Spot on Thomas. Your wisdom and experience is greatly appreciated and respected. I too am a long time traveller of Faerun (from 1st edition AD&D) and I agree with your comments on this new "sanitised" version, so your descriptions really enhance the depth of the realms greatly. Looking forward to more. Well met!
Well met, Jeremy. Thanks so much for your kind words. I joined the Realms with the FRCS in 3.0 and have loved it since. I find that that what has been done with the Realms since then (and before, to a degree) has really harmed the worldbuilding and stops it making a lot of sense.
This is fantastic! This is precisely what I needed to digest from the Starter Set! I plan to solo Lost Mine Of Phandelver to try to better grasp the rules.
I started with 1st edition in the 80's, then got away as I made a family life. But now since Covid, back. Thomas, your Lore series is so great! I'm studying up to DM and love these details. I vote for you to go deeper so the town and it's areas in your videos become THE go-to source.
Perfect! Thank you for taking the time to create this! It's everything I needed to know...just so I can forget every bit of it as soon as I sit down at the table >.
Thanks so much for this video! I'm building a small campaign set in the sword coast area, and intend to remix some locations and adventures of the area (Mine of Phandelver, Dragon of Icespire) into my own adventure set later after these stories. (roughly 1517 DR) I'm thankful to see a overview of the area's lore and character to use for my own campaign. My party is starting the campaign soon and we'll be exploring a lost dwarven temple in the cliffs beneath Icespire Hold.
This is great Lore! I enjoyed hearing about the people they encounter on the journey and love the option of cameos for adventurers you may know through playing or subscribers as you grow ☺ Personally, I like the sound of hearing about all of the places they encounter, rather than just the top spots, but whatever you make will be gratefully recieved!
Most 5th Edition Modules start along the Sword Coast, so I would keep working your way through. Maybe do an overview video of the major cities, Waterdeep, Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate, etc, then revisit each and get more granular tackling an aspect of each town. History, night life, politics, religions, notable NPC's that live in each, factions. Maybe every few episodes sprinkle in some of the surrounding areas, Daggerford, the Dessarin Valley, The High Forest, Sword Mountains, Undermountain, then branch out to Chult, the Underdark, Ravnica, other planes of existence, etc etc. I'm loving the flavor of your narration and how there is a story of this chronicler traveling the world on commission. You've got my support. Well done. Like and Subscribe all! LOL
This is really helpful, thanks so much for posting it! My third session running Lost Mine is on Monday and they are running around Phandalin now so this is very useful. :)
Really looking forward to this! Definitely keeping notifications on. I recommend using slightly more visually appealing text transitions though. The basic black font on a pure white background is a bit jarring
I enjoyed the travels! Can you do a tour of the various inns in Baldur's Gate? And perhaps a review of their food & accomodation would be absolutely wonderful. I heard the stew at Elfsong Tavern is to die for -I would like to hear more about it. The Low Lantern likewise seems like an interesting spot to drop by
I would imagine most travel and cargo would travel by ship between Lusakan, Neverwinter and Waterdeep. The road would only be for intervening points not reachable by sea. Traveling all the way from say, Neverwinter to Waterdeep by road would be unusual.
Absolutely, except for travelling traders and caravans I think overland would be rare for anyone of means. I'm considering taking Falrien on a roundabout way back to Neverwinter then up to Luskan and Ten Towns before taking ship to Leilon. It's tricky trying to cover all these spots without excessive repetition and maintaining the theme.
@@TheLoreLounge I think you missed my point. It is much faster and cheaper to move cargo and passengers by water on a boat than by land. A caravaneer who tried to do a, say, Neverwinter to Waterdeep run would be run out of business by competing cargo ships. That doesn't mean the roads would be vacant. There aren't good ports every inch of the coast. Goods would have to move from the ports to inland and intermediate locations. The only people who would travel the whole way on land would be wealthy dilettents ie tourists. Like your character.
@@lorefox201 TY for your reminder. Luskan is consistently in decline. The difference in cost between shipping and land transport is in the not even close zone. The land transport routes are hardly safe either. I'm sure Waterdeep would fight relentlessly to keep her sea lanes open as is referred to in the source material where Waterdeep has been successful in doing so.
@@hemaccabe4292 you're not wrong I don't remember exactly what the books say about which trading route is most used, I would certainly move stuff by sea in these circumstances if I was relatively sure my stuff wasn't going to be stolen by luskanites or sauhagin.
I would love to see the whole series. I am currently running the lost mines and this opened my eyes
Thanks very much. I am trying to get back to it. Life is busy!
Beautifully narrated, calm and comprehensive.
Great area for new players.
Looking forward to the primer on the Manor House.
Wonderful video, thank you for keeping these up and not privating them!

Nice easy listening recap of old remeber places, nicely done :)
This was great, very chill AND informative!

This was beautiful written and done. I look forward to watching your channel grow!!
Thank you very much Peter, I really appreciate it.
Episode 6 is uploading right now.
This is very thorough and the way it's presented makes all the difference. Wonderful job!!
Very good watch looking forward to the next installment

Absolutely the plan as it stands.
Definitely planning the Underdark series. Thanks for the feedback!
I´d love to hear about all of them!
Fabulous knowledge. Picked up on a few things!
I have been looking for something like this nice work appreciated
You're very welcome. episode 4 should be up tomorrow or Tuesday
Wow this is a really great source of lore.
Thank you Chuck! Next episode is in the edit - just very busy
Love your video. Well written. Lovely narration. Great pictures. Keep up the good work. Go where you like, I shall follow.

loverd it keep em coming
Thank you for your information video
Just FYI, the miles on those hex tiled maps that come with the adventure books is wrong. They scaled down the areas for the adventures.
Very good!

you're not considering pirates, and luskan is, ostensibly, a pirate city.

Glad you like it!
Holy ba moly yes!

Amazing, all the very best for your games. Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like.
Any chance you'll be looking at Veldorn at some point?
The Beastlands? Definitely, but they're about 6000 miles away, so it might take a long time. Stay tuned!
Very cool video, but the white screens between cuts are extremely annoying
Yeah, I think so too now, watching on reflection. The process has improved somewhat since, I think.
@@TheLoreLounge Thanks for the reply, still really enjoying the videos of course :)
Allof them pleas
Nevrwinter doesn’t get.
