hey wow thanks so much!!! you were my first ever super thanks !!! i know i’m one year late for replying (youtube just made it easier to see these) that was very kind of you!!! 💯❤️ i’m sure you’ve got an answer to the question … but incase you didn’t , it actually works great with hdmi switchers :)
Any idea how to remove the battery % and SD info at the top right and top left? Using GoPro 9 with media mod but cannot get rid of the display info and have a clean hdmi out feed.
Thanks for the great video. I'm trying to resolve an issue like this in my live streams. My audio is waaaay out of sync... something on the order of 4-5 seconds, So it seems like it out of the range of the delay controls. I thought about just running my mic off my main camera, but it's a gopro 10, and if I have it hooked to HDMI with the gopro media mod, the mic jack doesnt work, so I need to run it through my atem switcher.
I´m really happy with the GoPro plus Mediakit + Elgato Camlink as a webcam - the only thing I hate is that you need an accu inside even when you use usb-c power on the media-mod. Or did I miss something? Without the accu inside I can not power on the gopro with the media kit.
Great VIdeo, great content. I do see in the topper left corner the sd card symbol with the remaining time and in the right top corner, the No BATT symbols I run w/o a battery. Any idea how I can remove this on my GoPro Hero 9?
For some reason I still can't get my gopro 9 to connect to either one of my computers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software, downloaded and updated the firmware and still no luck. The preview only shows a black screen (even when I switch the graphics card) and I can't select the lens type. Any suggestions?
Hey Danny links for some of the items when I click on them are not working. I was looking at the usbc to HDMI and the cheap cam link in the description and they are not working. Was there any way you could give me an updated link on your recommendations?
hey my guy i need help , i looked at go pro 10 unboxing and they dont tell me which hdmi port it uses. i know i have to get the CAMLINK 4k but what hdmi cable i need to buy to hook it up to my cam link 4k elgato ? mini hdmi or regular hdmi ? which one does the go pro 10 uses ?? also if it comes in the box then i will not need to buy one ??
I'm stuck on 480p... Thinking it's the hdmi cable but I never had issues before. Also on my GoPro I set everything to 1080p 16:9 60 frames per second I'm about to pull my hair out trying to figure this out. And I'm using the camlink 4k
@@MrBlackReviews when I use elgato capture software with my camlink 4k. it says source is 480... When I use my GoPro hero 7 black it doesn't even connect now where it used to!! although my Sony alpha 6300 can go all the way up to 4K capture. I ordered a new cable from Amazon as that can be the only variable.

