@@torpor8652 Yeah scarlet and beo are getting a little desperate for help right now, a new balance update soon would be really nice for the game. And Aladdin would get his own tier if I wasn’t trying to be a little bit reasonable

Doing good damage with the lightning requires good positioning for both you and your dummies but man is it satisfying seeing 5 dummies explode into lightning and lasers while spamming shield and .

Great video! It was especially helpful that you listed the builds while reviewing each character's spot in the tier list. Would it be possible to share those build images for quick reference? I've already been using your videos for this purpose, but always have to find and pause the video at the specific timestamp :P
This is interesting. I value the early game a lot more. I am very surprised with the Beowulf rank. He has the strongest level 1 with Melusine, three different builds that are all very good, innate healing and armour, and the ability to use many different magical objects. Unsurprisingly, he is used for those insane runs where people complete Nightmare without items or even talents. And his dash build with dash -> Fiery Slash is soooo satisfying.. Similarly, while Aladdin & Piper are insanely strong late, if you are unlucky early, it's just a chore.. Also, their starting talents are a lot more limiting.
@@Paulorrrrrr For me it’s mainly because of my enjoyment of playing him and his build variety outside of the fiery slash build. In my experience other characters have higher ceilings in their damage and boss melts. And a lot of those runs feel like they come down to getting sparkling shield or not which is why we see a lot of Wukong runs with stone monkey
I think there is one more build on snow queen that you didnt mention: her shatter build Take either rupture (better lategame) or frost queen (better earlygame), shattering blast, radiant crown and shatter enemies constantly, protective crown is good defensive value. Other talents you take are to reapply frost efficiently. Freezing stars and hailstorm work really well here because it immediately triggers right after you use shatter. (Making the enemy chilled immediately again) Then from there you choose what to add on to this: some extra power talents, some defense talents, go for a semi dash build by adding slide, the choice is yours. (Kinda stuck going for excalibur/eggs/hungry grass sadly because no other defense boosting methods)
Really want to try this, I mainly look at the power build as the shatter build to get radiant crown and shattering blast to buff the shatters from your power. I haven’t played with freezing stars in a while so it’s one that I’m going to really need to test out again
Fun to watch and see your opinions! It's a favourites list though, not a tier list. I think all tier lists likely will *reflect* the author, but this one is very clearly a favourites list. I'd be interested to hear whether you're abusing the 'broken' stuff, particularly coin. That, along with solo vs co-op, are likely the biggest factors to warp tier lists. Thanks for posting again!
@@xxxxSylphxxxx Yeah it’s tough to make a tier list on this game because every character can be S and every character can be C depending on your run. It does tend to reflect my consistencies with the character and their ability to “break the game” but to your point that is very much a me thing. And for the builds I’ve tried a lot, mainly just wanted to highlight my favorites on characters. But I still seen people do things I’ve never tried and I have at least 40+ runs with each character, it’s always cool to see someone pair something you never would have thought of in this game And for coin I’m not using it as much, a lot of my earlier videos were made to show off specific builds and for that I would focus coin to make sure everything came together but recently I’ve been doing 5x modifier challenge runs and don’t take coin as often. I still focus egg for damage as I use the no healing fountains modifier so ogre blood isn’t great and full damage from excalibur is unlikely with the slower clear speeds from this run. I’ve seen some other tier list that have similar placements but some characters drastically higher or lower for people and I think that’s really cool for passtech and their ability to balance these characters. I do think scarlet needs some help though, I truly think she only has like 2 builds that work with harder modifiers
@@positive4ce For the record, and I'm amazed that I'm saying this, I have more runs than you - well over 100+ runs with every character. That's not to say I know more than you, and I'm sure you're better at the game! I haven't dabbled much with 5 negative modifier runs - I did OCAID with snow queen back before v1, but other than that my focus is on consistency (ie win streaks), and avoiding tactics that I expect to be nerfed if passtech actively maintain balance. To that end, I rarely take a coin. Any time I *do* take one is very rare, maybe once every 10 runs. Since I'm taking them purely for the reroll and not set bonuses or finance gains, they are utterly eclipsed by the horn of plenty (which I feel is probably the best common item right now - 8% crit chance feels SO much better than 10% crit chance for 2 seconds after a dash, and the horn can also be shaped to satisfy other shortcomings, like armour (with or without mirror) or rerolls.) Without coin, egg really doesn't feel problematic to me right now. I'd much rather get a damage increase from a playing card or armour from dragon scale. When playing individual characters, I tend to avoid any builds that feel too