IOn said that "time is different in Shadowlands". PRetty much allows them to bring her back any time and still have it be that she spent many years in Shadowlands. Also, they certainly do not want to stop using the most popular character in the franchise for a long time as well.
Mostly Horde player and I was playing my Alliance Warlock when I was given this quest and it got me right in the feels. Shadowlands is my first expansion and despite all it's criticisms - I've loved it. This felt like a good ending.
Microsoft's tip is up Blizzard's ass already. That's what you're seeing here. Those snippets of good writing are when it wriggles around a little. Soon, it'll go all the way in.
Really love this arc for Anduin and the symmetry between him and Sylvanas. Actually left me feeling excited for these characters and what their futures hold.
Surprisingly this is a golden moment in Shadowlands. The ending interaction and the "the work begins" part is actually deep and meaninful. SOmething the expansion has lacked. (that and the the whole part about ysera's resurrection).
WoW cinematics were always of the highest standard, and cutscenes also became decent awhile with more voice acting and in-game animations. In BfA and Shadowlands, some cinematics became just dialogues more and more, with less action and interesting stuff in them. However, these were for the most part, exceptions. But in Dragonflight, I literally can't watch one without cringing, I would never rewatch a cinematic from the current expansion :D
Looking back and trying to not be jaded, I think all the interactions between Anduin and Sylvannas in Shadowlands were good character stories. It just sucks they screwed up the jailer so bad. Honestly they could have made him a much better villain with just a few tweaks but instead we get an example of how not to write a villain

Probably longer than that....an incalculable number of souls ended up in the Maw before we managed to restore the Arbiter like literally anyone anywhere that died before that all got sent to the Maw she could very well be there for many years
I fully 100% believe now that "little lion" is like how she has nicknames for all her siblings. They draw parallels from anduin and lirath in the book. At first it sounds like she’s mocking him but I don’t think that’s the case anymore, especially here.

This is great. Imagine the afterlife, souls that hate each other have to make up for what they did to each other, one way or the other. And I knew Sylvanas was going to do a Queen of Blades Redemption arc, like many others, before the expansion came out. Saw comments everywhere stating it. While she's not a goddess, she's still undoing all the hurt and bad things, just like Starcrafts QoB.
*This is the last we've seen of Anduin until The War Within trailer.* That's the tricky thing about the Light, isn't it? It's a "faith" thing. If you believe in what you're doing, it'll happen. Anduin did it, but the Scarlet Crusade also did it. The opposite would also be true. If Anduin doesn't believe in himself, *the light goes out.*
Once any character loses their faith in their class, they can just pick up stick or some edged stone to become warrior -> catch phrase "AZEROTH is FREE"
@@Anvarynn I noticed the more recent in game cinematics have seen a massive jump in quality. Seems like something they've introduced this expansion. It's a very welcome change, it certainly beats the older style of "character does generic /say or /yell animation loop while dialogue plays" that was everywhere in WoD.
@@arstulex It is something they introduced this expansion. They created a whole new in house tool to create in-game cutscenes that don't use prefab animations. Think the first use of it was the "Arbiter Pelagos Passes Judgement on Sylvanas" cutscene. Finally a dramatic increase to cinematic quality in game. Considering they've decided to make WoW more story-first, I'm glad they're finally catching up the tech to make said story more immersive and rich. Just unfortunate they're using a soon-twenty-year-old engine. Makes the spaghetti pile up high