Toxic 😂 so I asked you this before but my go pro as web cam works but after 15 min starts shaking and the picture starts twitching so weird any suggestions
Thanks for the video. Would the Gopro 9, media mod and a 4K60 Pro mk.2 get you 240 fps to your pc? AFAIK, the Gopro 9 is the only camera that lets you use 240 fps out of the hdmi. But i do not know if it actually works.
Hello. How about they battery? Can you use it without the battery? I ask you this because it usuallly increase they temperature when the battery is inside.
Ya. I don’t know why they took that away 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ I really hope they bring it back . I heard that another company like dji or Insta360 had the patent on it,
I think on my link in the description they have that link but its like a Facebook group or something. The top pinned comment has the direct link for it :)
@@MrBlackReviews I downloaded it and it never working on my PC. Actually could not bring in the camera via USB. Then my PC went to blue screen so I deleted it and went HDMI out from the media mod as I did with the Hero 8.
Uh that must have been annoying . I have no idea why they didn’t put more time into this software. I bet they didn’t know how many people would want to use it as a webcam. Hopefully they will update it soon. However, the hdmi webcam looks great too
I’m hoping you see this, but I have a Go Pro 8 Black with a media mod, and cam link set up for my live stream on twitch. And I can’t seem to get the pro tune options you have on the app.extremely frustrating trying to get my settings right not having a preview of the video while adjusting the settings and can’t tell if I have the “best” settings because I can’t get a live view of what it’s going to look like with that lighting… any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Grizz Mayn... first off i am so sorry i am so late to this comment.. i am just now trying to catch up.. but right after i made this video they took that option off, i think some other company had a patent on it for some reason. it was crazy!!
Have a hero 9 that I used to live stream on Facebook via obs using a camlink 4k. Had a cheap off the shelf 500 Walmart tower, and used it for a long time. I started to have a lot of pixelated lives due to not having a graphics card. I bought a new gaming computer with a graphics card. Tried to hook the gopro up, but can only get it to work with webcam mode, and not the camlink. I’ve updated everything, I’ve downloaded the 4k utility, and the gopro utility. It immediately defaults to webcam mode, and I never had the option with my old setup, the camlink was the only way it would work. Any help would be appreciated!
Hey Danny. before buying the media mod, I would connect my usb-c cable straight from my macbook air to my gopro 10, turn on gopro webcam and BAM... all set... I bought the media mod more for outdoor use and notice that if I plug in my usb-c to that and try to connect to the mac, it doesnt work anymore. I see in your video that you take a different approach. Have you found its the only way the media mod will connect to the laptop, by using the mini hdmi adapter to the hdmi cable?
G'day Danny! Protune via the Quick App doesn't seem to work for me (on the GoPro 10) like you show for the 9 in this video. None of the settings like ISO/White Balance/Shutter are available. Not sure if it's just me or if we need to wait for GoPro's next update? ProTune does show in the Quick App but you can only adjust a couple of 'Media Mod' settings. I tried pulling the GoPro 10 out of the Media Mod but then Protune doesn't show at all in the Quick App. Do you experience the same issue? Cheers
Hi Nettleand... thanks so much for reaching out. Yea it is weird that right after I made this video they took that option away. I dont know why, and they didnt really make any statements, they just took it away. (🤦♂️)
@@MrBlackReviews the application for the cam link comes up. But when i connect the hdmi to the go pro 8 media mod nothing happens. I follow everything that you have said, but nothing, unless my media mod is broken or my cam link 4k is broken. (Which are both fairly new only months old.)
Hello, I'm Brazilian and I apologize for the bad English! But I need some help, I bought a Hero 9 in order to make a webcam, I bought all the necessary accessories to use it as a webcam, however when I connect to the capture card not the video. do you have any other configuration to be done so that the image is transmitted to the capture card? Thanks in advance!
hi... no problem ... this is something that is very confusing but when you plug the hdmi into the gopro the back screen goes black.. there should be an image casted onto whatever platform you are using... i.e. zoom if you select the video source of the hdmi capture card you will see there is small menu option and you have to swipe on the back screen and navigate to the little camera on the top right ... let me know if that helps!
I originally was using the USB-C connection with okay success. It worked great on my Mac, and also worked fine on Windows, except for in OBS. For some reason the video got extremely dark in OBS on Windows, and there was no way to configure the video at all. I ended up ordering the Media Mod, and pairing with the Elgato Cam Link 4k. After similar confusion of how to adjust, I also found that I could adjust on the app and after some tweaking I had a significantly better output than just via USB-C and the GoPro Desktop app. Added benefit is that the overall utilization to encode the video is significantly less with the Cam Link, which is helpful for game streaming as it eats less of my frames during gaming. Overall, I'm happy with the media mod, but I do wish it had an HDMI out by default still to avoid the extra $80 accessory. I also was comparing my GoPro Hero 7 to the 9 (both using Cam Link), and the Hero 9 is quite a bit better in both quality and in color accuracy.
That’s awesome!!! Also ya I wish it was native out as well like on the 7. Did you make a video comparing the 7 and 9 hdmi out ? I might have to check it out