strong. Gepetto might be the exception here, since ALL of his somewhat sensible builds feel incredibly powerful; yet still, on a recent 8-character-inclusive random winstreak, my 9th and final character was gepetto, and I lost! :D Perhaps the strongest example of how this 'predicting future nerfs' affects the game is Wukong. While immortality path can make for rather reliably 'stupid OP' playthroughs, and his power skill can be obscene, playing him without taking immortality and de-prioritising power (not taking power-based talents or items unless there's little choice) gives him by *far* the worst win-rate of all characters for me. I do take way of awakening a ton though, for fun-factor! Once you learn that rapid block stuff, it's hard to go back! Similarly, I struggle with piper; when he's not destroying planets with a nuclear chaingun of a pipe, he gets bullied and born down on with little to escape danger! Maybe my penchant for exploding rats is more of a hurdle than I imagine though - it seems like a 'clearly worst' talent, but doesn't feel *much* worse than the rest; I could be wrong! I think the strongest character is Melusine by a country mile. Even without sea dance she might be the strongest for me. With it, she's ridiculous. I'm best suited, though, to snow queen. As well as afforementioned OCAID success, I do nightmare runs with random starting talents, ridiculous 'troll picks' for items and talents, and still have a 100% win rate with her! It's only through seeing tier lists and opinions like this one that I came to understand that she's not so much ridiculously OP, as just a great match for my instincts, and it's cool that passtech have managed to create that kind of rarity in a game's cast. Other mentionable divergences from this list for me would be Beowulf, who I feel is by a *huge* margin the best melee character; and Scarlet, who feels on the weaker side, but quite able, particularly with 'distant explosions'. For items, I have huge problems with coin(/+egg). I think it's doing major damage to the community, and personally know at least 2 players who gave up on ravenswatch after feeling that they'd 'figured it out'. One of them couldn't even list baba yaga's attacks, which speaks volumes to what the imbalance does to homogenise and trivialise the lategame experience across all characters! Without coin/egg, I have an unease about: - Balor's Eye. Since the change, it feels far too powerful in almost any character's hands, and I think if it doubled the cooldown like nightmare thorn/ichor (ie multiplicatively) it would still be amongst the best items. - Bloody Mary's Mirror: Without coins, getting more than 30-ish attack is not common until the final formalities of a run (late, act 3, boss 3, and Saggy Yaggi). The mirror is the only almost guaranteed way to acheive huge damage and guaranteed map clears, and the notion that you have to plan for it by taking armour doesn't ring true - even without the mirror armour is usually the best choice, and just getting armour from books alone is enough to hit 100+ damage with mirror. - - - To a much lesser extent, Holy grail can trivialise a lot of aspects of the game, but doesn't feel OP. Chainmail neither feels OP or powerful, but I feel it negates too many approaches, such as anything involving vitality or armour, to be considered healthy right now. Anyway, excuse my essay! I felt I should get my thoughts written down somewhere, since my main interaction with this game is streaming it on twitch, for many, many hours a week! :D Keep making great videos!
Gotta look through your videos and see if you have any in depth guides to the individual characters. I've been slowly working my way on winning on the higher difficulties with all the characters. I've gotten Snow Queen, Beowolf, Camilla and Melusine done, and now I'm working on Pied Piper. Enjoyment wise, I find him to be one of the most fun just from his voice lines, but I've found the others to be easier so far (except Snow Queen, I had a LOT of trouble with her and had to take a break and play more Camilla) I enjoy Pied Piper, but I've been struggling with him quite a bit. So I'm a lil surprised to see him so high up. (not THAT surprised just from a "I'm losing but I'm still having fun" aspect and when I'm losing I feel like it's cause I screwed up, not cause the game pulled something) but seeing him in S tier when I'd have guessed A tier makes me want to deep dive into him more. Edit: so after this video, I tried focusing more on his power. My build wasn't the attack/special but more trait/special. And I wound up having an easier time against Baba Yaga than any other boss, so apparently I had been sleeping on that special.
@@hazama4478 I have a guide on Carmilla, piper, geppetto, Aladdin, and Wukong (really old and needs to be updated). Pied piper has a really rough level 1 and potentially level 2 based off your talents but scales to be one of the strongest characters in the game (the guide demonstrates this as well as some of the runs I’ve done with him). Because his daytime notes don’t pierce, you should avoid ghoul camps in the day, the barging ghouls will just keep spawning smaller ones and you’ll take a long time to kill them
I feel like melusine is by far the best charactwr because of how well rounded she is. Her damage ceiling is lower than alladin or piper maybe but she has no problems with any camp at all whereas piper has problems with AoE during daytime and alladin attak build takes way longer than melusine to flip crabs. On top of that her damage is great and she has built in sustain, as well as near the best base kit mobility in the game.
