Help me navigate this genre. Preferably Historical but not necessarily. I already read a lot of frontier stories so that's most likely the easiest entry point. Educate me in the comments 📚

He has a video on his channel with his face on it…it’s haunting! 😂
I'm boycotting that video until I meet him face to face or he changes the channel name.
A Book Package to Die For!
Wow! That is the Best book mail ever! You have won the Louis L'Amour lottery! The Holy Grail of Book Mail. You are one Lucky Dude. I know that you will enjoy that for a long time to come. Take Care -Speechless.
I agree! These are definitely in the lifetime library section. I've made lots cool friends this past year, hopefully one day I'll be able to meet a few of them in person.
Wow!, that’s a big collection!, very happy for you, that’s a great gift!
There's a few kind souls out there in booktube land.
Wow! What a great stand up guy Faceless is. I almost feel guilty about giving him a hard time occasionally.😂
Oh never feel bad... If I'm not being picked on I start to think people are mad at me.
..... Almost.
😂 had to laugh at the all caps comment. Lol... Just be glad it wasn't written with clipping of newspapers and magazines... That's a whole other level of crazy. Glad those made it to you safe and sound. I know you will love them. ❤ 😂 Spreading the joy of LL one book at a time.
LOVE YOU BROTHER. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND BOOKMAIL.
Great video and great collection. Lots of cool covers and titles; good variety of genres too. Looks like is gonna be a busy and fun couple of months for you and your chanel.
Variety is the spice of life. ❤
😮 say it ain’t so
Can't stop. Won't stop. 🙂
Fury From the Tomb sounds amazing!!!
How can I not read that one!?
At work so can't watch this fully. But promise me one thing, cowboy. Don't get rid of your westerns
Yes sir. Westerns are the only part of my library that I consider a lifelong project. Plan on traveling the next few years and gathering up as much material as possible before finding a place to settle down. One of the few things I take seriously.
I vote The King of Satans Eyes! Enjoy!!
Thank you for the gift, forgot you gave me this one. Doh! It's very intriguing to me... its been calling my name since you sent it.
This doesn’t really help but i really enjoy stories of the railroad.
I enjoy the interaction, which helps with making more content! Railroads are fascinating. Always have been, something very impersonal and larger than life that is appealing. I wish it was cheaper to travel by rail here in the USA.
I find these all intriguing but have read exactly none of them with the exception of Ivanhoe (which I really enjoyed). I am no help whatsoever I'm afraid. 🤷♂
I read the first half of Ivanhoe and didn't finish for some reason. I enjoyed everything I read but sometimes that happens with me.
The only one of that bunch I have read is Paper Moon & I loved it. In addition to the movie, there was a short tv series in the mid 70's starring Jodie Foster. It was on RUclips for a while, but not sure it is still around. Take care.
You have good taste so I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the book. I'll be hunting down the tv series, I'll send you a link when I find it. Thanks for the tip, I was oblivious to that.
Ian gave you King of Satan's Eyes. I just wanted it. lol. Quite the stack of stuff you're setting aside my man!
Funny how the memory works... or doesn't! That's right I'm supposed to.send it your way once I finish. Remind me if I forget. Again.
I'm excited for our fellowship read of The Fountainhead. I was really confused when I read The Prince because there was only one thing I disagreed with in it, the abuse of women, but man, women today. smh. I liked the Art of War better, but I really didn't understand why so many people hate The Prince. Someone told me I needed to get The Discourse next, so I have it, but probably won't get to it until next year. Have you read that one? That aubusson rug on the Beelzebub's tales is really pretty. Or is it a Persian rug? I don't think I've read Ivanhoe, but I started Kidnapped last night and I'm sad I never read it to Prometheus when he was younger. (it's a new buy). Packing books for three months is a challenge. I liked Gone With the Wind. I dnf'd Leviathin. Hobbes and I don't get along. Happy reading~
They were told not to like certain people and they blindly follow along. If actually challenged they have nothing to say. I have everything by Machiavelli (I believe) and have read it, but I don't think I fully understand the most of it. My own failing. I didn't really even begin to grasp The Prince until I read "Defenders of Freedom" (thought I did 😅) but just enjoyed the text and spending time with the author. Kidnapped was one of my favorites as a child, it's been well over ten years and about due for a re read. Hobbes is a very disagreeable guy... so that makes sense. I owe him a lot. Relieved me from my libertarian sympathies and got me going back to church. Very bitter medicine and certainly not for everyone. Going to jump into The Fountainhead this week!
Wow what a stack ... I can only say I thought the CS Lewis Space trilogy was good. Good one to keep out!
I really enjoy CS Lewis as a writer and a literary figure. looking forward to reading these.
These are so cool!! I’m going to look for some of these in my local used bookstores! Especially the Dungeons and Dragons ones! I love the cover of The Forest of Doom!
Great Title with a cover to match. Double Win. Happy Hunting! 📚
Yesss!! I’m so excited for this!
i grew up with these i remember one, i fell thriugh the stairs, messed up a black widows web, it got mad and came and bit me, i died the drawing was my hand and the spider drawing near good stufffffff😊
Sounds like one of the weird dreams I've been having lately! Watch out for angry spiders 📚
im definitely in love with that cover youve convinced me to add this author and the west is the best this author?
Correct that is the author. I'm going to message you the name of the artist so you can see the other paintings, remind me if I forget.
Love this so much! The Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone Fighting Fantasy books were my childhood. I started collecting them again when my son was born in the hope he would one day get into them, but sadly he has never seemed too interested. Maybe one day!