The Problem at me is, I use the Hero 10 with the Media Mod and the is in 1 hour overhead and shut down😒My Battery is inside with Power cable in the Mod at the Micro USB cable to my Cam Link. I can not remove the Battery with Compination with the Mod?why? I think this is the Problem from the OVERHEAD. HMMM?without the Battery inside with the Mod the not works
unfortunately no. it only goes up to 1080p HDMI out. I actually looked into which cameras do, and you would be surprised, most cameras, even DSLR only output 1080
Thanks Danny for the insights :) I was very happy to find that the App works as well with the media mod, too. With a cam link for me on Mac the picture is slightly better but also way more stable and no stuttering like I experienced on USB-C. It really helps that you have the full range of settings in media mod and HDMI to adjust to light and positioning etc. On long webinars the HDMI runs smooth and stable for me (which the USB didn’t sometimes). Also the GoPro does not get as hot. I ran into another issue though, since Camlink and the like consume a lot of your USB-c connector power budget and bandwidth, you want to plan where to plug your peripherals so you don’t overbook your ports and run into yet another issue that way :-D
Wow Daniel. Well written, and great advice. I agree with the cam link vs cheap hdmi for a little Better look and connectivity but only a little better lol. But ya When I figured out I can just use the app .... wow 🤩 I was a happy dude
so the capture card is needed to turn the HDMI to USB as a camera source. So when you select a camera on zoom.. its a device, if you plug something in usb like a mic or usb camera it shows up as a device for video or audio. The HDMI needs the capture card to turn it into a device (I hope that cleared it up)
Hello, someone knows how to remove display ? because i have the % ou of the battery in the top right corner and the time record remaining in the top left corner. thank you
When you’re on the preview screen if you click the capture button you’ll see a list pop up it should be the far right option on the screen and it’ll remove the battery percentage and all the other info that’s in the way
Boom boom boom so when using as a webcam my go pro started doing fast forward and I was being recorded almost boomerrang and my body flickering why does this happen after 10 min of recording
hey runningintoyoga... did you resolve this? sorry for the late reply just catching up on comments. Are you recording on the gopro and using it as a webcam (via HDMI?)
You rock dude, this was the exact video I needed. Media Mod HDMI looked like crap...until I found this video. And the Pro Tip that you can use the app was HUGE. I was heading back to USB-C and questioning my life decision to purchase the mod, but now it looks a heck of a lot better than the USB. The Webcam software is so unstable (can't get a pic up half the time in either Elgato Capture or OBS) and not to mention the stutter, HDMI + Cam Link is my preferred route. Thanks for making this video and allowing me to keep my faith in the Media Mod.
Thanks so much for writing that Matt! It makes me pumped to see someone be as pumped as me making it :) I have noticed using the media mod (and I need to do some future testing) but like after 30 mins the picture does something weird and it’s like you need to stop and give it a few mins and then it will work for over an hour after that (might be longer but haven’t tested that yet ) not sure if it’s a “plugged in, or low battery” issue but I’ll get to the bottom of it
I find the Hero getting pretty hot with the Media Mod, possible thermal problem? Haven’t noticed anything yet at 30 mins (but honestly wasn’t looking for it). The HDMI does well for streaming, what about recording? Any noticeable difference between the capture of the HDMI vs. native recording?
I am a little confused by your connections. I currently have my monitor hooked up to my 2019 Macbook Pro. I also have to have my computer plugged in which leaves me no other places to plug in. Are you using a dock or hub? I'm going to use my new monitor and Hero 9 primarily for live art classes.
Hello...is it absolutely a MUST that we have a video capture card? I have the media mod and plugged in the HDMI to Mini HDMI and I’m not getting anything pop up on my computer indicating it’s connected. Am I missing something??
So if you are plugging into an hdmi port to your computer most of those are hdmi out, and you are needing to turn your hdmi into a device that your webcam can select. So it is a must on that regard☺️ but the cheap ones are here and work great :)
Rec'd the capture card, still no dice. I'm lost and confused. I can't seem to even get my gopro set up as a webcam in Zoom, open in either OBS or AMD Scened editor. I have the lastest CPU and GPU so unsure what is going on. Could use some guidance if you're available.
@@theeactivone2179 so sometimes it’s confusing with the hdmi because it doesn’t immediately show the camera mode. You have to navigate on the black screen swipe over (on your computer screen, you should see a little camera icon. In the top right) you swipe over to that and just press the black screen on the gopro like it’s a button
@@MrBlackReviews Is this for Mac or PC? I have a PC and when I connect the micro hdmi to the media mod, the back screen goes black and the front monitor of hero 9 shows a hdmi logo. We have been using the GoPro App for control and monitoring of an older GoPro 4 mounted on top of our vehicle. We recently purchased the GoPro 9 and were surprised to discover that they have removed the ability to monitor content while in the Record mode. As real-time monitoring of content while recording is essential, we're wondering - - as opposed to returning the GoPro 9 - - whether the HDMI output of the Media Mod is active during Recording? This would give us the option of setting up a hardwired, or possibly wireless, in-vehicle monitor.
yes if you connected your gopro to hdmi monitor you can view it there... yes very annoying that they removed it, i think they will bring it back with the next update (just a guess) because everyone has been complaining about it!