Yeah 100%, I feel like every build I have with her can be considered a good build no matter how wrong it goes which might not be true with piper or Aladdin
I'm moving Scarlet up to B and BeoWulf to C. I guess he is a B when you do his fire build haha. Geppeto is an A, but going to a D is fun factor. Carmilla I dominated the first time I played her. After that I struggled so hard to beat the whole game again. Probably the most out of everyone I've played. But I do find her stealth talent extremely fun to play. I'm giving her a B.
@@ItIsYouAreNotYour Very fair, sometimes I dread playing geppetto but other times I find him really engaging. Like the unstable cores build with magnetic hammer and vacuum capsule can be super enjoyable

And against bosses she has problems, and Frost Ray helps. Especially against the first one, when she doesn't have enough damage yet.
@@linsnow2384 Yeah I don’t worry too much about the bosses because I’ll normally die in camps if I do. Snowstorm is amazing with rupture as a starting talent to instantly get chill and vulnerable on enemies, and with shattering blast and radiant crown your shatters deal a lot more damage giving you some of the best AoE in the game. I like the idea of frost ray but think it desperately needs a buff, I did a 4 person run in nightmare and it wasn’t enough to kill a single basic gargoyle in chapter 3

Playing Scarlet sucked. I felt the game wasn't even balanced for solo. I tried Beowul and I actually started making progress. I still dont feel like this game is balanced single player. Like there shouldnt be enemies summoning more enemies whenever you're taking on tanky mobs, that seems like a coop mechanic. And that's the other thing, everything, even weak enemies feel like tanks.
my list hasn't really changed much, I think every character is at least decent, and they're all fun (except beo and queen, they're so boring) (ordered within tiers) SSS: Wukong, Melusine SS: Scarlet, Piper S: Gepetto, Carmilla, Beo A: Snow Queen B: Aladdin
I just hate Aladdin his special sucks and early on your forced to use it. attack building off special just feels bad so you need something to passively stack it. and his power build requires you to be at a distance to get full damage potential and most times you’ll hit another enemy stopping you short. If a certain enemy is deep in a mob he only hits the ones in front. His ult is the weakest in the game hands down. I just don’t like his play style at all. I’d rather play Wukong.
@@mastermeow1582 I think he has the most polarizing playstyle so I get that, I really mesh with his playstyle and love how each talent normally adds to your damage uptime and gives you new opportunities for damage but I get the complaints about him. @ I have to say I play him the least and I wrote the first comment before hearing your thoughts so I’ll have to give him more of a chance. I don’t play on as high a lvl as you do so you’d know more. I just end up doing a money power build so I’ll have to watch your thought process video on him.

Now give us new characters...
@@ItIsYouAreNotYour Very fair, sometimes I dread playing geppetto but other times I find him really engaging. Like the unstable cores build with magnetic hammer and vacuum capsule can be super enjoyable
where do i find builds for this game?
Some people will post their end of game stat screen in the ravenswatch discord, most of my runs are made to show off specific builds as well but there's not really a build source online
Where is the Omnipotence 5 negative mod run?
@@skart1 What’s that? Oh the Wukong ultimate upgrade right
It's actually so sad how much better it is on wukong than aladdin ;-;
@ It sucks that it’s either his consumable or that, if they changed it to something like “every 3rd wish grants a free use of omnipotence” then I could see some viability. Just never gonna take it over consumables
Nice list! I just started playing on PS5 and was just curious what otuer peole thought. You've put in a lot more playtime than I have is only a few days but I honestly think you nailed this list. Carmilla is my fav right now but it still being new to me I enjoy most characters. I am disappointed in Scarlet because she was my first choice to play as (it came out on Thanksgiving for me but has been out forever on PC, so I have been dying to play. I have almost purcahsed a Steam deck multiple times just for this and Hades 2)
@@mattramm1283 I’ve thought of a steam deck for the same reason haha, yeah unfortunate that scarlet isn’t feeling great right now but I play in the highest difficulty with 5 negative modifiers, if you’re not doing that she still feels good
Fun tier list
S tier: Mel, snow queen, aladin, carmilla
A tier: gepetto, scarlet, wukong, piper
F tier: beowulf (boring aaaah character)
Poor Beo, use to be my guy early on but has lost a lot of the fun
@positive4ce wait he was never fun? Always has been (astronaut meme)
I wish there was a scarlet - human form only that didn’t nerf you from the start! I know there is a daytime only mod, but it’s real bad for piped piper who my friend plays in coop lol
@@mdcarson2 Yeah I agree, I really enjoy scarlets gameplay, and would sometimes like to do runs solely as her
Crazy love on piper. Might be time to learn him haha
@@arfzarfz Dude has insane builds but a lot of his better talents come at the higher levels
Great video!. i had some ideas for videos: "Avengers assembled". 5 negative modifiers runs with tim and other players (4)
Actually working on that, talking to a person to be the 4th on it
Just in time for the PS5 release.
