Great list overall! I agree with your rankings although I think NFS4 should have ranked much higher. I think it was the best arcade racer of that generation. I don't want to spoil top places for the people reading the comments so I am just going to say that I agree with you on no.1 as the original made a much bigger impact than the successor. I actually prefer the original in many ways. One small criticism, for future videos either lower the game volume (while you are speaking) or raise your speaking volume since sometimes I would barely hear what you are saying.
To tighten up this list and include more games you could have picked the best games where games series are concerned. So only 1 in the Ridge Racer series, 1 in the Wipeout series, 1 in the Toca series etc.
This is a really useful and comprehensive video, but in all honesty I was distracted by your presentation style. The narration is montone and difficult to listen to.
The lack of emotion in the presentation, the amount of times you said “in the end”, and the fact that you *DARED* to call CTR better than Mario Kart whist showing some of the jankiest gameplay footage I’ve ever seen. This is the most sobering video on PS1 racing games I’ve ever seen.
Honorable mentions. Jet Moto 2, Tyco R/C Assault With A Battery and Motorhead.
Jet moto 2 and Motorhead are 2 games I will never ever sell. Incredible games
