Hey everyone!,
It's been a while, and a wild ride these past few months.
I decided to Re-Draw the Thundercats intro from 1985 due to my personal love for the series as a child and for the love of one of my favorite characters (Tygra). Please note that I did this blind, without any idea what I was getting myself into, oh boy...I should have done some research LOL.
I'll share some facts about this project with you.
-It took about 2 months to complete the drawings for this animation. At the said moment I was drawing for about 12-14 hours a day. Due to emotional stress, I had to stop the creation of it a few weeks after the first 15 seconds were created. The first 15 seconds were a breeze compared to the rest of the frames.
-Took a Snapshot of every frame of the video then analyzed which was the best way to approach this project.
-The Ratio looks weird because it was stretched. the video I downloaded was stretched and I didn't notice until late into the animation (oops) since everything is by frame I can go back and fix it if I want to but at this time I'll probably let it be
-There are a bunch of secrets, enough to make a separate video all about them.
-Paid a little tribute to the 2011 anime
-Used clip art studio for all the drawings, separated everything by sections (9 in total I think) they are about 2GBs in size
-All the effects were drawn too, no video effects added to keep the magic of the original except for When they are looking up at the beginning, I played with the overlay and opacity settings for that
-In one good day about 130 frames would be drawn (some of them really easy, like white backgrounds or random lines), in a bad day (and had a few of those, to be honest ) 19 frames.
-There are a bunch of mistakes, some fixed, some added and some kept to show the fact that I redrew everything xD.
-I cried a little.
-I need a new arm
-1500+ Frames recreated with some surprises included =)
I'm tired...and I hope you enjoy this work as much as I do.
-There's a lot of ways to actually do this in a faster way, I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could do it one by one like they probably did back then.
No Copyright Infringement intended nor this is for commercial gain. Done because my Grandma wanted me to be an artist and I love using colors.

The fact that it starts out with Lion-O wearing his original 80s uniform then ends with him wearing Lion-O from the remake's uniform is amazing.
I wanted to keep it as true to the original as I can with also not being a complete simple recreation and giving homage to the anime remake which we lost too soon

Wouldn't mind seeing Silver Hawks or He-Man and yes, the new ThunderCats was actually pretty good.

Yes it was. My best friend she bought 4 half seasons for $79.99 each + tax. She only remembered watching 2 episodes.

Oh wow!!!!! The original opening from the 80s is amazing, this opening gave me chills and goosebumps. Its a great way to introduce a new generation at the greatness of this cartoon from almost 40 years ago.

I like how you started with Lion-O’s OG attire at the start and then switches over to the 2011 attire almost like it’s his own version of 200X He-Man’s Snake Armor.

Good God, man, this animation style is legitimately _gorgeous._ That thick-lined, brightly colored, slightly sketchy art style is _beautiful,_ and looks like a cross between oldschool Hanna-Barbera and Jack Kirby, with just a hint of Akira Toriyama. I fully agree with the previous commenter who wishes he could fund an entire series that looked like this.

I went back to my childhood in front of the TV (RCA) 15 " and me with top adrenaline watching the intro.
Each frame looks like a painting. Cool take on the intro!

@@thetrueghost I really do think 80s cartoons like these need to be reanimated in HD. Not like this, but retraced. Only the masters exist and no film exists for the cartoons. It would be expensive but it would do well in streaming plus at least it's a financial gamble where the investors know how the episodes turn out beforehand.

And the intro STILL has better animation than the actual show!
That is the point of animation. Any part that will be seen repeatedly is done with more time and care than a n episode you might only see once.

It's such an iconic song and so simple too, cartoon songs of that era are just a different breed. I would never be thankful enough for her to introduce me to color pencils

A while back folks were wetting themselves over a CG remake of the intro. I hated it, because the CG version lacked the facial emotion the original had. Yours captures the facial and movement stuff perfectly.
You might consider running it though a frame interpolator to increase the smoothness a bit. Otherwise, great job.
The cgi-version looked horrible, but this version is just beautiful.
Fantastic work. Thundercats was and always will be in my top 5 cartoons as a kid growing up.
Wow...just wow 👏, took me right back to been a young version of myself. This is how Thundercats should make a come back, same as it was back in the day but with these new amazingly drawn characters. Keeping them the same but bringing them right upto date animation wise. We'll done and your grandma would be proud.

The artists for the original Thundercats were awesome! Much better than anything else out at the time.
Wow. This gave me the chills. Brings back childhood memories. It's cleaner more colorful and defined. Why animation studios don't hire someone like you who understands drawings, colors and schemes. You are able to reflect how things would like if transpose to today's art style. Kudos to you and hope that one day you can be an artist or animator that will give life to animes/cartoons the way it should be. 😎

That theme song is the greatest thing ever… how amazing intense the music, the vocals, musicianship, the layout all mixed within the sound effects… the visuals also kept up with the madness coming through the speakers. Well done on this redrawing. Brought back memories….

Excellent work - my favorite show (next to Voltron) as a kid. Thank you for bringing back the memories and the nostalgia in HD for me. I've already watched it several times and I will come back to it whenever I need a reminder of where I came from. This work has impact on my life as well as others I am sure. Thank you. You come and pay a REAL artist for work, not a tracer. Were ALL OVER facebook. If he traces ANY artwork and sells it, there will be trouble. Dont let me find out. I take this profession very seriously and to have a tracer trying to get recognition is not going to happen.
Great cell quality however it seems a bit "chunky" like its missing frames or something. Awesome job overall!