Thanks.
Gotcha!
It’s a bummer to see Beowulf so low. I haven’t played this game yet but I’m going to and Beowulf has my interest the most. Female characters would be Snow Queen. Who knows. Maybe I’ll like them. 🤷🏻♂️
@@love2lovesum1 Honestly don’t be discouraged by this, Beowulf was my favorite when starting that game, this mainly just represents my current feelings. And every character can have busted builds in this, I just feel like he has fewer that get to that point but but he’s a lot of fun to learn
@ tried playing the game last night and kept dying. Plus I don’t like that you only have a limited time to get through the level. Just found myself frustrated. Maybe I’ll try again another time but I played on Beowulf & Snow Queen.
@@love2lovesum1 This game is really difficult when you first start, and there’s a big learning curve to becoming more efficient. I wouldn’t try to rush that process but understanding enemy attack patterns, how to run the map and path, and your own characters offensive and defensive capabilities is super important. It took me a long time to feel comfortable running nightmare difficulty in this game so try not to be discouraged from other gameplay or deaths in a run
Hello ) Please tell me, are the talents in the screenshots the most optimal?
@@Alterock Yeah they’re the most optimal part of the specific build, basically what you really want to have by the end but there’s others things that might help out
I love Snow Queen, but don't like Snowstorm.
This ult is good for clearing but bad against bosses.
But the Queen is good at clearing even without it thanks to her AoE abilities.
I love Melusine and yesterday just level up her profieciency to 6
Gonna play tonight with her 2nd ulti Wisp Ballad....Yuhuuu
@@andriwijaya509 2nd ult is amazing for boss damage, probably one of the best in the game besides Carmilla’s blood lash
@positive4ce I love her animation when she sings and summoning water wisps...enchanting and beautiful
Maybe I just fit the gameplay of beowulf, but... jesus this character is so broken when I play him its insane ! Like no joke I roll on the game with him ... 😂
Excited for Hans und Gretel? 😁👍
@@ChocolataCakey Duo character seems really cool but I hope they make each playable solo as well, making content on that might be a struggle and you don’t get the timer to stop in co-op which is normally a really nice feature for learning a character
@@positive4ce maybe first (2)character(s) for local coop? 😮😮
And that's the other thing, everything, even weak enemies feel like tanks.
my list hasn't really changed much, I think every character is at least decent, and they're all fun (except beo and queen, they're so boring)
(ordered within tiers)
SSS: Wukong, Melusine
SS: Scarlet, Piper
S: Gepetto, Carmilla, Beo
A: Snow Queen
B: Aladdin
@@iAmMuu Slander, blasphemy, heresy
But yeah beo and queen enjoyment has started to plummet recently as well
I just hate Aladdin his special sucks and early on your forced to use it. attack building off special just feels bad so you need something to passively stack it. and his power build requires you to be at a distance to get full damage potential and most times you’ll hit another enemy stopping you short.
Though I do think if you can mesh with his playstyle he has some of the highest damage potential in the game
@ I have to say I play him the least and I wrote the first comment before hearing your thoughts so I’ll have to give him more of a chance. I don’t play on as high a lvl as you do so you’d know more. I just end up doing a money power build so I’ll have to watch your thought process video on him.
This game is stupid hard solo
@@tobi_versace It really requires you to learn enemy attack patterns and know your characters kit and I-frames, don’t be discouraged though, I have a ton of hours to get where I am and there wasn’t a lot of guides or tips on the game at that point
The bosses suck! I've been loving Carmilla and can make it to the 3rd boss without dying. Even had 8 feathers one run and i managed to kill 1 hand. The other split it's health and brought it back to life. I died. I was sad! I started over hahaha
@@mattramm1283 They can be pretty fought when starting but they’re the one thing that stays consistent in the game and become a lot easier as you learn the moves and how to position yourself. Claws can be a pain because they’re based of stagger and some characters can really struggle there on the wrong build
I actually find solo and duo are significantly easier.