@@LeystTV I think behind the scenes they'll run into each other again, kind of like an Alleria and Turalyon kind of thing. I truly feel theres a love story here with these two, its gonna be super weird because Sylvanas is old enough to be his great grandmother, but who knows maybe Anduin is in to 1000 year old half dead elves
still have a hope for Anduin x Sylvanas romance, she is Queen he deserves and as bonus she has experience in art of war, so not some trophy wife that just sits at home.
They should've stayed together, he helping her help back more souls and in the process both feel atoned as he supposedly agreed that work to do be done but instead he tried to choke the emotions down with drinking and going around doing meaningless stuff until he was called in TWW. The exhilaration feeling probably wasn't his own (likely the Arthas' piece of soul placed by the Jailer in the new sword caused the feeling, or even just the Jailer), as Anduin was never the person who acted or felt like punishment and/or retaliation should be a thing done without fair judgement first(he clearly demonstrates this an absurd amount of time over his life), so it made no sense for him feel the way he felt other than just being a human with overwhelming capacity for empathy which, alongside with his very strong willpower was why he was granted the powers of the Light, and to top that off regarding this he somehow forgot, that he was the only known individual, a mortal, with willpower strong enough to break domination magic when he had to pick a side in an ultimatum of a situation (Anduin raid boss fight/cutscene). And his father was kind like that too but more aggressive. This, cutscene, was not what it should be...
- "It is perilous to confuse what you are made to do with what you choose to do" I'd like to think that Sylvanas talks about both her and Anduin situations. As much as developers tried to sell that she was "made" to do horrible things, she herself consider it her own choice, her sins for which she must atone, all while convincing Anduin that he, as opposed to her, were actually forced into this. It gives a cool perspective: Anduin believes that he is just like Sylvanas - succumbed to temptation of great power and choose to do evil because he isn't as good person as he believe, while Sylvanas sees in Anduin something she herself would like to be - an innocent victim of powers beyond your control.
The shipper in me wants them to end up together or at the very least have some form of relationship maybe turn Sylvie into Anduin's emotional support mommy that everyone hates even though she does try to help out Anduin or something?
This hits right in the feels, but it's better than what a lot of people seemed to have been predicting. Yes, he goes to Sylvanus....but you know what? He needed her perspective and a bit of her sass to help him see the truth. None of what happened was his fault, and hopefully now he can dissect what was and wasn't his feelings but...poor thing, to think that satisfaction was something he couldn't tell if it was his or the Jailer's? That breaks my heart. Either way, I'm glad he's taking the time to himself that he needs. I don't think I could face the people that saved me so soon after those circumstances either.
what happens if anduin becomes corrupted by old gods and void powers whispers of the void and old gods thus he becomes like arthas and wrathion's father deathwing.
The reason Anduin is so shaken is because he knows there was nothing that stopped him from becoming the exact same as Sylvanas and Arthas. Imagine regarding someone as an ununderstandable evil and then suddenly you are on their feet walking the exact same path as them and there is nothing you can do to stop and just by external help you are able to break free.
it is unknown if arthas' soul and also his good paladin prince side soul fragment half is still out there somewhere in the maw since last remnant and flicker of arthas' soul was part of his soul and also his evil death knight and lich king side soul fragment half it is unknown if arthas' soul will be judged and redeemed by the new arbiter after zovaal's defeat since arthas was victim of domination magic and since arthas' soul was split when he carried and touched frostmourne.

Please do not start this crap, at least because he's not even 20 and she's thousands of years old. Plus undead. She can advise him, but that's the extent of it. And even then, the possible length of a lifespan affects a person's mentality greately. Perspective of someone who is capable of living thousands of years might not be useful for someone who is unlikely to hit a hundred. It looks more like he reminds her of Lirath, her younger brother, and even her nicknames for both are similar.
@@ВладиславШаклеин-ч7м Actually, you completely correct this was shown a bit in warcraft 2 and 3 up to where she died and she failed to defeat Arthas and in that defeat Arthas did not just torture but sacrificed 9/10 Blood Elves to raise Kel'Thuzad furthermore corrupting the sun well.. In that defense her brother was struck down as well.. Hence, why when she came back she came back as basically Vengeance incarnate. So I can completely see why she has this sort of big sister vibe over Anduin.. I do wonder cause it was not shown if her brother was raised up as an undead as well and lost control of himself to Arthas's will and in this she seen the same happen to Anduin and felt for him cause of something she went thru with her lil bro..
@@vandakaii2893 You confuse characters, though. Lirath died in Second War, when Quel'Talas was warring against the Horde, not during Scourge invasion. She was, however, *very* fond of him, that much is true, and one of the Jailer's trump cards was that the Arbiter separates families in afterlife (hey, Draka), so she's unlikely to meet Lirath again... unless she helps Zovaal to break the machine of Death.
I think Lother is in the either Light, Order, or even the Life/Nature version of the Afterlife. According to Blizzard each of the six factions have their own Afterlives with their own Zereths, like how Death has the Shadowlands and Zereth Mortis.
@@ltg8382 You can't please everyone¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Thankfully there are also millions of WoW fans who ARE happy because of this cinematic. Personally, these are two of my favorite characters in the lore. TBH, would've taken another Lich King (Anduin) with another scourge like invasion, without ending anduin as a consequence. Would've been more interesting imo.
I'd say it's more moving on from the mess that is shadowlands and the whole zovaal arc. The three new cutscenes feel satisfying because they have absolutely nothing to do with the jailer or the main plot of shadowlands and instead are moving on from that and focusing on the characters we already know (bar the winter queen).
As an old head of WoW this interaction gives me thoughts that Slyvannas will come back at some point..The warcraft universe does move in years between expansions so we will probably see her soon.

