    And…. this is my corrected version of the statement :
    “FALCAM’s team have tested the Sony A7M4 and other cage bottom plates separately by installing them to the gimbal stabilizer quick-release plates and there was no shifting nor play. Our initial judgement is that it may be due to the factory's tooling issues that only occur rarely as we have very strict tolerances during manufacturing as well as strict quality control protocols.
    Despite that, we will perform a detailed investigation of this worn cage issue. In order to express our apology, we will send you a new L-Bracket for A7M4 as the replacement. We are very sorry that this happened to you and promise that we will conduct more stringent quality inspections on all the products in the future.”

    You're lucky you received a response at all. That company don't answer emails at all. Either way though I'm not putting my setup on their products.

      Lol.... well... I am testing Smallrig's Hawklock cage right now. Let's see if that stands up to actual use. BTW, Ulanzi wasn't great at replying for the 1st 6mths I sent them a question through multiple channels but they did suddenly or coincidentally reply 3 days after I sent them a link to my video on RUclips. Hehe...

    I just bought the Treeroot tripod kit before watching this video. I was very worried at the start of the video, but now I think FALCAM are a good brand who care about their products and their customers. Thank you for sharing your honest experience.

      Great! Perhaps you can post an update here on how the Tree root tripod head is working for you. Does it have some sort of clamp that applies force onto the camera plate?

    • @michaeljemery
      @michaeljemery 2 месяца назад

      @@quagmire321able Everything snaps into place, and I don't even have to touch the clamp to secure it. It works with the included F38 plate, all my Arca Swiss plates, and my Small Rig Cage. The release lever is large and easy to operate, even with gloves. The head does not work with my old Manfroto plates, but I have already replaced my Manfroto system with all Arca-Swiss compatible gear.

      @@michaeljemery alright... "clicks" is not the best sign... welp... hope they have somehow fixed their system to be more tolerant to wear.

      @@quagmire321able My system is brand new, with no loose or wobbly parts. It is too early to tell how long it will stay that way, but it feels solid enough to last for many years. The only clicking noise I have found is the friction dampening control, and that is supposed to click so you can hear how far you have adjusted it. I like that feature.

    That is the problem with trying to engineer a solution to a simple issue. Arca swiss although slower, is much more straight forward design wise and even manufecturing defects wont affect the usability much.

      @clement3516 I agree but here is hoping they continue to improve this and give us a better & quicker quick-release system :-D

    Since I have ordered a TreeRoot tripod (based on your review), I would like to enter the F38 ecosystem but to be honest the product catalog is quite disconcerting. Regarding the plates, there is the 2268 and the 2270 which is multi-holes, what is the difference? It seems that there are also 3 different plates: the original 2269, the anti-deflect 2401and the new v2 2401A. Which one to get? I have also found a base plate for the Weebill S. Will it be compatible with the Weebill 3E as well? Or can I simply add a 2268 base to the original Weebill 3E? I'm so confused and the Ulanzi website is pretty messy as well.

      Wow... that's a lot of questions in 1 comment. :-P
      Right, the 2268 looks like the base plate + camera plate combo kit and the 2270 is the base plate only. The multi-hole base plate kit (with the standard camera plate) is F38B3404 from what I can see on their website; there is also a multi-hole camera plate which is F38B3810.
      As far as the camera plates, I have standard 2269, the anti-deflect 2401. And it looks like the 2401A is an improved 2401, so you can get that or the 2401. One small thing I discovered recently though... even if I tighten the anti-deflect plates down with quite a lot of force, it can slide *FORWARD* and still loosen. LOL... not great but it doesn't normally happen except when I take my cameras out from my bag.
      For the gimbal plate, I don't recommend using the F38 ones, they aren't cheap and if you plate or cage wears like mine did; your camera will shift on the gimbal. Use Arca-Swiss base-plates, the one from Smallrig is probably one of the best.
      BTW, the 2268 should NOT be used on gimbals, it is a single screw hole on the bottom. You really should have at least 2 screw holes on gimbals. The F38B3810 should work but again... just go with Arca-Swiss. Turning a screw to mount on a gimbal only takes 3-5secs ;-)

    I use the FX3 cage. If I try it with the separately purchased F38, I have the same problem. The cage locks but shakes around. I'm not sure about the F38 because sometimes it slides out on its own. Maybe I'm overloading it.

    • @quagmire321able
      @quagmire321able  2 месяца назад

      Overloading seems unlikely, when the F38 system works well, I don't think any normal camera rig will overload it. If a unworn F38 camera plate works well on the same F38 base-plate, then your cage is... well... worn and needs to be replaced if you want to be secure with a F38 base-plate but remember, even if worn, you can still use a normal Arca-Swiss base-plate to clamp it securely to anything.
