- Hodinkee Radio is back! For this pilot episode relaunch of the podcast, three of our editors are chatting the latest releases from Omega, Swatch x Blancpain, and what we want to see from Universal Geneve after its acquisition by Breitling. Then, we engage with the listeners for a game of “Collecting Advice.” Hodinkee Radio will be back on a weekly basis and this is a pilot episode, so let us know what you’d like to see as we return to the airwaves.

This was an incredibly enthralling episode. My one small criticism is I wish Tony, James, and Danny wouldn't gatekeep rumours surrounding Swatch's next collaboration. I understand Hodinkee has relationships to uphold, and I certainly don't expect, nor want them to share privileged information that company executives have shared with them under the expectation of privacy, but gatekeeping rumours seems to cross the line into underserving your audience. I don't see the issue with industry experts using their expertise to speculate on this issue.
On the payroll?
It's a reporter's duty to fearlessly and accurately report, otherwise they are surrendering their independence for a mess of potage ! Breguet seems the most likely next target for the next x Swatch co-operation, among the other Swatch owned brand names.
@@danMdan bro they’re talking about watches they’re not covering the war in Gaza
@@davidb9531 principles which apply in any situation.
@@davidb9531 I'm perfectly aware of that. But ethics are important in any profession. Reporters serving their "customers", and at the same time their info suppliers, are compromised. Cameronmartin719 is spot on with the comments made above.
Finallyyyyyyy. Thanks for bringing this back guys ❤. Always a pleasure to hear James's voice
All looking very smart
Love you all ❤
Welcome back!
A Sinn 556i would be a great graduation watch too. It would fit nicely into his collection.
I would love to see Omega release an updated and modern interpretation of their “dirty dozen” world war 2 military contract watch. A military watch with heritage from D-day to VE Day worn by British troops it would take them in a direction other than the moon watch and highlight other aspects of their history.
Good stuff 😊
The Breitling -UG collaboration recently announced might not be their first. There were some unconfirmed speculation that Breitling provided the movements for the 1960s UG Aerocompax
I would love a Bioceramic Monaco! That would be very cool 🔥
I hope they dont ruin UG. They should take their time
Bring back the watch drafts, please.
What is the watch on the thumbnail?
it looks an universal geneve tri-compax to me.
I think the Swatch claimed to have a Tourbillon called the Diaphane One Carousel Tourbillon….errr….not really as advertised but still a cool watch…
Putting UG at Chopard/skeleton JLC level is a massive mistake. It was never that level of watch and should stay a Rolex/Omega competitor.
More a Tudor and Longines competitor
People who balk at the price of that shuttle speedy need to think to themselves if they have the same reaction towards a similarly priced Daytona that is less impressive on the technical side, starting with the finish. If they value street cred, then sure, Daytona it is, but is that watch as a watch itself worth 15k?
Love the picture inserts. Thank you! But what I love about audio-only podcasts is that awkward pauses or talking over each other can be edited out. Still, for watches, a visual medium is sine qua non, something Fratello stubbornly refuses to do.
Hmmm, I don’t know that a swatch collab constitutes a piece of heritage. I’m on the fence about these swatch/brand thingies.
I don’t look at these models as a Blancpain, just a swatch homage. Also, I feel like it cheapens the brand. But if it happens to introduce the hobby to future watch addicts then good but that hasn’t been my experience with people that prefer inexpensive time pieces, they tend to stay in their price lanes.
Hi, what is a radio?
Put it in hia purse?? What is this guy doing with a purse
With the speedmaster, just hate that running secondhand. Not a cool Saturn 5. I am probably the only one who thinks this, fine, but I just had to say it…
Please stop with all these little kiddy things. Stop with the Spider-Man etc. These movies aren’t even that great to watch, assuming you are the kind of person he’ll spend $10,000 for a watch.