Patty Mattson is the best choice for Sylvanas all time. ^^
She really is 😄

And that dialogue was beautiful,Zooval's mind control scarred Anduin WAY more than I thought, and, can't lie,I love that she still calls him "Little Lion"
It was a really cool cutscene
She called him that during the book Before the Storm, and he didn't like it because it sounded so patronizing. But here it almost sounds endearing.
IOn said that "time is different in Shadowlands". PRetty much allows them to bring her back any time and still have it be that she spent many years in Shadowlands. Also, they certainly do not want to stop using the most popular character in the franchise for a long time as well.
@@Nightdude23 That was the name she gave her baby brother, 100% meant to be endearing here.

Mostly Horde player and I was playing my Alliance Warlock when I was given this quest and it got me right in the feels. Shadowlands is my first expansion and despite all it's criticisms - I've loved it. This felt like a good ending.
Your first expansion is always great in your eyes. People gave bfa so much crap but in an eyes of a newcomer, it was absolutely great.
my first exapansion was BFA and I loved it but i hated shadowlands, to each their own
Oh boy , you all fresh bloods. I envy you 😊
What is this? Character development, coherent dialogue and... Dare I say it... decent storytelling?
Have I gone back in time?
What year is it?
Microsoft.
A modern WoW cutscene that actually made me *feel* something. With decent writing no less. I never thought I'd see it again.
Honestly they could have made him a much better villain with just a few tweaks but instead we get an example of how not to write a villain
this cinematic hits deep after reading the latest book 'Sylvanas'. Sylvanas always referred her brother as 'little lord sun'

I feel what Anduin feels is what Arthas felt when he was slowly being controlled and corrupted by Frostmourne
When he felt what Arthas felt and you felt it... I felt that.
Well, he was possessed by Arthas, or what was left of Arthas.
I never seen Arthas feel any remourse on what he was doing so no idear what u talk off
@@ricardobrands9736 Arthas was impulsive but he was not entirely evil, he had a end justified the means mindset but the moment he held frostmourne that all changed. @@ricardobrands9736 It's not very obvious, but it's there. I fully 100% believe now that "little lion" is like how she has nicknames for all her siblings. They draw parallels from anduin and lirath in the book. At first it sounds like she’s mocking him but I don’t think that’s the case anymore, especially here.
She actually cares for Anduin. She was the first one running to him at the end of the last raid, just before he frees himself of the Jailer's grasp.

And I knew Sylvanas was going to do a Queen of Blades Redemption arc, like many others, before the expansion came out. Saw comments everywhere stating it. While she's not a goddess, she's still undoing all the hurt and bad things, just like Starcrafts QoB.
that "little lion" from sylvannas felt so deep :(((
*This is the last we've seen of Anduin until The War Within trailer.*
That's the tricky thing about the Light, isn't it? It's a "faith" thing. If you believe in what you're doing, it'll happen. Anduin did it, but the Scarlet Crusade also did it. The opposite would also be true. If Anduin doesn't believe in himself, *the light goes out.*

@@arstulex It is something they introduced this expansion. They created a whole new in house tool to create in-game cutscenes that don't use prefab animations. Think the first use of it was the "Arbiter Pelagos Passes Judgement on Sylvanas" cutscene.

Classic andy here, started Shadowlands in season 4. When I played through the final story with Sylvanas and the new arbiter I really felt the heart they put into hestory. It may have been a weird decision the path they set for Sykvanas starting BFA, but apart from that, lots of great secondary stories and enjoyable arcs. Will play Wrath once again, but hat down for a lot of the retail content. The Sylvanas Anduin interactions throught Shadowlands were some of the best wow character interactions in game.
for sure sylvanas has some feeling for Anduin if sylvanas could ever get her old form back for sure they will be together
Anduin: "No choice".
Sylvanas: *TRIGGERED*
I found that really funny, to be honest, for those were the exact words Anduin used against her.
This is REALLY good! I actually liked it a lot. Makes you think a bit about Arthas too! Perhaps at some point he gave in to the excitement and thirst for power?
Much to ponder!
Anduin has grown so much! He is too harsh on himself. Maybe if he could find Varian and confide in his spirit, it might help heal Anduin.
Varians soul was destroyed, he doesn't even exist in the afterlife.

- "It is perilous to confuse what you are made to do with what you choose to do"
I'd like to think that Sylvanas talks about both her and Anduin situations.
Are Anduin and Sylvanas ever going to just make out already?! I can’t be the only one that sees that tension? Great cinematic.

He needed her perspective and a bit of her sass to help him see the truth. None of what happened was his fault, and hopefully now he can dissect what was and wasn't his feelings but...poor thing, to think that satisfaction was something he couldn't tell if it was his or the Jailer's? what happens if anduin becomes corrupted by old gods and void powers whispers of the void and old gods thus he becomes like arthas and wrathion's father deathwing.
