Played golf for 40 years, the best course or life mgmt is enjoy the Game good or bad. Be grateful you are playing, which means you have food, a home, some friends, some money, and you are healthy enough to play. Enjoy!
Can't agree more with that range finder comment. Don't see many people talk about it these days. I'm a old d1 golfer that played for Clemson University. People that play with me can't believe I don't have or use any kind of laser finder or yardage device. Lol I've been playing golf so long I have always known what clubs to use and how far they go. I feel like I see a lot of amateur golfers use them very incorrectly and it slows them down and throws their game off because they are always trying to play through the range finder instead of playing with their clubs and knowledge of their capabilities w the club. Also I notice a lot of people not understanding that golf is a big mental game. Hit the ball and stop psyching yourself out. Only person that gets a pass for slow play is Patrick cantlay 😂. If I'm playing for millions I'm taking my time too. We not playing for millions. Don't try and make the golf course a race track. practice with your clubs get unconventional and use that 7,8,9 iron for bump & runs to get next to the hole...... Stop grabbing that lob pretending to be Phil Mickelson. You are not. Grab the putter and get next to the hole. Save strokes and stop trying to be a hero unless you hit the driver 300+ or can 5iron in between trees like a boss. The biggest and most important tip I can give is LEARN THOSE RECOVERY SHOTS!!!!! Find a club you get along with great 3 hybrid,3wood,5 iron whatever it may be and learn to become a magician with it or take your medicine so you can save yourself 10+ strokes😂😂😂😂.
First and foremost, know your distances. Second, have a better than average 120 and in game. Third, have a repeatable putting stroke, and know how to read a green, slope/grain/uphill/downhill. Last, but not least, have a pre shot routine for every shot and stick to it on every shot. Not a routine that goes through the motions either, one that is a rehearsal for what you are about to execute. The kicker is if you don't have the time or inclination to practice these basic steps, don't sweat the results.
Please. Put a caveat on the pre shot route be for high handicappers. Takes a minute or more slows the pace and just adds time to an already long round.
Awesome I appreciate it! Definitely easier said than done… I like to have some of post shot routine. For example when I unvelcro my glove or take it off to putt I make that the bookend of the shot. And I like to think that I got my bad stuff out of the way so now the good scores/holes are gonna happen soon
This one thing has brought me from mid-high 90s to low-mid 80s almost over night. I do what I need to do to go for bogey and not worry about what partners are doing!

Part of my course management is to hit 3 wood off the tee in many cases. I'm very confident with this club and can often reach the fat part of the fairway more consistently with this club. If it's a really long par 4 or there's a lot of room in the fairway then I hit driver.
If you're in the trees, don't try to be a hero. Just punch it out on the fairway with your 4 or 5 iron. Only use the sandwedge for the sand or hitting over something. You will have much better control with a lower lofted club, like a gap, pinching, 9 or 8. Hit it lower let it roll Without worrying about chunking it.
@@jmm1817 great tip there, I talk about "hero golf" in a lot of my content. Great stuff, appreciate you watching. What's your biggest golf goal for 2023?
@@wickedsmartgolf I am from Germany. I just had the misfortune to get into football when Carson Palmer had his MVP candiate season in 2015 and now I am stuck with this dumpsterfire of a franchise... 🤣
@@wickedsmartgolf In Australia we play all our competition rounds as stableford scoring system. Therefore a single figure golfer 9 can make a DBogey on holes index 1 to and still score 1 point.( 4 would give 3 points 5 gives 2 and DB 1 point) The big loss of score comes from wiping or picking up on a hole and receiving zero points.

All great tips, but #7 was best. Of course, accept the shot 'says easy, but does hard'. More suggestions on forgetting bad shots/holes?

When you out of reach from the green break it into 2 shots with the latter being what you would prefer hitting into the green.
Depends - it's usually best to get as close to the green as possible to give yourself the best opportunity to make birdie (assuming it's a par 5)

Tip 8 stop trying to make birdies or pars.
Play personal par and bogeys are good scores.
Yeah that's solid - golf is more about avoiding bogeys than making more birdies. Thanks for watching
