Brilliant knock. I will never forget those horror memory of 2012. In an absolutely flat Australian pitch India's line length and field placing was like that on green pitch in England. Bowlers had pace ,but bowled too outside off or at leg stump, didn't use the crease a lot.

A wonderful innings. I watched this game live. It was frustrating at the start. But as the innings went on I enjoyed watching it. It is always great to see a classical player operating in an innings like this one.
That series was a sheer humiliation for India's ageing test squad and ended the test careers of several greats. Have a feeling the 2024 series will also be the same
I don't think many players would sacrifice a crack at the record books for the good of the team. A great innings from Clarke, but I think he had enough time to score a few more runs, at least till tea. 7 innings should've been enough to bowl India out, the extra hour wouldn't make much of a difference.
I did doubt Clarke as Captain but this proved me wrong completely. What i want is consistency. I don't expect him to get hundreds every innings but when Ponting became captain he scored hundreds quite regularly and then went on to make double hundreds too. Clarke needs to perform like that, make a 50, get a hundred, get a hundred make 150+ even 200.

Ponting scored only 2 hundreds in his last 3 years. Both of them in this series. Every team had found out ponting but this indian team had too much respect for him😂
India's bowling was horrendous in that series. Bowling a full line and too wide outside off. Remember that horror 2012 series where only Kohli got a ton. We had good batsmen but their bowlers were up to the task. The less said about our bowling the better. Nothing to take the credit away from Clarke though. 300+ is no joke. You still have to score those runs and he capitalized on the poor bowling efforts. A marathon innings to dig Australia out of the pit, into the sun and dry India's bowlers out. One for the ages.

To this day I have never seen a batter play better. Nothing India could have done, he was just that good that day, and over that entire summer honestly.
As a kid, this was almost tear - inducing. I remember ending the previous day thinking India might have a slim chance in the morning given that they had taken 3 wickets even though both Ponting and Clarke were set. The next day, I came back from school, saw the score and almost cried.

It was a late career knock from Ponting that steadied the ship after 3 early wickets. Clarke's onside play in this innings was just gorgeous.
