Point Salad is a much easier game to learn/teach than Point City. Both fun. Splendor is a great game, so is Splendor Duel. Bohnanza is SO good! Ticket to Ride has so many different versions (maps). You're sure to find one that you like. If you're playing with little kids I'd suggest TtR Ghost Train. We haven't played Carcassonne in a while. Mists over Carcassonne has piqued my interest. Might look into that one.
    Great video 👍

It seems that your gaming needs are similar to my wife and I. We primarily play together and I am the one who does the research and picks the games. That decision is heavily influenced by whether or not she will play it.
That being said, Ticket to Ride is a must have. I’d say that is the game that got her to start playing, and it holds a special place in our collection. I would get that before Catan only because Catan really requires at least 3 players.
For us, we found that deck builders and engine builders are a hit for both of us. Star Realms and Hero Realms are wonderful head to head deck builders that are inexpensive and tons of fun. Of course Dominion is an excellent game as well, with about 18 expansions at this point.
Splendor Duel is excellent, and arguably better than its big brother. Another good, small box game is Forest Shuffle. Its only downside is that the end game scoring can be a bit of a chore, but it’s worth it.

      Thanks for the comment!!
Yes, our situations sounds pretty spot on! Having said that, you only end up buying the games that will get a lot of use!
So now you've piqued our interest on some of these games! I have my eye on Forest Shuffle...after looking it up, the art got me! I'll leave the point tracking to Shawn! 🤣

Hahahaha!! Best part is that he does the editing, and I advise him what I would add. So he basically makes fun of himself! 😂😂 Neerrrddd!!

I would probably get Inns and Cathedrals first, for Carcassonne. It contains a large meeple worth 2 of the small ones, and new tiles that might double the value of roads and cities.
    Splendor Duel is excellent.
I believe i heard you say that you are from Canada? Likable junkies in Canada, it seems. Big fan of Cowboy Junkies ;)

Thanks for the suggestion. We really enjoy Carcassonne, and imagine an expansion would increase the fun factor! We have heard Splendor Duel is great, will likely be an addition to the collection soon!
We are Canadian, eh! Lol! Who does not like some Sweet Jane?!
