Simple and to the point Gordy. Widening ports is generally safer than any vertical timing changes. The only thing I would add to watch for folks, is the location of your piston ring ends (where they meet) -typically they are located where there is full cylinder wall from top to bottom. There is one locator pin for each ring. Find them, scribe the location onto the wall, and don’t grind into their path. Good luck folks, and happy grinding 👌

Best filter on the market. Have used it on both my 500i and 661. Went through more than 5 tanks each no fines past the filter what so ever. It still doesn’t need to be oiled yet or cleaned

I learned how to run one of these old suckers when I was 14 years old. I was a farm kid and knew how to drive tractors and whatever else my dad needed me to run. We had a pocket of gravel on our land, and the county was mining it for on our roads. They were short on help, so Emil, one of the old guys that worked for the county taught me how run it. The pit was right beside the road, so I would get off the school bus there every day and old Emil would get if fired up for me and I would push gravel. I wasn't a very big kid, so that was a long stretch to those levers! I about had to get out of that big old seat and walk to them! Lol! That was fun, and it was a great experience for a young kid. Old Emil kept track of my hours and I even got paid. They paid me $4.00 an hour! I don't know if that was a lot or not. That was in 1973. I don't know what the child labor laws were back then, but they couldn't give me a check for wages. They included it when they paid my dad for the gravel, then he gave me my money. Looking back, that was a pretty big machine for a 14 year old kid to be running! But I thought I was big shit! None of my friends were running a big old Cat dozer and getting paid for it! Awwww, the good old days.
