didn't say. I'm pretty sure he kills himself in it. After you walk away it focuses on that hanging silhouette for like 5 seconds. It just says he leaves town and if you talk to Riley about it. She says that he has not responded to any of her texts.
PG’s decisions make zero sense at times because he tries to rationalize decisions for half the game and then does toxic stuff when he’s not really understanding the story or just because it’s what he wants. Different gameplays for different people so it’s all good but I prefer players that try to put themselves in the character’s shoes rather than make decisions based on how they feel watching the story.
I actually got incredibly bothered by the choice to walk away from Mac as well. Like maybe the choice of “does he deserve it?” should of been ours, but to hear that come from Alex was weird because as Berlin said, “aren’t you suppose to be the empathy girl?” I’m like what in the F
And all the shit he saying about the characters not being there for Alex and even acknowledging that her and Gabe did once have a life together, is all so on point ! And I’m glad he said it !

If Alex felt the need to walk away in that situation, you put that more into perspective for me. But it’s not even about being sweet it’s just being decent. May have lost a brother but animosity shouldn’t allow you to let someone else die just because of the way they acted towards you (and others) so I guess it doesn’t have anything to do with empathy, I just don’t see myself ever walking away from a person I know may turn around and go take their own life, just because I’m upset too.

I definitely understand Berlin’s point on how everyone else is too focused on their own grief to realize that the point of their grief’s little sister. However, while I do feel everyone should have been more mindful of Alex’s feelings, they had every right to feel as upset as they did. They had 8 years to get to know and care about Gabe and it’s only been a day since he died. And yes I know that Alex and Gabe grew up together but still that’s a lot of lost time between them after that point. This isn’t to invalidate Alex’s feelings btw cuz they’re incredibly important (after all she’s an empath) but rather, show that everyone’s grief over Gabe and their feelings over him are all valid

I appreciate, and I’d like to think Alex also appreciates Riley’s honesty but I don’t think it was quite the best time to tell her something like that. Although it’s not like no one cared enough to check on Alex, they’re all grieving themselves and it’s hard for some people to focus on anyone else when they’re in pain, plus for the most part, Alex steps in to help of her own choice. It’s very appreciated but wasn’t her responsibility.

It also shows how /anyone/ has the ability to be cruel, even empathetic Alex, who you can make horrendous despite having the power to feel other people’s emotions and know what they’re going through. Alex just got out of a foster group home, she’s in a new town trying to start a new life - a blank slate. You have the power to decide who Alex will be. That’s why I love these games so much

23:57 you definitely getting your point across Berlin. I will say that’s one of the cons of being an empath and I’m glad the game is speaking truth on it. Empaths, like myself, tend to always be good at connecting with others and understanding how others feel but it’s almost never reciprocated. It’s hard to just stop caring because as an empath it’s innate, it’s just how we/I am and it can get overwhelming sometimes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Alex has a major break down at the end.

5:30 Alex is just that typa person bruu...some people,instead of grieving some keep themselves busy so they don’t have to be thinking of what they lost or don’t wanna be alone with there own thoughts to feel that pain and in that busyness they usually help other which makes them feel better without ever having to fully deal with the hardship of losing a family member,pet or loved one who they lost
@@angel1202003 you’re not wrong but also a lot of times those people believe whilst they’re tryna keep busy helping ppl, that time wasted will help that healing process as it gives them time to take it in and process what happened and will “lessen the blow” to some extent when they finally let it out and in Alex’s case she’s only really going around because she has powers and I’m sure if she were sitting around sobbing like everyone else they’d comfort her similar to what Jed tried to do and u can’t expect ppl to be sympathetic with how alex is feeling during there own grieving process. that’s like losing a friend and then taking a week to heal from it and then your other friend says “oh u wasn’t talking to me and helping me through my grieving that I was also going through so we can’t be cool no more” just like u said there taking that space and alone time to get themselves over it but Alex is voluntarily trying to help everyone else through it. Can’t say they’re in the wrong for tryna take some time to grieve over someone that was damn near family. Lastly I actually do believe since she ain’t even know her brother seeing these memories and feelings the rest of the people had is actually helping her get through her own pains and helping her get to know her brother from not only another lense/point of view but know the person he was while they were apart.

You know I know Berleezy was saying it was a joke, but he is kinda right. It is very strange that all the characters are so tone-deaf as to not realize that Alex might be the person who is suffering the most. Perhaps that is on purpose to write them that way, and I hope that is the case, but if that is on accident that's a huge oversight. Like, I got family I haven't seen in years but I would be devastated if I heard they died, much less in FRONT of me in such a horrible situation. And from what I gather Gabe and Alex were separated but they were on good terms. I don't know, lots of people deal with grief differently but it's odd to me that Alex can go around and talk about Gabe so much but does not get all that emotional. But then at night when she speaks, NOW she's emotional, like where was all that emotion the entire day? Usually if someone just represses the feelings that goes on for awhile not like a couple hours. Just my thoughts right now anyway, loving the series. When you record the game rather than stream it I feel like the experience is better for immersion and critical thinking.
