This one is blue. The lighting makes it seem darker. Coleco had a lot of handheld games too, though. So I wouldn't doubt it if they had a similar hockey game.
My buddy and I wore this game out! We were so good and played it hundreds of times. I bought mine in 1978 and still have it today and it still works perfectly. Just insert a new 9V battery and I'm good to go!
The version you have is the more common US version of hockey. I own the much rarer Canada (Eis) version (which does not allow you to go behind the goal) and on this game my best "Pro 1" score is 76 (42/38) and on "Pro 2" it is 12 (8/4).
If you run into the other teams player twice you get a penalty. The first time you run into an opposition player it beeps once, the second time it beeps twice and there is a pause then you are short handed and it shows your player in the penalty box...
I got Coleco's Head to Head Hockey in 1981 and it still works today. But I like that Mattel game too.
AH! I remember playing this when I was younger! i forgot all about this game thanks for posting!

Coleco had Head to Head Hockey. Game play was not similar at all.
My sister and I spent hours playing that game and my mom even played it
played this shit out of this game in 1985 and 1986.

I have both editions … and played the heck out of the Canadian version back in ‘78.
Some time ago I got 14(8/6) in P2 mode. P2 mode on Eis (Canada) Hockey is very hard.
Awesome!
How do you get a penalty? It's just red dots and seems no different then Mattel Electronic Basketball.

I wish you could talk.