so..out the box, the camlink+hdmi doesnt work for me. how will it get power without the battery? does the hdmi connection provide it? haha sorry for the dumb questions, im new at this
Oh not a dumb question. It might actually be that the gopro when connected to hdmi looks like it’s off but you just have to navigate on a black screen ... it’s a weird thing.
Yes it is and you don’t need the media mod . One problem I’ve found with the 7 is that sometimes it could get laggy up to 2-3 seconds (not always) but sometimes
@@MrBlackReviews Just yesterday I bought the GoPro hero 9 and testing the hero 7 with video capture looks much better than the hero 9 with USBC. I will continue to use 7 for video calls and 9 for adventures. :) excellent channel
ya the USBC is good if you are in a pinch and want something better than your facetime camera... but the more lighting the better! HDMI because you can adjust the settings seems to look a lot better
If you are using the GoPro as a webcam... LIGHT lots of LIGHT will make the footage look better. I have my GoPro 9 going out into a ATEM mini pro via HDMI out. Everything works great but it still shows the battery level. Is there a way to get this turned off?
Danny, using the media mod, I can pull up the profile on my phone, but below Protune, I only get short cuts. How do I get the full editing capabilities you show at time 2:13?
It does but in my opinion, unless you are really brightly lit or outside it’s not worth having on. I don’t think it’s possible to get a preview on a second monitor unfortunately but that would be cool
I've been trying to fine tune the video through HDMI using my phone but I have no way to access these settings through the phone, not sure how you're doing it. I have an android phone so not sure if the IOS versions and the android versions are different or not. I'm using a mirabox capture card with it, creating a preset on the camera worked sort of but i still need to play with the exposure and iso settings since my room is not that well lit.
so oddly ... ive had some people ask me about it... and i just checked.. i guess they took that off on the latest app update??? so weird, why would they do that???
@@MrBlackReviews hahaha thanks for confirming, yeah it is odd to remove such a nice feature out of the blue. Someone wrote to me recently about this very problem. They were convinced it was a bad go pro or media mod... but they just didn’t realize that when you turn it on and connect via hdmi, it doesn’t immediately launch the camera, you have to swipe your fingers left or right on the blank screen to select camera mode and then just tap the screen
Not it actually did good on mine. I know what you mean about the usbc audio sync. It was off by like 1 second, enough to notice. Sometimes it comes down the the computer processing it. But I think I’m this instance it’s a gopro thing that will hopefully get resolved on a firmware update
It’s definitely less on HDMI because the processing on the webcam plug-in induces lag. But Danny is right, your processing power will make the most impact overall. If I just connect HDMI and an external USB mic it is sub second and barely noticeable. When you go through some processing you may want to adjust the sound output by processing it along side the picture.
Hey Danny, I bought all of the cables/media mod for the Hero 9 and I am trying to use it as a webcam. The problem that I am running into is the preview for the camera after being plugged in is like you are remoting into the camera vs using it as a camera. It is similar to seeing a screenshot of the gopro screen with a preview of previously recorded videos. I have tried both USB connection options on the camera as well. Any idea what I might be facing here?
So what you need to do is swipe on the blank black screen over and click the camera button (if you are connected in hdmi you can see the preview on your computer screen) that should set you straight
Hi Danny, you were super helpful before so I thought I would ask. I want to go HDMI micro out of the GoPro Hero9 to HDMI in to an ATEM mini that is connected to my laptop. This actually worked with my GoPro Hero3 - but it doesn't seem to work w/ the 9. Any thoughts?
Just double checking .. you are using the media mod to go out of the hero 9? Because that’s the only way (for now) that you can hey the hdmi out from the gopro... if you are using the media mod and still are getting nothing, it’s usually because the screen goes blank on the 9 when it’s connected , you have to use the preview from ATEM to navigate

