This bonus round of Sale of the Century would've worked brilliantly as its own game show.
I could think of a title of something like Word Searchers. How about that?
They did something like it for an unsold pilot called matchmates
Sure, if GO could be based off the bonus round of Chain Reaction then why not this one too?
I think the Winner's Big Money game was ridiculous. 3 seconds isn't enough time. They should have more than that. Why did they have to give a response as soon as they hit the plunger?
They did produce a pilot called "Match Mates" in 1987 where the bonus game was fairly similar. While Reg Grundy Productions wasn't able to sell it, they did eventually work it into this show.
He was such a gracious host
Maybe Buzzr will air Rani's run in the future they are doing terrific
Crazy round.Need more time in shows like this and others.
But are all y'all gonna put together a promo video for the month where the Money Game went 2-18 because the budget was super tight and the writers made it nearly impossible to win?
They need to bring this back for 10 wins to a 1mil.
....to be more specific, Pep Rally Week, Tara, Robin and Terry! I am just happy to see the NBC daytime version's cast of models!
Tara made it with the Frank Sinatra solution and was 2 seconds away from the judge saying "time".Glad she won $6,000.
This bonus game reminds me of the password plus board
I really don't know why you're doing the bonus games on SoTC when the
game is usually decided in the 60-second Speed Round. I would prefer to
see those close calls instead.
In what way are these “close calls”? Second dude (at 2:35) had 3 seconds left on the clock, which is an eternity in this bonus format
I never liked this round. I always preferred the shopping round.
That was my favorite format as well.
It's not a terrible game, it just doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the show.
@@marcpower4167 every game show had a bonus round of some sort, and I think the producers wanted this show to have one too. But you're right; the shopping format was much better.
Amongst the nine results that are featured, two of these have been the result of a contestant timing out, erstwhile a third had .006" remaining on my stopwatch. Dangerously close to timing out.
In that Newhart puzzle, I thought the answer was the Three Stooges.
Who wouldn't want a case of $5000
0:14 who thought scooby doo?
How did Jim perry met his wife June
$204,000
Nine seconds for $9,000!
That was incredible, but there's absolutely no margin for error in this round.
@@blindsportsloverNot enough time allowed after hitting plunger. They should have more time than 3 seconds, maybe 5 or 10..
this is sale of tthe century? Different from what i've seen.
The 20 sec bonus round was a later development. I didn't like it

I personally never cared for this bonus game on SOTC. I liked the one where you had to match the prizes on the board.
@@DBR00 that format was good, but I liked the shopping format the best.
@@DBR00 I feel the same way
Either the late Brandon Tartikoff or whoever it was at NBC Daytime came up with this idea, plus competition from Family Feud with the late Ray Combs (Dawson is the best) hurt $ale of the Century
@@blindsportslover I really liked the shopping format too, but I think too many contestants were risking their winning to try for better prizes. Most of them ended up with nothing. So the exec’s had to change the bonus round.
