"Why do these axes cost so much?" Well, this is why. I watched one of his videos and had no idea he was as young as he is. This young man's future is bright, very bright. Nice work Jonah, and thanks for bringing us along Gordy.
Conrad, you are a true Craftsman. Excellent work! Very few people take the care to provide such a high quality product. I'm sure Gordy will appreciate that axe forever. Thanks for taking us along!
Gordy, "hairy sasquatch arms", good lord that is funny! I wish I could be the very proud owner of one of his works of art! This young man is a true artist and artists like this should be cherished and good to see him wearing proper P.P.E.! Thank you guys for sharing this with all of us.
Oh man I had never thought about a wedge banger with a thinner poll to get to a wedge thats buried deep! This young man does great work. There's a reason why axes made like they used to be are expensive. I only make handles and lumber for them and I have a great appreciation for the entire process.
Ok. That's a sexy axe. I really wish I had taken my tree work life longer. I would have been able to hang with these guys. Great video brother. Gordy. I really love watching you. Get tube salad on board with logging and felling. He's an animal climbing. But had the ability to be a great all-around tree man
Thank you guys for this awesome videos, here in Colombia (south America) is really hard to find an axe like that, even more hard is to find a guy with such talent. Keep doing this kind of content!!!
Gordy, may YOU have many good years of use and wedge banging from your BRAND NEW AXE that was custom made, and just like the “shake n bake” commercial, you helped. 😊
You know of course brother Jonah if Gordy wants to watch that doubles the price. If he wants to help that is triple!! You build a beautiful axe young man!
Great work Jonah! Awesome video, love seeing this kind of stuff still happening these days where everything is mass produced garbage, real craftsmen still exist out there. Beautiful piece
You just made my day with this video :) What an absolute beauty of an wedge banger axe! That is an heirloom treasure :) Thanks for taking the effort to film.
That was a great video, I really enjoyed it. Sweet looking axe. Gordy and Jonah should roll into the JK Boots podcast, I would love to hear more stories.
He has nice suspenders!! Cool looking axe!! Love the blacksmithing! That is an heirloom to pass down!...for sure!! I have no need for an axe.....but I want one!!! He hits more wedges on the first swing than you and Jacob combined!! 😝 Have a great week guys!!
Sweet! Thanks for making this Gordy. Good stuff Jonah! I just forged a knife (more like a shank) from rebar using a hair dryer and a hole in the ground... I am hooked.
Thanks Gordy! Recently watched Jeff Schroeder’s axe collection videos, please do one or a couple as well! Been trying to haft some axe, splitter and hammer handles and curious about the types of wood to use for the wedges, soft or hard wood for the different uses but in Australia so the varieties are different but any advice to listen & learn from would be great. Thank you again 🤙
I’ve seen a bunch of axes being made the last decade or so, but that’s pretty much the first one that is useful! You can split wood with just about anything but the last good new rafter I’ve seen for sale was the three 5lb GB STROAX’s I bought about 45 years ago. Two are lost in the Sierras somewhere but luckily I still have one left! Awesome! 👍🏼👍🏼
Man Gordy, this video was awesome!! You produce excellent content on your channel and for that reason your channel has become one of my all-time favorites! Keep up the great work and God bless! Cant wait for your next video!
Axe content and shop stuff is interesting content to me. How to do stuff and how stuff is made information. If you just want to watch screaming chainsaws and falling trees there are plenty of channels for that. Learning something in an enjoyable video is what I like. Since you put my initials on that axe I'll send you my shipping address. And a pre-paid shipping label for going to all that trouble you went to for me - LOL.
S7 tool steel. Really great hardening and sharpening ability steel. That's top notch. As long as the heat treat is good with no cracks or deformation that's a head that will last for years. Not like a 1095 that's almost indestructible when treated. Becomes brittle in large billets
Amazing video that Man is amazing at what he does. God bless stay safe guys. I would love to have a handmade one one day like that. I guess they all are handmade but you know what I mean God bless.
G'day Gordy, that looks like a nice wedge banger you've got there. I'm glad to see Jonah wearing his ear protection an old mate of mine has hammered out over nine thousand axes and he has trouble hearing me on the phone these days 👍.
just amazing your skills at creating an ax are outstanding! as great and perfect as the last one! I would like to own one, but I do not do much tree work! so it would not be properly used as intended! great job, keep up the great skills to create art and axes all on one handle!
Hey Gordy on a raker gauge if using full house you put it up to the back of the tooth in front of the raker ur checking?? Or is that wrong? And what about skip tooth chain? No one ever shows skip jw if that’s rite/wrong? Or do you just set the raker in the slit, n it doesn’t matter where the raker gauge lands ??And will the bark box bolt on a 372xp?
No way that's ever getting banged into a wedge. That's a mirror finish on that side. Maybe some chopping to calm the mob, but for a work axe, it's too damn nice to pound wedges.

That Gentleman is a Master at his craft.
Not a master, but nearbuy … he is on the way to
dam, his forging skills and knowledge are amazing because the final result, aka the axe, is just diamondmite
