Got to love the trail video format... yes, cool. Subbed.

Anything to break up these stiff booktube patterns. I think this was the first one I did.
Lots of authors were also prolific walkers so it's kind of fitting.
      Thanks for watching!

Fewer edits, no patreon, no over exaggerated hand motions, and no open mouth thumbnails. Got it. Sounds like a reasonable formula.

New Jersey is The Garden State. Most people just think of Atlantic City or A good place to view New York City from a distance when you mention New Jersey. I have a few tourist guides from N.J. We started our channels around the same time and did the same thing. I deleted all my videos around April 1st and it was at least 40 videos and shorts combined. I seriously regret doing that. I used to film in front of the camera(phone) but it was too much of a chore for me to do that so now I just hold my phone and record. I rarely if ever visit booktube channels that have thousands of subscribers. I just feel that I would get lost in the clique. A few things you mentioned I didn't understand. I use close captions and it would show you saying "cuts"? but I'm not sure that is what you were actually saying? Anyway, I agree with the things you say. Keep on doing what you're doing. Thanks -James

Just yesterday I was thinking about how you used to film your self. Haven't "seen" you in awhile. I find it easier to focus if I can see myself for some reason.
I don't know what I was saying if it wasnt "cuts". Maybe I was talking about the way a lot if the videos are edited, they "cut" (edit) out all their pauses and verbal fillers.
I had a few shorts on the channel with thousands of views but the content was much different and I think it was confusing the algorithm so I took them down.

@@HideAndRead. Yeah you were talking about editing so it must been about editing the video. The room that I used to record me in front of the camera is really hot(no central air) and I have to set up a microphone thing and move stuff around. It takes awhile but mostly it's just too hot. This winter I will start back being in front of the camera.

That’s some nice looking land! And you have some good points in there especially about if your just starting out and don’t like you video or something on it just give it some time. We all start off doing this not knowing what’ll work or necessarily how to get use to talking to a camera or a laptop or cell phone.

Your making me making me want to touch grass. I really enjoy your channel bro. It's very what you see, is what you get. I appreciate the lessons since I'm still starting out. Although I am guilty to waving my hands. As a New Yorker I've just grown up talking with my hands. I agree with you though. I definitely feel a bit like an outcast. I have no intention to monetize my channel. I do it because its simply fun. Once it's not fun anymore. That will be the end of the videos.

      Thank you bro.
Appreciate that, I lose about 2 subscribers for every 3 that I get so.... I'm happy to hear you enjoy the content.
Not for everyone but that was never the intention anyway.
I used to wave my hands a lot more and it is useful, but after awhile it became a crutch.
I think you are very fortunate to of just stumbled into this zone, not because of me lol but there are a bunch of cool creators adjacent to this channel that are not easy to find. (And now you are one of them)

Think I might have to start making my own Trail videos, seems to be a hit maker. Was thinking maybe getting this little posse of ours a small creator discord to chat in for westerns and other book and hobby related stuff. See if anyone's interested

    • @HideAndRead
      @HideAndRead  Месяц назад

something like discord is a good idea, I thought about it myself but keeping the discord active is another hobby on an already long list. I would absolutely join and regularly comment and share there. Also considered creating a group email list. RUclips is awesome, but not conducive to sincere conversations.
Yes please make some of these trail videos, I bet your surroundings look a bit different than my current location.
      Thanks for watching!

😂 Open mouth thumbnails. I love it! Lol some interesting points here. I have to agree with you. True violence is quick and ugly. It's not choreographed like you see on TV where it lasts a long time and it's pretty. Hollywood romanticizes violence and true violence is nothing like that. I would say I've gotten away from the bigger channels because of what feels like fakeness. A smaller channel seem to be a little more real. We're reading bizarre things for suggesting unpopular things or not reading or suggesting the latest trend in most cases. Yeah so it just feels less fake. I'm glad to see you're doing trail videos. I know Kevin has been doing a lot of these but don't forget I was the first one to do these types of videos and I don't want him getting full credit for that. 😂 Although I will say he motivated me to get my rear end back out there. Always love a good rant video so thank you. Keep them coming

Preaching to the choir here mostly.
I started watching booktube with the smaller channels, then I found the larger ones and tried to be friendly with them.... oops
I liked this format, will definitely do more rambling and ranting but something more positive next time (no promises)
I haven't done too much walking this year so this gives me a good excuse.
      Have a great weekend.

I'm terribly uncool. I don't have trail videos. I have driveway videos. LOL Was that an arrow on the trail? Were you going the oppisite direction? 😁 I saw a comment by you on James's channel @Littlebiglibrary. It annoys me when booktubers put content for "members only." I think I have unsubscribed from them all because of that. It's sad that people are charging others to talk about books. And the people paying for it? A fool and his money are soon parted?
I've heard about the call to violence on booktube, but I haven't seen it. (I don't know which channels are doing it, but I'm not surprised. Disgusted, but not surprised.) Booktube is an echo chamber. I've been on a lone island for about four years. Waving your hands around? I talk with my hands, especially if I'm really passionate about the topic. LOL I just uploaded a very long video and had to cut out all of my "um's, and's, so's" and a few coughs. I don't think viewers want to hear me coughing in their ears. I'm not skilled enough or technologically savvy enough to make the cuts seamless. But I don't do it for vanity. I don't even have a ringlight. 🤣 I must be a nutcase. I enjoy sharing books and it was a very few viewers and commenters that kept this channel on. I felt like erasing the channel, but my son wanted to keep it up. Since we share the channel, I left it up. Now that I've listened to your irks, I'm going to check out some of your other videos.

Walk about videos are sooo two days ago. It's all about driveway videos now.
I'm trying very hard to remove all the ummms and uhhhs from my speech.... not an easy task. I'm really guilty of that one.
I've seen a few of your videos with your son, that's really cool.
I'm not shy but Ive learned over time not to force myself on others, now you've opened pandoras box and I'll be all over the comment section!

@@HideAndRead LOL I'm happy to hear I was ahead of the fad. I can tolerate the ands and ums, it's the "likes" I have a hard time listening to. Oh you have? And you haven't said hello? yes, please. We'd love to have you. 🤗
