The fact you guys called on people to do their own research rather than call to cancel crowder is one of the multiple reasons you’re head and shoulders above the rest, roll on the next million subs 👌🏼
I agree. But the research needs to be done regarding family farming and the sell of product vs commercial. I worked in this industry and the gov used these programs to steal farms. Commercial farms.
What really makes me upset is that black farmers especially in the American south have a long and rich history in the U.S. filled with resilience and overcoming so much. They are also some of the kindest , hardworking , beautiful , and greatest people I have ever had the privilege of meeting especially when it comes too hospitality. They are also people of great faith as well seeing this type of messed up rhetoric against them is very sickening. They are such good people and they deserve respect and humanity.
@@decwow and they also don’t need a ‘comedian’ with millions of followers spreading misinformation that invalidates the historically verifiable discrimination they went through..
They are about the most wholesome people you'll ever meet, they would help you in a second and never ask a think for it, I believe people should take a page from their book on how to act and treat people, shit would be a whole lot nicer.
A friend of mine (a young black male) started a community farm over 10 years ago and teaches other young people how to grow produce. He started with 1 abandoned lot and now has 4 huge gardens and a market.
Cool, but black people farming is still a historical thing, it's not common today. More whites have stuck to farming, especially in the Midwest, but blacks in the south who were historically farmers have moved towards the cities and have become urbanized, or moved north. It's just not a thing anymore.
@@davidlenz9902 clearly it is still “a thing” for some Black people and it would be a thing for more if there wasn’t a history of oppression in this country. My great grandfather moved the family up north because of Jim Crow not because we didn’t value farming.

I'm not sure I don't think this is better cuz more depressing giving its base in reality and the denial of it, but mark my words by tomorrow we're going to have the black people farm thing so is that like having your cake and eating it too? will never find out but it'll be a chocolate cake I guess tomorrow
Aba and Preach could’ve gone in so much harder on Crowder, and they would’ve been right to. Instead they respond with clear cut, strong points and called out the fallacies in what he was saying. That’s why I respect the hell out of them.
@AC The issue is Crowder uses that sort of ammunition to fire back and twist arguments. Yhey didn't provide any ammunition. Just facts, and handled the situation with moderation and diplomacy.
@wildfire9280 Awh, someone's got their panties in a bunch. Calm down there champ. It is possible to hear an opinion you disagree with WITHOUT being a complete dick. Shocking I know. Here I'll cry about it 🤣👍👏
I had no idea it was a stereotype? I always thought the stereotype around Hennessey was lower class alcoholics. I never really made the connection with race. To be honest, coming from Dave who made the joke, it just fit his own pattern of dark humor about how trash Detroit is and his own alcohol use.

Back in Georgia my mom used to buy fresh fruit from local farmers in our community instead of stores like Walmart. Guess what color those farmers were. Crowder would never guess.
It doesn't even make sense, Crowder is saying that there are too many black people who will take advantage of these reparations for black farmers who have been discriminated against, but also that black farmers basically don't exist. Which is it? Black farmers are going to take advantage of this, or black farmers don't exist?
@giulio ranellucci I'll admit that I didn't realize how few black farmers there are (it actually seems to be about 1.4% of farmers, so even lower than you stated) so I'll admit I was wrong about that. He sounds like a dick still, but $5 Billion is insane for how few black farmers there are. It works out to like $110000 per farmer, and that could probably be spent better places.
Sometimes I watch Crowder, especially his Change my Mind videos. But this was just dumb. How is he and his team gonna ask "where's the proof" of the discrimination against colored farmers when they barely even knew that black farmers even existed in a large quantity?
This exactly. Normally he's so well researched for the Change my Mind stuff but then he pulls shit like this and it's not the first time either. It's so hard to watch him in anything else. By all means, it's fine when he calls out legitimate nonsense but then there's... well this.

I was the 1st person on youtube for sure to share the PBS Newshour video with the black farmer, (must see video on the topic). I am anti-BLM for many obvious reason as they are corrupt to the very top, but this black farmers topic is highly needed and definitely real. I shared the video instantly to my old weed boss and told him to get some land. I watch Steven's show a lot for the ''anti-woke'' stuff only, and this Steven Crowder guy is smart and well educated for sure on many topics... but he is ignorant when it comes to cannabis and saying racist things in a veiled way (much like Al Shaprton and Oprah).. for sure I bashed Steven many times on his own video, especially about weed, and got top comment on his channel always pointing out how he is ignorantly always bashing weed...now he stopped doing it.
The craziest part of all of this it’s that it helps other races besides blacks but people don’t talk about that. And the part about a lot black farmers in the south is not true. I met George Reed (one of the greatest running backs in the history of the CFL) a few years ago when I dated my ex. He was a friend of her family, but that's not important. What is important are the stories his wife could tell you. Back when the two of them were in college she brought him home to meet her family. Her and her mother and grandmother were making supper and she told George to go watch the football game in the living room. He walked into the living room and almost instantly came back and sat down in the kitchen. She said, "Why aren't you watching football?" His response was, "There's a white man in there." Of course this took place during segregation so he couldn't be in the same room as a white dude. Her response was laughter and she said, "oh, him? That's just my grandfather." Turns out her grandfather alienated himself from his own family years ago when he married a black woman. Angie Reed, man. That woman has some stories to tell. Hope she's doing well.

