When I heard her say "Who am I to cost the Russian people seven cows?", I pretty much knew the stinger Ernesto was going to have at the end of the video. Let's see if I'm right. Wrote the above after I heard the line. Waited until the end to post. Yep. It was too perfect a line for Ernesto to pass up.
Love me some Garbo! Shame she stopped when she did. I saw a documentary about her and apparently Garbo watching was a pass time in 60’s New York. She also trolled paparazzi 🤣
What you said at the end about the sexual harassment humor is accurate. It's not innately bad to have it as it IS meant to be humor, a joke about how people behave. It's not meant to be like, oh go out and be this way. There IS however a difference in feel between like: oh he chased me around the desk and tried to touch my butt and we laughed and laughed, and he chased me around the desk and you should have seen the bruises! That isn't just harassment, that's assault and it's not that it makes the joke automatically bad, because it IS still commentary on this type of behavior, but it does leave you with more of a feeling of oh jeez...what did he do? Rather than oh haha he's being an old timey gropey guy lol. So there's definitely a line that goes from silly joke that comments on certain behavior, to omg what did he do?! Another example of this difference is like, the difference between an 80s movie where some guys peep into the girls locker room, vs revenge of the nerds where one of them literally rapes a cheerleader because he pretends to be her boyfriend in a dark room, and in that instance it's not portrayed as oh this is a comment on certain social behaviors of this time, this is: oh I get to do this and it's okay cause I'm a bullied nerd and she's a snobby cheerleader. It's the same reason that I don't like movies like the menu or really anything that inflicts torture or punishments on people and its okay because they're an asshole. It's like...well.....that jsut kind of sounds like you're making an excuse for yourself to act like they did. It's like, okay I get it these people aren't good people, but you don't get to decide what happens to them. Thats not how justice is supposed to work. That's why super heros like batman and super man bring criminals to the cops and put them on trial instead of just killing them. It's not justified to do something heinous to someone jsut because they did something heinous themselves. If people behaved like that all the time society wouldn't progress at all. Wow, this mini rant went off in a weird direction. Sorry about that. But yeah. Thats my take on that kind of humor hahah
Gd Orson Welles would probably be SO PISSED that he's most remembered for drunken outtakes from a wine commercial that he probably forgot about the next morning.
Michelangelo? Surely you meant Da Vinci... or am i missing a joke here? Isnt there a Monty Python sketch about why Michelangelo didnt paint the last supper?
One of main two fear tactics made to alarm our individualistic western built perceptions that we were told about communism in school and this movie that under communism you have to share your paycheck with everyone 😱 which is an ignorant understanding of communism but let’s take a look at capitalism. Under capitalism we are forced to give a very large amount of our labor to our boss and their boss, and their boss, and their boss’s (capitalist) boss who is part of the ruling class that owns the means of production and exploits our labor…. Americans are so afraid of what their oppressors have said and continue to say about communism that they don’t even realize the chains they’re currently wearing.

I know I get all the benefit of hindsight , but SURELY Luke Wilson (or Owen with a dye job, I suppose) would be Anderson's Batman. Just sayin'.🤷♂😉Not to get personal about it, but Jason Schwartzman isn't charming enough to be even an ironic, Wes Anderson-y version of Batman.
I loved that shoemaker joke, Matt. It really caught me off guard! Regarding a Wes Anderson superhero film - I hope you've seen Patrick Willems' "What if Wes Anderson Directed X-Men?" ruclips.net/video/UngE0qn3VRY/видео.html

It was almost "suppress it"
Thank you for Not spoiling The French Dispatch. I'm looking forward to watching it in the future & I need to be completely innocent to watch it.
We'll be talking about it in two weeks.
So glad you didn't mention the roller disco/ranch dressing scene.
@@blamesocietyfilms Thank you for the heads up, I'm gonna be skipping that wpisode.
A textbook tsundere. Japan would love this movie.
My second mention on the show! Thank you so much! I love what you do.

8:41 😂🤣😂🤣 Super deep cut reference, Matt. Bravo!
Edit: 11:22 It’s fermented in the bottle! 😄
Sting would be proud, but would suppress it.
And it’s vintage dated!
I love the shot at 6:45, close and focused on the two at the desk but the reflections of the men on the other side are visible in the mirror.
In answer to your first question eight in Russian is - Vosyem /Восемь
Ninotchka is my favorite Greta Garbo film. She's so delightful and romantic.
Lea Seydoux as Catwoman for Wes Anderson would be a dream!
I love the Orson Wells commercial reference hahaha. You guys are great.
LOL at Radiotubbies
Your riffing in this episode was really on point.
Whenever you guys make bold comebacks during the viewing of the movies my little improv heart is so happy. lol KERSHEV!
14:29 "...a creature of the night who sucks the blood of the living, but here he's just a government official."
I don't see the difference.
Great episode guys! One of your best.
21:12 Craig admonishing himself for his substandard pun is hilarious!
Nice deep cut Police reference. When I heard it souvery familiar but had to look it up. Had not listed to Mother easily in over 25 years.
The telephone reference is something I say every time the phone rings too. I can even hear it in the right accent :P
I haven’t seen this one in a long time! Great choice!
Welcome to the basement, they got fun and games
Sutely Willem Dafoe would be Joker and Adrian Brodie Penguin?!

Best band name of the episode: Languid Cellists
I didn't realize how badly I needed Bill Murray as the Riddler until the opening of this episode
edit: OMG KREZHNEV IS BACK, HOROSHO!!!!
I thought Bill Murray would be a good Alfred.
@@blamesocietyfilms Ooooh that's much better....Owen Wilson can be Riddler
Craig got some real Vince McMahon hair this episode
Willem Dafoe should be The Joker, Adrian Brodie as The Riddler, Jason Schwartzman as The Penguin, Luke Wilson as Batman, Bill Murry as Alfred.
Luke Wilson is the best choice for Batman. Jason Schwartzman is the best choice for "Wes Anderson's Batman".
@@blamesocietyfilms Good point. I still say Willem Dafoe as Joker and Bill Murry as Alfred.

How you don’t automatically cast DeFoe as the Joker means you turn in your critic cards.

...Yes. I was making...that joke.

Lubitsch is God! Great content peeps.
21:35 , I believe the bruises are coming from bumping into the corners of the desk
No one else is going to find a double meaning for "porn stash" as you guys do, and during a Garbo/Lubitsch film to boot.
