    Man, the barter tip saved my life last night. I had made my way down to the AC camp in upper guk with my new toons. Popped lesson of devoted and was getting 50% xp a kill. 12 lvls later I had no play for spells but a ton of trade skill items. Managed to buy the majority of my spells due to barter. Yay, thanks.

    The Barter tip is awesome. I use it now and I learned about it from you. My biggest tip would be to spend a bit of time working on your UI set up before you start playing for the first time. My UI set up looks nice and clean. Looks like the set up from my days in WoW and Rift so I know where everything is. Then I can copy to new characters so no need to mess with the UI again. This video is very informative and helpful.

    there's also another easy backpack for beginners to get. in pok, there's an npc that has tutorial quests, the bazaar quest (if i'm not mistaken), reward is a 10 slot backpack with 50% weight reduction.

      True. You go to Seclena who is standing right next to a tree tp your right when you zone in from Crescent Reach. You can do it as soon as you start the game in the Gloomingdeep Mines. You don't even have to level. Here are the steps I take:
      - beat the intro monster, get to Glooming Deep.
      - (Optional) speak to the Troll NPC to get the wand that gives you a Spirit of Wolf (run speed boost). I've personally never needed this.
      - run to the tunnel to zone to Crescent Reach
      - Follow the path and about half way down go off the path to your right and go into the city.
      - (optional) Depending on your class, you can either get a very good weapon, or weapon and shield from a quest line from Disgruntled Boawb on the second level)
      - Find the tunnel that leads to the Hollows, Blightshire Moors. It will be marked with signage
      - Get to the Hollows (activate your Spirit of Wolf Wand)
      - Run across the land to a bridge and cross it, go up the hill and zone to Blightshire Moors. Do not attack anything.
      - When you zone, run up the hill, turn to your right and hug the base of the hill on your right. Do not get close to the wildlife, it will kill you!
      - You will find a book on a pedestal, that will zone you to POK.
      - Find Seclana, hail her, it will bring up a TON of quests. Find the one that mentions the Bazaar. Do that quest line.
      - Return to Seclana, hail her, and she will give you an option to SEND you back to the Mines.

    I played a necro from 1999 to 2014. Best game I ever played. That said, I couldn't even imagine going back now after being away for 9 years. My necro is sitting on a server somewhere at level 105 with top tier raid gear.

I was burned out and raiding was not fun anymore with all the hoops of fire they make you go through. I've done everything there is to do notwithstanding the expansions that came out after I left. EQ takes a chunk of time and a lot of work to be good. All my friends are gone and it would take me days to get audio triggers and macros and colors etc all set up again. Should add the mixing bowl tip. They weigh 1/10th of a regular back pack. Are cheaper to buy. And have two additional slots over a backpack. You can buy them in the starting cities or PoK from baking merchants. Replace all your bags, except weight reductions ones, with mixing bowls.

    I played a bard midway up since day #1, when they 'opened the gates' to the EC, and we all ran around and killed massive spiders (which made me scream when one first ran across my screen), and heard a strange sound seconds before we were shredded by a griff (of course we all ran into a building, and it continued to shred us in there!). EQ was brutal, yet so much fun. I was on Mith. Marr, and our GM (Brother Xave?) was always around, keeping us in character. Most everyone was in-character back then, for some reason, by the very nature of seeing ourselves as a sort of creature, in a fantasy setting. Everyone would use some sort of race/setting appropriate "speak", and use the 'hail' gesture, at least. EQ was something so new, that though we weren't on a rp server, the original game creators/GMs liked to see us in-character, and daily would remove people's names that were inappropriate for the setting. The GMs also would create huge events, such as one invasion of the 'evil races' attacking East Commons, and eventually Freeport. They had an insane boss character that would emote 'turns his gaze upon you', and then you'd die. I wanted to go see the fight, zoned in, saw that emote, and leaped into the zone wall again, making it out. Being a bard, I had people 'haunting my dreams' with bribes to go and retrieve their corpses for them. I logged off during that event, and went back after it was all over a couple days later. Our GM would do occasional cruel things like taking the dark elf from N. Ro, and putting him wandering around by the zone to WC. He'd attack my friend and I, and when we'd try to sneak to get our corpses before they decayed, he would come running from elsewhere to kill us again. We each lost several levels (He'd lost level 30, which was quite a 'hell level', I recall), and were still trying to get our bodies 12-14 hours later. It was obvious that.. (is that NPC's name something like 'Kizdjean Gix'?) he wasn't an NPC during that night. He was intelligent, and soooo merciless!! Haha.. he eventually returned, in the morning, to his NPC status in N. Ro. Usually, as a bard, I could outrun most anything.. especially later, when I got my Mistmoor Battle Drums. I loved being a bard, being able to bash on things, if needed, or play my lute, and twist heal and mana and a stun shout. I could run people places twisting speed and levitate. The sheer versatility of the bard was fantastic, which is why I'm so disappointed to find out that they were nerfed to a level of uselessness later on. Do you think that they will try and balance them in the future?

    • @FezzelwhigsForum
      @FezzelwhigsForum  Год назад +1

      I was unaware that they were nerfed, but they seem to be fine now. I want to do a battle video where I have a bard fight against a warrior, then a rogue, and a monk to see how they do. I like doing experiment videos. Also, Thanks for sharing this story. It sounds like you had fun. I met many who RP'd all the time, I was kinda half and half myself.

      @@FezzelwhigsForum Thank *you* so much for answering, and not hollering at me for saying so bloody much. 😆 I adored my bard, my personality gelled with a half-elf misfit as well, and though I had tons of fun hanging out with my higher level buddies, I really wish I would have given Altistin a good shot towards end-game. Later on, I think I got a pally up there. I would love to know how your experiment turns out! I watched a video that said eq2 nerfed bards to death, and they didn't have much to offer any longer. I can't imagine them being *that* nerfed in eq1.

    Hey Fezzelwhig, thank you for all your videos. I played EQ when it came out in 99, swapped to WoW and now I'm playing EQ (free version) currently. I was wondering if you could give me some information about servers, that have a lot of people in them to group / guild with. I miss the social aspect a lot. I saw you other videos "Just me playing EQ" and I'd like to be part of that community again. I played a necro back when the level cap was just 60. I'm still trying to get my head around the new progressive servers. Like what happens if you aren't max level when the next expansion opens? I've been away from EQ for 20 years. I keep going through all your wonderful videos for help and tips (especially macros). Thank you again for all your hard work into these videos and keep them coming!

    Awesome video man! I had a 50ish Rogue like 100 years ago. I quit right before Planes of Power came out & lost my account. How are Rogues doing these days? I loved playing Rogue but I felt really weak & useless most of the time unless I was doing corpse runs for people. I hope ROG is more essential these days?

    • @FezzelwhigsForum
      @FezzelwhigsForum  2 года назад +2

      I can't speak for others, but in my humble opinion Rogues got a nice boost when they added the new poisons. You use them more like potions that give you poison weapon proc buff. They add a good amount of DPS. Also the Assassinate skill is cool. I have 1 shot killed many lvl 75 gnolls. Rogue gets secondary poison too, the secondary poison adds effects like Slow, Snare, or Attack debuff.
