Richard has been giving talks on non-duality since 2005 and has written four books about it, including the much-loved little classic ‘I Hope You Die Soon’. His fifth book, ‘Confessions of a Seeker’ is about his many years as a spiritual seeker but it also includes chapters on free will, consciousness and religion. It is sometimes extremely funny (one reader laughed so much she had to stop reading it in public places) and sometimes profoundly serious.

“It’s bloody obvious. It is this.” Once seen, an overwhelming sense of familiarity. It’s always been this.

The experience of being an individual that is in relation to everything is an illusion. A distinction can be made between a table and a chair or a table and everything else but without that distinction there is just everything as a whole, or wholeness, which is already free from the need for anything to happen and so is complete, or perfect. There is just absolute freedom. The experience of being an individual can hide this and can be under the impression that it has to do something to bring about or know the freedom that already is. Nothing is being known and everything is already free from the need to be known.
Regardless of what happens including the experience of being an individual there is already everything. Only in the experience of being an individual is there seeking or waiting for something else to be happening. A table for example, that is what is happening but there is absolutely no need for anybody to know that, for anybody to be aware of that, for that to mean anything, or to be put into a story or context of past and future. Whatever is happening is everything; a table is everything, a chair is everything, and whatever is perceived as being in relation to everything or exclusively happening has no effect on that there is everything or wholeness, just as a cloud never affects the sky, the sky is always the same and just as it is regardless of what is seemingly or apparently happening. Time is just an impression based on the perception of movement, there is no time going by there is just movement in timelessness.
The individual can attribute freedom to its own doing or choice as in; seeking for freedom and found freedom, accepted or surrendered to freedom etc. which can be referred to as enlightenment, awakening, liberation etc. However the freedom is regardless of the experience of the individual and so it has nothing to do with the experience of being an individual, nothing can be done to bring the seeker closer to the freedom that is already, instead anything the seeker does is an avoidance of freedom because it doesn’t actually want it as it is the end of it leaving just everything, there is just the absolute which can be called anything but ultimately isn't being called anything and is just as it always already is; whole, complete, and free.

there is no now. you would have to be a person experiencing time for that to be the case :)

"just this" or "now" are dreamt also...everything is a dream even the timeless presence or instant ; as Nizargadatta Maharah said, there is only Parabrahman, the stateless state...so the nearest you can get ,this timeless instant,or the empty fullness is illusory! so non duality is just a dream as well as separation...

There is no seperation. Only a false appearance. Negative space is connected to positive space. How can their be separation?

Cannot 'objectively know' what You are (i.e. pure & indescribable Subjectivity/Context) however, 'you' can know the root of what you're not (i.e. the original supposition or inference; the misinterpreted sensation or feeling felt and thought to be 'I' - prior words) and seeING clearly 'that' (of which You're not) is to remain, as ever, free of 'it' (what you're not), however, if there is not the clear seeing/illumination of what you're not, you will automatically, by default, imagine Yourself (verb) to be looking from 'it' (from what you're not) as a non-existent 'separate' 'terminal' 'volitional' 'pronoun' or 'dreamER' (what's ALREADY not happenING or 'verbING', and not EVEN apparently!)
    - see clearly and easily the stark difference between the 'wet' living actuality of timeless 'BelievING (verb - context) as opposed to a lifeless time-bound 'Belief' (non-existent 'noun') - being as dead as it is temporal - a belief being just as liable to disbelief!
Simply see clearly (without any intellectual discrimination per se or conceptual interpretation) the difference between the boundless activity DreamING (verbING) as opposed to the non-existent 'DreamER' (imaginary 'pronoun' - the purportedly 'bound' i.e. what's NOT happenING!)
    - for a laugh, intellectually, we can ''piss in the wind'' and refer to this indescribable universal reality of pure context as; BeING, or ObservING or BelievING or DreamING (verbING) - 'that' which has no 'I' or 'ObservER' or 'BelievER' or 'DreamER', already non-existent, an unfounded belief.
Nor does 'that' of which we cannot speak depend on a lifeless temporal 'belief' (the hallucination or unsubstantiated inference that 'is' the 'noun', unfound)