Farming is only needing subsides because there are so many rules around keeping your own seeds and using them. They basically made rules that you have to buy your seeds every year which then makes it so you have to spend lots of money every year to continue to farm your own crops. Edit: spelling
Seriously? So what happens if they do use their own crops and seeds? Can they sell it directly for themselves, or is there a law against them doing that?
@@amazonfire103 The rule is not setup to not use your own completely. There is a percentage rule around it. So you have to incorporate a certain percentage of new seeds into the crop. It isn’t 100% but it is still not profitable which makes it so they require subsidies to survive.
If you knew anything about farming, you'd know that farmers would rather get new seeds. Getting back seeds from your crop is extra work and ties up your land for longer, ultimately costing you more. Also, there's no guarantee you get enough useable seed back. New seeds are all inspected and are in perfect shape for planting. Most of which are genetically engineered to yield more crop, be drought resistant, as well as weed and pest resistant without the need of excessive pesticides, which also take extra time and damage your land. As a white guy living in Africa this dude and his friends just pissed me off so much. Farming is a big part of the culture to many Africans, its a day to day part of the majority of people's lives here. Saying things like " O why would they farm due to what happened in the past" is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Farming to people that do it is not a job, its a life style, its part of many peoples cultures. all the best luck to the farmers everywhere, you guys keep most of us alive with what you produce and I have major respect to the life you all live, its not easy and we appreciate what you do!
He’s not talking about people in Africa?? Where being black puts you in the majority. And his joke was referring to slavery. As in they were forced to farm for so many years that it would be surprising if they chose to do it when free. His show is almost entirely sarcastic jokes
As someone from Ireland, I can say that farming subsidies and grants play a huge role in the success of the industry (as it’s the biggest industry in the country) and if it weren’t for the grants (from the gov and the EU), we’d be significantly worse off as a country so this is great to see that everyone in the US is now getting a fair shot at being able to make a living from providing food to feed the country. Also hats off to you guys btw👍
I thought gross farm subsidies was a USA thing. Is odd that farmers in both our countries cannot survive without them. I often wonder what would happen if real market prices were introduced slowly.
@@pixylips it's because of the government that it's an expensive industry. Intellectual property rights favor the farmer's suppliers, property taxes disincentivizes massive land ownership, and subsidies choose what crops get made. There are hundreds of controls that corporations have over farmers because of the government. Tractor owners don't have the right to repair their own equipment without OEM support, farmers are liable for IP protected gmo crops that grow in their land on ACCIDENT. Farming is not a magically more expensive industry in the most advanced era ever. There used to be more on our plates than corn for a reason. You have less purchasing power in the grocery store for a reason.
You're delusional. The government breaks your legs and buys you a shitty crutch with your own money and takes a cut in the process, and you respond with "thank you master, what would I do without you". Pathetic.
@@NietzscheanMan Exactly. Believing that farmers wouldn't earn enough without subsidies is delusional. My uncle is farmer here in Poland and swears EU. Quotas on everything and license on everything. This is as much as Netherland, Belgium and Luxemburg have together. I will not even mention other cuts. Then EU ordered sanctions on Russia for us. EU regulations and quotas only serves richer western farmers. My uncle was able to sell anything before joining EU. Pork, beef, honey, potatoes etc. After he have to specialise and he choose pigs farming. He had to take massive loan to adjust to EU standards not even knowing if he will qualify for autem. To be fair "a simple google search" when it comes to anything politicized will most likely leave you just as misinformed as you were to start with, everyone uses statistics or heartstring tugging stories to push a narrative. Statistics don't lie but they can definitely be misleading. Some stuff he says makes sense to me and some stuff doesn't, just like with watching you, some things I agree and some I don't. Farming has taken a hit during Covid. Australia currently has a stimulus for unemployed people to work on farms because foreign visa workers are obviously not allowed atm. I assume it’s the same with this in the US.
Backpackers usually work the farms but government ain’t giving visas so have asked people who are willing to do the work, they will give an extra $800 for staying longer than 6 weeks but farmers could turn around after 5 weeks and say your not required

Yeah the western governments are having a hard time importing a defacto slave class to reap the mundane so they’re subsidizing farmers with actual American labor. In the long run the government is saving money but they can’t admit that their foreign visa worker program was terrible in all metrics. Enjoy the expensive strawberries, in a few years farms will use robots to harvest instead of manual laborers.

@@amazonfire103 they get fined for utilizing their own seeds. The second question is interesting and I’ve never thought of that one.
