Loved your video I want to start dyeing my own yarn for my own use. How do you get rid of the water moisture from skeins ? Spinner? The colours were beautiful
Thank you! Yes, I use a spin dryer (for laundry), but you can also roll them up in a towel to squeeze out the extra moisture. I’ve used a salad spinner in a crunch, too. 😅
I’ve tie dyed for a living for 7 years now but have never dyed yarn. I just started crocheting and love the look of dyed yarn but it’s a bit pricey so I figured I’d just do it myself. But why do you boil the water? I’ve never done hot dye baths rather I’ve used ice or simply water baths at room temp. I’m assuming your using procion dyes from dharma, that’s actually what I’ve used for years. Love them.
Hello! I hope Allison doesn't mind me answering your comment. I dye yarn too and you need different dye to the stuff you use for cotton. You need to use acid dye, which works with citric acid or vinegar, as well as moisture and heat to set the dye. The dye won't exhaust if you don't use heat with it, which is why she was heating it up ☺ x
@@thecornerofcraft ok gotcha. I use soda ash as a presock on bamboo fiber and cotton. Some procion dyes do suggest using hot or warm water but it's not a must to set the dye. I just ordered some cotton yarn to dye for a sweater project so I was curious. Thank you.
The yarn stays in the water until all the dye has exhausted and the water is clear. The timeframe ranges based on the amount of dye and color of dye itself.
hellp, i know this might be odd but i would rather hear you talk about your process even in a voiceover, the music was ok the first time through but when it repeated it got old real fast.
Hello! I really enjoyed your video! And I would like to share it with russian-speaking audience. Do you think it's okay if I publish your video on my channel with dub in Russian. I'll add a link to your channel in the description box.
I would be happy to include Russian subtitles if you’d be willing to supply them. The amount of talking in this video is very minimal so I don’t think it is necessary to repost with a dubbed version. Thank you for offering, though.
I like the yarn and the music!
I love the merlot color!
Im new to dying in the steamer pans. Does procion dye work like this with cotton for speckling?
I may need to start dyeing my own yarns o:
what kind of yard do you use, please?
Great video!

Did it make it more tonal/more varigation to start with a cool bath, or did it make the colour more even across the skein?
so pretty 😀where did you get the undyed yarn?
Thank you! The answer to that is a business secret. :)
@@LoftyLoopsYarns Ah I see. THX anyway.
Hi did you just speckled one side of the wool
What do you use to wash/rinse your yarn?
Water and either dish soap or wool wash.
Great work! I would like to ask something. For how long did you soak the yarn in the boiling water with dye?
The yarn stays in the water until all the dye has exhausted and the water is clear. The timeframe ranges based on the amount of dye and color of dye itself.
Hi. How to turn cotton yarn in white color?
what kind of powder color you used for the colors?

Do you wear a mask when using the powders?
Cara Dayhoff Yes, I always wear a mask! I’ve got another video coming soon where I go into that in further detail! 🤗
