- Jennifer Johnson of Plant Spirit Fibers uses seasonal plants growing on her homestead in Brookfield, Vermont to create these eco-printed silk scarves and other garments. She then dyes them with plant dyes harvested from her land. She and her husband grow their own indigo plants and create their own dye, unusual for her region.

Thank you for watching!
Thank you so so much for not adding background music. It is such a joy to hear the sound of silence and to hear only the natural sounds of people moving around and the soft sounds of nature, the grasshopper, etc. Well done! Groet from Amsterdam
I completely agree ORIGINAL IS REAL
@@mildlywildfamilygemz1757 Yes, so true!

Hi I enjoyed watching your video and found it fascinating. Did you use grease proof paper? Thank you for sharing your wonderful skill s
Besutiful
Qué hermoso!! Felicitaciones!!
THOSE PRINTS WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
IF I COULD GET SOMETHING LIKE THAT ON PAPER.
💜 CAMILLE 🇦🇺
I'm sure you can. Have you ever pressed flowers? Look it up. The pressed flowers are pretty and some will leave an imprint on paper.
Do you soak flowers in vinegar and rust before placing it this way?
What flowers and leaves work best?
It very nice. I went to learn. Please.
Just like cottagecore vlog✨
Haha I did not know about this genre! Thanks for watching :)
Wonderful, congratulations ... and how is the result, can you wash the cloth?
Wow
👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Kadının gösterirkenki mutluluğu 🥺😍
Is it baking paper? Also when you put it in the barrel . Is it heated? & about how long??Love the ideas & inspirations!
Is that cotton you are using ti roll the plants?
beautiful result but didn't really learn from it, a little explanation on the process would be helpful.
Hi Jenny, I definitely hear you, lol. The funny thing is that I made this only to be a preview of my documentary about this person and her lifestyle, not as a tutorial. It’s wonderful that so many people who are interested in learning this craft have found this video, and I regret that I cannot help in the how-to department. Luckily I think there are many other great tutorials on RUclips. If you find an excellent one that answers the questions left from this one, will you post it? That will help redirect people who are looking to learn the techniques and I might even put it in the description. Thank you very much for watching!
Do we have to steam it or put it in boiling water
Very beautiful! I was intrigued by the lighter prints on darker background, like how is that possible?
I don’t know but you are right that is part of why it was so breathtaking when she revealed the results! I wonder if it is because the pigment in the flowers is so powerful.
Which paper is used for covering flowers
Is it parchment paper?
So beautiful and inspiring. The fabric has to be dyed before or after ecoprinting on it? Greetings from Italy
Thank you for watching! Jennifer would dye some fabric before printing but it isn’t necessary. She added more dye after in some cases. Divertiti!
What textile is good for this?
What kind of paper did you wrap the flowers with and where did you get the scarves from. Thank you
Parchment paper
Can you tell me what fabric you use?
What type of fabric is used?
Hi, i want to ask you.. how do you mordant the fabric to ecoprint? thank you
Alum and iron mordant
Wondering what that beautiful black/red flower is? Looks like Black Hollyhock but could be something else.
I believe they were hollyhocks, yes. Thanks for watching!
before you put the flower, did you just wet the fabric using water?
I am just the filmmaker, but I am pretty sure it was just water.
Yes though the fabric was mordanted in alum and iron
Great video. How she get ombre effect?
She did it by hand, slowly dipping it further into the dye pot. Thanks for watching!
Lovely 😍! Did you put the roll into a furnace? Did you use chemicals?
I believe it was a steamer she put it in and she does not use any chemicals. You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching!
@@landfoodcraft Thanks for the information 👍🏻
Which colth you used
Silk? Vinegar? Thanks
So, does the print in the cloth remains forever or disappears when washing? Just curious
Forever and ever :)
@@landfoodcraft ah good to know. Thanks !
Beautiful
No. You have to add mordant( before) and fixing (after)… otherwise it will disappear/evanescence…
Can u tell what paper is that maam thank u
Looks like cooking paper
what is the paper? is it baking paper?
what are the fabrics material you use in this video?
Silk
What type of fabric do you use please? Beautiful work bty xx
I believe it was silk. You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching!
Silk
Which mordant you were used
I'm not sure Jennifer will see this question but if you'd like to contact her, her website is www.plantspiritfibers.com. Thanks for watching!
Alum and iron are used for mordant
Alum and iron for mordant
It’s beautiful! Does the stain come off if you washed it? In palming to use this technique on dresses
I don't believe it ever fades with washing, sorry for late reply. Did you have any luck? You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching!
@@landfoodcraft it’s cool. I tried on linen it kinda worked but our humidity in my country the insects would try to live on the stain I think it’s it pigments. Planning to add vinegar so the color will be vibrant and hope stick permanently on the fabric.
@@breeesplanada8528 Cool! I hope you get good results this time. ❤️
@@landfoodcraft I hope so too!
❤️❤️❤️
How fix the colour
Hi!! Love the result. What type of paper is the one you are using to roll the fabric with?
I do not know exactly but it seemed very similar to parchment paper. That might be what it was.
Qual o nome dessa planta????
Can i know what kind of fabric you use for eco-printing?
Looks like silk
The colour of the fabric is brown?
@@wickandde yeah, it's look like silk fabric, the texture. But i am not sure if 100% silk or not.
@@kavitajilkar8784 they dyed it first before eco printing, or can be after.
I believe she was using silk in this video. Her website is in the description if you would like more info. Thanks for watching!
Seperti batik
Has any chemical been used? Will the color last longer? What can be done with clothes?
in Indonesia we use "Tawas" for color last longer, in english might be potassium alum
I don't believe she uses any chemicals. I think this technique can be used for many different fibers, so probably clothing too. You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching!
It has been boiled???
The fabric was steamed after having the plants applied. You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching!
You have not telling what type of clothes and in which water for how much time send details
Hey can u Help me For Ecoprint Process please please please .....
Hello, I hope you were able to find other videos that have more instruction because I think there are many. I made this more as a portrait of an artist, less of an instructional. You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching and good luck with your crafting!
From Pak🕊fantastic & amazing... would like to place online order how & where? Pls respond. Thank You
Hello, thank you for watching! Jennifer does have an online shop on her website. Here is a link and you can find contact information for her there as well: plantspiritfibers.com/products
Best to you!
What's that machine?
I think you are referring to the steamer. I don’t remember how it was powered but it creates concentrated steam so that the pigments of the plants can bind to the fabric. I’m just the observer so don’t quote me on how it works! :) Thanks for watching.
Just a pot with water in it placed over heat
Steaming time?
I don't remember but I think it was something like half an hour. Hopefully other videos have more instructions for you. Thank you for watching!