When I have mine set up with the Media Mod, it will randomly beep and shut off after about 15 minutes. I use it without the battery because if I use the battery, the battery just drains anyways. How can I get it to not auto shut off?
Is it just the screen shutting off or the whole thing? I did this recently where I had it plugged in to power and after 30 mins it shut off. Then I unplugged it and it worked great for a good while (it didn’t shut off on me)
Hey Danny. Have you noticed they’ve removed the protune settings from the GoPro app. Now I can’t edit will plugged into my capture card! Is there a workaround?

Ya I know what you are saying. What I did and it seemed to fix it was to run on battery first and the like 30 mins in plug it in and then I don’t know if it goes off or not again but you can unplug it
Great videos! I have a question: I'm preparing a 60-hour (yes :-)) live stream through ATEM and OBS. Would you recommend the Hero 9? HDMI out to ATEM, and USB for permanent power? And a mic in the media mod? Thanks for your advice!
Great Hero 9 videos, especially the content focus on using it as webcam. Question - I need to use Hero 9 in my classroom as webcam for instruction to students over Microsoft Teams. I have been using USBc and GoPro software but need a wireless mic so I can freely walk around classroom while teaching. So I just purchased Rode Go wireless mic. What config would you suggest - media mod with hdmi capture and connect Rode Go to Hero or USBc and plug Rode Go into laptop for audio?
First off, thanks so much for the kind words! Ya the media mod and hdmi capture would be your best choice with using the wireless go. The wireless go and other mics like that won’t just plug into a computer as a source, but also there would probably be a lag between audio and video using usbc .
@@MrBlackReviews Thanks for the guidance ... I’ve got the media mod on order. I still need the HDMI capture device tho. The link in the comments for the cheap HDMI capture isn’t working. I checked on both the videos where you posted it. Any help with another Amazon source? Thanks

Great video, helped me a lot with my GoPro over my piano keyboard for my other piano-teaching-channel. One tip fo similar usage is to rake out the GoPro battery altogether and connect via the usb c output of the media mod directly to a well charger . @@jiiggsj with your settings I don’t have any experience, sorry. But may be disconnecting the USB C from the computer and using a power bank or as I do a wall charger is the solution. Better only use a 5 Volt Wall charger only, though! Some of the newer USB C to USB C wall chargers deliver up to 60 Watts and might damage your GoPro. With an old fashioned USB A wall charger and 2 ampere on 5 Volt you should be fine, as I am, not having any problems so far using my GoPro 9 as a secondary cam on continuous power for hours from the wall charger. Interesting. I’ll give it a try tomorrow and see... I never had that problem. Is it just the screen on the gopro that goes off or is it the connection? Sorry I just have to ask.
Do you have the USBC connected to power while using the camera? It will need constant power supply in this setup otherwise your battery will drain quite fast. Could also be a heating issue.
Thank you for the insightful video. I had a quick question, instead of having to buy the media mod and all the extra chords, could you just buy a USB-C to HDMI chord? And plug that into the capture card? It seems like that would be a lot cleaner and cheaper setup.

