- Take a tour of former professional dancer and teacher Elizabeth Rose’s innovative stilt house. Sitting pretty above the flood plain on the banks of the River Thames, the timber-clad house, designed by Knox Bhavan, is a lesson in future-proofed architecture that takes cues from its natural surroundings.

A house as beautiful as the owner. I’m in awe
Me too just loved the house. What an elegant place and owner TBS
Beautiful house, beautiful narrative.
What a beautiful house and what a beautiful person - that’s rare!!
Everything about this video is beautiful. Thanking you for helping me learn what I need when designing my own home. Beauty and practicality will be paramount and I will show this video to my architect.
nice house, very convenient
What a beautiful woman. The house mirrors her. The fact that she seems so proud of it and her garden is impressive.
Stunning place. Most people do not consciously realize the impact of the built environment on their well being. Whether it be the space that you live in, the colour and texture of the walls or the amount of natural light in a space. It all affects you one way or the other
Everything about this Home is Simply Exquisite..
Stunning in every sense. I too would live there in a heartbeat. Design, quality, environment and that garden. Hopefully the flooding will not occur again. Oh and the interior design and mid century furniture is impeccable. Thank You for sharing. Appreciated.
Outside is ugly.
I have watched this video more than once. My initial attraction to this house was its visual design, then i realize the reason i wanted to watch it again was the owner Elizabeth. The house is a complete reflection of her graceful beauty and spirit. Listening to her soothing voice speaking about her home, you come to realize that it is not just a thing, but just as her body where her spirit dwells, so to is her home a dwelling place for her beautiful and peaceful spirit. You have a beautiful existence Elizabeth, thank you for sharing it.
The house is absolutely magnificent
Beautiful design and beautifully presented. Isn't it strange that typical building methods haven't changed considerably since Roman times and that designing for the site is still considered unique?
Great, I would have loved to see a floorplan and a little more details, like the name of the architect ….
Just look into the description box below the video. It is designed by Knox Bhavan.
Outstanding amazing in every respect wouldn't have known had it not been your team thank you 🙏
Stunning at every turn. About to build for ourselves and your thinking, the architect’s expression of that, cherishes living and is a lesson for us as we begin.
I love absolutely everything about this house. Watching it in repeat.
same😁
Same.
Very good for the forward thinker. Thanks for sharing and letting us take it in slowly.
Lovely gardens. You can tell the home owner put in a lot of work and love into the grounds and the green house.
Quite simply beautiful in every way
love this house so much!
Your house is 95% according to my tastes and it's beautiful, but you would be more comfortable with a barrier-free environment for the future.
Greetings from Moscow. 🇷🇺
Good gravy! Some of the commentary by the owners of the houses in these videos are so pretentious when they talk. She felt like she was accepted by the place? She feels like belongs there? UGH!!!! It's a nice house and it's yours. That's all!
I guess, if your worldview is everything is just “stuff”.
@@dixieflatline1189 My worldview? I live in a part of the world where there are a lot of homeless people and people who live in cardboard shacks. I think my worldview is a little more realistic than hers.
@@keywordxo5378 That's just how she feels and it's entirely valid.
@@lsamoa i stand by what i said.
I felt the same way with all this "fluff" she said. I can imagine she's rich with a lot of time to "reflect" while the other side of the spectrum people just trying to save a deposit to get "on to the ladder". Just wanted to be "accepted" by the bank for their mortgage approval...
does anyone know what kind of wood the bookcases are? they are so beautiful!
I'd like to know too
i like thank you
Absolutely gorgeous
Wow
Beautiful home, who was the architect?
I was so impressd by the beautiful house and its stunning owner. I kept thinking " how does she protect herself from intruders?" , " how and who cleans the outside of those huge windows? " i loved it though ,it's modern but cozy.
Conceptually looks like
Rumah Melayu in Malaysia
Every lamp in this house is absolutely gorgeous
The view, the garden, the lake💚
Amazing 😻
Soooo beautiful. Such an inspiration!