Tell your son he's NOT allowed to read them. That always worked on me. 😅
@ Ha! This tactic might just work!
The only romances I have read were by Kate Pearce and they were anything but bland. The stories were from a couple of her spicier historical fiction series, Diable Delamere and Sinners Club, and they left nothing, absolutely nothing to the imagination!😊 I did enjoy them for what they were and the stories were interesting.
read the synopsis for those Diable Delamere books and it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm going to grab the first book and give the author another shot. Perhaps I read a dud, cant all be hits!
Ollies is the best!! Always some great deals. I'll try to look for that one next time we go! I'm excited for you to read some dark romance 🖤 haunting adelaide is so......well read and find out....😅 looking forward to the review. 😊
The physical book is objectively beautiful and gives a creepy vibe just holding it. It's not on my tbr for this month but I'm going to try and sneak it in there.
The romances I have read tend to have fairly unbelievable premises, but if you allow yourself to accept that, the rest of the story is enjoyable & typically destined for a happy ending (which is my preference). I don't make a lot of demands as a reader in this sort of book beyond being entertained. I don't anticipate myself reading any "dark romance", but I will certainly listen to your thoughts & see what I am missing. Our town recently got an "Ollies". Is this a store I need to visit? I had never heard of it till here on booktube about a month or so ago... thanks for your review. you take care,
People demanding fiction to be realistic is strange and if their lives are even remotely interesting they can realize how absurd reality can be. Just made my second trip to Ollie's, I like it, hit or miss it seems with the books but they have a lot of discounted snack items and home goods.
i use to love these in school. i have thought about buying some of them for nostalgia sake plus some do have cool covers and concepts. House of Danger is one i borrowed at my school library for sure.
Awesome, me too. I can't pass these up. In fact I found another one today. "Inca Gold" Happy Hunting! 📚
This sounds awesome!! Adding it to my future reading! Going to follow the author’s channel as well!
Thomas is a really down to earth guy and is always sharing his knowledge and wisdom. Tell him who sent ya 😁
@ Will do!!
I really appreciate the tour of this place thanks for the video
No problema. Tha ks for stopping by and dropping a comment. Much appreciated!
Did you ring a bell at the beginning!? As in, it is now time to start!? If so, I pleasantly enjoyed it!
Yes sir. I have a few bells laying around. That one has a great tone for my ears. Glad you noticed and enjoyed.
That abominable snowman cover is really awesome, I love the art. I've always been a fan of the choose your own adventure books growing up.
There is alot of cool artwork on the inside as well. Always on the hunt. Hide and Read 📚 👍
The Mystery of Chimney Rock was my favorite choose your own adventure book as a kid. I would buy a choose your own adventure book and a hardy boys book with my allowance when i was a kid. If you ever find them there is a series of ''Zork'' books based on the old text adventure games that are in the same genre that i think you would enjoy. there are 4 total.
I looked up the Zork books so I can recognize them when I see them. Thanks for the tip. Choose your own adventure and Hardy boys, not bad. Hopefully you had a few cents left for candy cigarettes or a bubblegum cigar. Thanks for watching!
I've never heard of these but then, again, not surprising since I am old!😂
When you see them, now you will know. Hope you enjoyed the video. Hide and Read 📚 🤙
Need more of these for adults. I think they would be fun to do.
@@FacelessBookReviews there is a genre of video games (mostly from japan) called visual novels, not very appealing to me but a similar experience I imagine.
Read those books in middle school. Saw a couple sets of these at a used book store recently.
And you didn't get them!?!?! Scandalous!
Hell, yes!!!!
How fun would it be to try and return from the levels of hell described in HeadHunters? Thanks for watching!
@@HideAndRead that would be awesome!
Choose your own Adventure? Sounds fun. -James
They really are!
Secret Fire Books did a video a few weeks ago on the history of these "Game Books". It's a super interesting video. I recommend checking it out. Also, I too traded in my entire Goosebumps collection when I was in college. If only I could go back in time and not do that. I had some that are super hard to get these days. Alas. You live and you learn.
I wrote my name on the inside of all my goosebumps, one day perhaps I'll be reunited with one of them. I wasn't into anamorphs back then but I collect those as well now. I remember you mentioning that you read them. I used to have a job where I would essentially finish my work in the first 2 hours of every day and then was forced to pretend I was working for 6. I would convert the animorph books (among others) to text files and read them on a computer. I've collected a few now and am looking forward to reading and reviewing those... the stories are pretty intense.
@HideAndRead Oh man that would be magical. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Animorphs. BTW those should be read in order to appreciate them in my opinion.
Sounds like a Western that I would enjoy. Where did you buy it from? I want to buy a copy to enjoy and to make sure Thomas gets his cut. Thank you -James
I included the a link to the Amazon Page for this particular book. He said that's the best way to get them. I think you would enjoy this one.
Just subscribed to his channel!!!!
A good influence for any aspiring writers, he also is just a friendly guy all around.
This sounds great! I'll keep an eye out for this and his other books.
Amazon link in the video description. 🤙
@@HideAndRead Thanks!
I need to ask Santa for some of Thomas’ books!
Couldn't reccomend this one enough.
Thank you for those generous words! Although I'm now retired, it's nice to see someone take a look at the oaters I did. That one was originally published by Robert Hale books, and when the rights reverted to me, I went the Indie route. I am grateful for the review, and I thank you sincerely!!
Not that I was expecting the book to be mediocre, but was it to be so much more exciting than I anticipated. You have your own voice and style and translated it beautifully to the page.
Yay for reading indie pub books!!