Ya I wish it was just that much easier . Looking at it from their side, that could make the argument that they are selling an action cam and selling the body for cheaper and then adding the extras of you need it (if that makes sense) but I would prefer it just have that hdmi on there
Hey Danny love the video! Quick question. I just purchased the go pro hero 9 with the cam link and I cannot get it to work and I don't understand why. @@MrBlackReviews I actaully purchased the media mod with the cam link and cant seem to get it to work wiothout having massive feedback or something coming from the go pro. Its like a loud piercing noise. No idea what is up with it
I could be missing something, but I think the android version of the Quik app doesn't let you adjust ISO, white balance, etc.. The only thing I get under protune settings is is whether or not to use the media mod mic. :( edit: nvm, looks like this feature was deliberately removed (???) sometime around january, which is baffling. 2nd edit: looks like they did this because they've introduced a new piece of hardware called The Remote which does this. So basically they get more money because you now need a new piece of physical hardware to edit protune settings with out having to disconnect from the HDMI every time.
ya louis, it was crazy that they removed that feature. I think it had something to do with a patent infringement or something. so hopefully they will open it up with the new OPEN gopro idea.
Awesome video Danny! I just got my GoPro 9. Two issues that I noticed with the USB C connection for webcam: 1) The webcam video has a noticeable lag/delay around 300-400 ms. 2) I couldn't figure out how to change the webcam video settings. Did you find any fixes for these 2? Looks like the media mod fixes both of these issues and offers more versatility, but I'd love to figure out a way to fix that without spending a couple hundred $$$.
The only thing I would try is a better quality usbc that could help, but not sure if it fixes it. Now if it’s just a delay from your audio it might be cheaper to get software (maybe free) and you can delay your audio to match the video. Hopefully they will fix these in a webcam update. The media mod solution is good but ya costs, but I would suggest the cheaper hdmi capture card so you dont need to go out and buy a $200 camlink
Danny your gopro tip videos are much appreciated!! thanks so much! was wondering if you had a new link for the cheaper hdmi capture card. The Link you posted no longer works. thanks again for all the gopro vids and YES to your Apple Iphone tips videos too!!

Great videos Danny! I'm loving all your Hero 9 tips. I don't have the media mod yet (it's in the mail), but while playing around with my settings, I can't seem to get mine to match yours? For example on 1080p video my option is 24fps, not 25? and for the shutter speed, I only have 1/48, not 1/50? What do you think the deal is? Help from anyone else that sees this comment would be great too.
First off, thanks so much for the kind words.. So I have mine set to PAL not NTSC ... this is because of a different voltage here in Australia. So some of the lights flicker like crazy if it’s not in PAL which is why it’s set to 25 instead of 30

Great video ... Can you record 4K/5K on the card inside Gopro 10 while you using media mod HDMI output for webcam ?
Yes you can.
I might have to check it out
Sad they did away with the HDMI connector on the GoPro itself. The mod seems to just be a USB to HDMI adapter so wondering if any adapter would work.
Cheers man. Great video... 'Amon Tobin - Slowly.'
Is there a 4K output on HDMI?
unfortunately no. it only goes up to 1080p HDMI out.
What do you need the capture card for?
so the capture card is needed to turn the HDMI to USB as a camera source. So when you select a camera on zoom.. its a device, if you plug something in usb like a mic or usb camera it shows up as a device for video or audio. The HDMI needs the capture card to turn it into a device (I hope that cleared it up)
@@MrBlackReviews is it just a hub adaptor of sorts? Clear as mud! 😄Cheers
Hello, someone knows how to remove display ? because i have the % ou of the battery in the top right corner and the time record remaining in the top left corner. thank you
When you’re on the preview screen if you click the capture button you’ll see a list pop up it should be the far right option on the screen and it’ll remove the battery percentage and all the other info that’s in the way

hey runningintoyoga... did you resolve this? sorry for the late reply just catching up on comments.
@@MrBlackReviews thank you Danny....I have a video capture card on its way.