What Moses would have built in 2022
the perfect mix of enclosed and open, new and old
Очень гармонично! Я бы хотела жить в таком месте.
Жить в городе очень тяжело:(
I love this house….but for me, the wood colour looks orange inside and could have been a bit softer with a lovely lime wash.
Personally, the house is too low and an architect who suggested this height needs to be sacked...it should be at 20 feet minimum to allow clear, unobstructed flow of water and debris...and so water does not impinge on the sub floor and the services like sewer, water, power, gas housed under a floor ...I wouldn't use timber outside, steel is best as timber over time will warp, crack, split and lose integrity if its exposed to water plus its high maintenance and not cost effictive in the long term ... as for the garden imagine replacing that every time it floods, one a year or more...
😻
She is so right building a home that functions for you for when you get older I see so many People build homes with so much stairs so much luxury And amenity's That takes a lot of time to clean I'm gonna be texting on your body when you get over there and they are all All the couples and building homes that's not Architecturally sustainable based on their needs Of future leads
Very scandi.
Lovely MCM furniture
So lovely....
Пересматриваю это видео время от времени. Прекрасный интерьер и замечательная леди позволяют мне успокоиться и задуматься о вечном. На моменте когда по реке проплывает лодка, у меня наворачивается слеза от красоты этого кадра.
Aside of everything, just a question, why steel over concrete for the foundation?
Concrete is porous and will absorb the water into the column which in turn rises up into the sub floor where as steel isn't and its impermeable
So calming and beautiful🤎
Beautiful house! FINALLY someone has had the good sense to rebuild a flood damaged house with FUTURE FLOODING in mind!!
And a bonus for me is that this house is in the UK, so we don't have to listen to an AUSTRALIAN architect constantly harping on about the 'MATERIALITY'
Honestly, if I hear one more Aussie Architect say the word 'materiality' I'm going to SCREEEEEAAM!!
But yeah, This is a really beautiful house.
So many people using wood in their homes, thinking it stylish and chic and just not getting climate change and the absolute need for trees. They are not sustainable. They can be regenerated but that doesn;t hit the mark. that is not good enough. The Thames is flooding because most of the plants and trees have been removed from about and around it. The irony, if not so painful, is poetic. I hope she has a boat!
You grew younger. I love England and know from experience that it's actually mostly sunny, almost all the time, unlike the reputation it has around the world of being grey and rainy. At a glance, your home and garden seemed almost more like homes in say, Australia or New Zealand than what many might expect to see in the South of England. Well done.
That depends where you live, London has the best weather in the country but if you live in the North like Yorkshire or Manchester it's grey and raining 80% of the time
A house bolted to the ground, a few feet above a nearby river... literally the least flood-proof home one could build.
So beautiful! Love that it blends so seemingly into the nature around it. Also so tastefully decorated...
Absolutely stunning. The house has a beautiful calm and peacefulness right through it 🙏🏽
Nice piece Keep your waders by the front door Oct - Apr though!!
Inspiring!
Could you send me the build plan and your Doberman is adorable 😊
The house is heaven, peaceful and beautiful
Better than Mies!

Mid-century modern furniture is now the style of choice for those who hated Modernism in the Eighties.
? MCM is modernism
Floor plan, floor plan, floor plan.
😍 BEAUTIFUL
What a dream
Her accent?
This can be called real life in the nature.
Rich idle people talking about how contented they are with the perfect houses they built for themselves. Give me a break.
There are probably videos of poor busy people talking about how miserable they are if you search for them.
People generally don't get comfortable like this from lives of idleness. She's enjoying a nice life at that age, not simply being idle. Your comment sounds envious.
Does she have to dust/vacuum/clean underneath the house and does the dog accept the being off the ground? My dog cannot cross bridges because she knows there's space underneath :)
Why would she need to clean underneath the house? Do people vacuum their outdoor spaces? Interesting about the dog though.
