  • This is my review of the Faber Castell pitt artist brush pens. I will show you how they work and give you my opinion on whether or not they are worth it. I talk about how they fray quickly but I just found out that you can flip the nib around so that helps a little! If you have any other questions about them, please leave them in the comments! I hope this helps you decide if these brush pens are right for you! #handlettering #brushpen

    You make it look so easy! I just bought a set on clearance at Michaels, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get clean lines! I’m happy with my thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes, it’s the transition between the two that I’m having a ton of trouble with. I’m not sure that practice will make perfect 😂

    • @EnsignInsights
      @EnsignInsights  5 лет назад +7

      Oh that’s tricky! It depends on so many things! These pens are pretty firm but bouncy so if you’re doing a really thick downstroke it might be hard to get a smooth transition. Make sure you start lifting the pressure of the pen before you hit the bottom of the curve. There are other things too so maybe try different pens and different things with your pen! I hope some of that helps!

    Enjoy useing the Faber Castell love the sturdy lightfast colours thanks for sharing! Also they are double barreled (reversible nibs). They tend to fray sometimes. You're one of my favourite handletterers so artistic ! :)

      The Wandering Writs Thank you for being here! And yes although they fray, maybe it makes up for it in being able to flip them around!

    I have a full set of these pens and they do blend beautifully. I love them. You just have to know how to use them.

    i love this pen sooo much!! its kind of stiff so its very easy to control for me.. its a little pricey but worth it!! if you have small hands too, try these! i recently got a few tombows but they are HUGE, so its a little wonky to work :(

    I'd gotten a black one a while ago and it's my least favourite brush pen I've used so far. I used it on printer paper and it frayed in 2 days and is now not usable for lettering. I was very disappointed. I love Faber-Castell as a brand and most of there products still and I did like the ink!

    • @EnsignInsights
      @EnsignInsights  5 лет назад +1

      Yes!! I know exactly what you mean! They fray so quickly! But you can flip the brush tip around, but even then it gives you a couple more days 🤷‍♀️

    • @yohello6799
      @yohello6799 5 лет назад +5

      Maybe because you should not use it on a printer paper. Most of the brush pens must be used on smooth paper.

    This pens are awesome when you have a lot of practice. Like hers... but if you need to buy them for your personal collection it is an excellent choice.

    I’m a beginner at calligraphy, and I started using this brand, and I personally think that they are too flexible or too stiff which makes it very difficult to write think strokes. I’m trying to buy a tombow dual brush pen. What are you opinions?

    • @yeah3771
      @yeah3771 5 лет назад +4

      Yes, theses pens are not great for beginners, I would not recommend the dual brush pen since it’s also kind of flexible. I wouldn’t recommend flexible pens for beginners since it can be hard to control so I would recommend the tombow fudonosuke hard tip brush pen since the tip is a bit more hard not super hard but still very good.

    • @jay-ts8ux
      @jay-ts8ux 5 лет назад

      Yasmine Karkouch i totally agree!! Its really hard to get thick down strokes! I am a beginner and i find the lighter tombow colours easier to control than the darker colours- not sure why?

    • @virgo6723
      @virgo6723 5 лет назад +1

      If you are a begginer you should get Artline stix because it is more stiff and easy to control. It comes in many colour although the black is a bit transparent.

    Would love to have a link to the exact pens used. I'm an absolute beginner and trying to order online is a pain. I want a pen that bends, brush pen. But Faber-Castell website doesn't really show me the different types. Hopefully I'll choose the right one, but it would been nice to have some code or name or anything to be able to differentiate them.

    • @Maria_Viola
      @Maria_Viola 5 лет назад

      Just like how much you like them and how they bleed and blend, the colors, do they fray easy, can you blend with water and other stuff

      @EnsignInsights  5 лет назад

      That’s a great question! I haven’t tried it so I don’t know! It would depend how opaque it is. I have seen some people use the white on black paper so it’s worth a try!

    It’s a shame these type of felt tips fray so quickly. When they are sharp (the first 30 minutes) they are the best pens ever.