This would give us the option of setting up a hardwired, or possibly wireless, in-vehicle monitor.

ya the USBC is good if you are in a pinch and want something better than your facetime camera... but the more lighting the better! HDMI because you can adjust the settings seems to look a lot better
What do you recommend for a darker setting room on the GoPro as a webcam, and also is a capture card necessary to use the GoPro 9?
If you are using the GoPro as a webcam... LIGHT lots of LIGHT will make the footage look better. Thats really all you can do with it for now.... as far as the capture card, it is needed to turn the HDMI to USB as a camera source.

@@DanielDNY89 Thanks, I did notice the lag was a lot worse on my old 2600k Vs the newish 3900x computer
@@MrBlackReviews Thank you very much, I will try this out! You are the man.
Thanks your 5 minute vid probably saved me a few hours dinking around and getting frustrated!
haha well im so glad to be of service! 🙏
@@MrBlackReviews thanks Danny - I did get the Media Mod and just having some issues w/ setting etc... Probably just me being a neophyte at this but w/ the Hero3 it was just plug and play - this is a bit more difficult - I have it working some now - but when I unplug it and plug it back in - I get various different displays some mostly just crazy lines - I was trying to figure out if my Media Mod was defective or not... - Thanks - could be a good video.
Then I unplugged it and it worked great for a good while (it didn’t shut off on me)
@@MrBlackReviews The whole GoPro shuts off. I lose the feed in OBS because it shuts off. Not just the display. Is there an Auto- Shut off setting?
Hey Danny. Have you noticed they’ve removed the protune settings from the GoPro app. Now I can’t edit will plugged into my capture card! Is there a workaround?
Oh interesting. Isn’t it still there they just don’t call it pro tune on the app but you can go into the settings of the preset and change the iso and exposure . I’ll try it tomorrow and double check but I’m pretty sure it should still work
Why only 25 fps..u can't go any higher?? With a capture card?
I just got the go pro so I can stream on twitch playing games and go on adventures all in one. I got the media mod, elgato cam link and premium cord and I get it to work but the annoying thing that I seem to run into is when I want to stream for hours I want it to charge at the same time and my go pro seems to turn off when I got the type c plugged in and the hdmi out have you ran into this issue or know any fixes. ?
Ya I know what you are saying. What I did and it seemed to fix it was to run on battery first and the like 30 mins in plug it in and then I don’t know if it goes off or not again but you can unplug it
this is exactly what i was hoping for. this is why i wanted the gopro instead of the insta for webcamming. this one has the solid hdmi out.
yea its not to bad when you put in the right settings.. most people expect to plug in and everything be like a 5000 camera lol
Thanks
Oh thanks for letting me know. I think that they keep changing over to other stores because they don’t have the licensing from hdmi which is why cam link is so high in price ... but if you search for hdmi video capture in Amazon you should find a good one :)
This is awesome, not far away from 10k now 👌👌

Great video, helped me a lot with my GoPro over my piano keyboard for my other piano-teaching-channel. One tip fo similar usage is to rake out the GoPro battery altogether and connect via the usb c output of the media mod directly to a well charger . Results in ultimate long video sessions without heating up the GoPro as much and probably saving the battery life as well
Oh thanks yogi I never considered to try that!! Great tip! Might make did a good video :)
No thats not working !!! I plug USB c and micro hdmi setup. works well with battery but not turning on after removal of it.
@@jiiggsj Hmm, I use this setting without the battery installed via HDMI out and it is working without any problem. HDMI directly into ATEM Mini Pro and on to a SSD for later upload to YTube
Power via a wall-plug 5 Volt ( old white iPad charger) USB A to USB C into the GoPro 9
May you can replicate this exact setup and get back to me afterwards.
Thanks
@@MultiKinglarry I am using HDMI micro+hdmi+capture card+computer USB (for webcam set up)
And usbA (from laptop) to USB C (GoPro charging cable). Do you think I need to connect power cable to battery bank or charging pot?
@@jiiggsj with your settings I don’t have any experience, sorry.
But may be disconnecting the USB C from the computer and using a power bank or as I do a wall charger is the solution. Better only use a 5 Volt Wall charger only, though!
Some of the newer USB C to USB C wall chargers deliver up to 60 Watts and might damage your GoPro. With an old fashioned USB A wall charger and 2 ampere on 5 Volt you should be fine, as I am, not having any problems so far using my GoPro 9 as a secondary cam on continuous power for hours from the wall charger. Especially nice with the clean HDMI out via the Media Mod ...
My GoPro will just shut off after 10 minutes when using it as a webcam with the media mod. It will be working fine in OBS but then all of a sudden will beep and shut off after about 10 ish minutes, then I need to turn it on again and get it set up. I's using the Hero 9 with the Media Mod and an HDMI Capture device. Any ideas?
Interesting. I’ll give it a try tomorrow and see... I never had that problem. Is it just the screen on the gopro that goes off or is it the connection? Sorry I just have to ask.
Do you have the USBC connected to power while using the camera? It will need constant power supply in this setup otherwise your battery will drain quite fast. Could also be a heating issue.
great info 🎉
On target with what I'm looking for. 👍
30 or 60 fps ?
You can do 60fps if your capture card allows it
@@MrBlackReviews owh nice.. thanks man
Thank you for the insightful video. I had a quick question, instead of having to buy the media mod and all the extra chords, could you just buy a USB-C to HDMI chord? And plug that into the capture card? It seems like that would be a lot cleaner and cheaper setup.

that is a great question. im intrigued. I did try it with like a computer output usbc but it went to like a hub with hdmi out.. that didnt work. maybe ill buy that cord and try it out
but actually i dont think it will work.. i think they paired it with some type of software chip that is in their media mod, and in their 3.5mm adapter
www.reddit.com/r/gopro/comments/dmaybp/hero_8_usb_c_to_hdmi/?
I guess it won’t work. What a shame they removed the mini HDMI ports on the 8 and 9. I was really hoping it was going to work. It seems so ridiculous that you need to buy the Media Mod just to get HDMI. I just want a great webcam out of it. That’s all. 😅 I’m excited to use it with my Dirt Bike this summer as well!
I have my go pro with a usb c to HDMI adapter which i have connected to the cam link. I wont show any video footage. Just says no signal. AM I using the wrong cables? I noticed you said you use a micro hdmi to hdmi adapter. How does that connect to the go pro hero 9? Or do I just need a media mod?
Hi First Response Fitness... sorry I missed this comment. its been a crazy week and im just now catching up on comments. did you figure this out or still need help?
@@MrBlackReviews I actaully purchased the media mod with the cam link and cant seem to get it to work wiothout having massive feedback or something coming from the go pro. Its like a loud piercing noise. No idea what is up with it
Van Morrison, The Chieftans - Irish Heartbeat
Thanks for the video
Haha awesome! This makes me happy when people put songs in :)
I could be missing something, but I think the android version of the Quik app doesn't let you adjust ISO, white balance, etc.. The only thing I get under protune settings is is whether or not to use the media mod mic. :(
edit: nvm, looks like this feature was deliberately removed (???) sometime around january, which is baffling.

So some of the lights flicker like crazy if it’s not in PAL which is why it’s set to 25 instead of 30
Which also shows as multiples of that. So instead of 30/60/ 120 / 240 ... it’s 25/50/100/200 (I can change it for outside conditions)
@@MrBlackReviews , so would you have your camera set to 30 and not 24fps with hdmi in the States?
