the XD9 Sub Compact is like a Glock HYBRID , has the heavy duty recoil system like the Glock Gen4 , Ambi mag release , factory steel combat sights , take down lever , smooth trigger pull , no finger grooves like the Glock Gen 5, a very well made solid pistol , one of the best sub compact pistols still available in CA. 👍
I just picked up a xd9 subcompact mod 2 today with one 16 round mag for 330 out the door went to range with 150 rounds of 115 grain jhp and noe in love with this gun looks like my fn503 and m&p9 will be in safe except for range days now. Great video and just subscribed
I had a buddy who had the sub-compact 9mm. Since then I have always wanted one. I finally got an xdm elite 9mm osp compact. Great gun. I will likely get the standard xd in various sizes later, so that the whole house can carry if need be. Keep it coming, brother. Good stuff.
I've had my Springfield XD-9 Sub-Compact for I think about 16 years but anyway, it's my EDC that whole time unless I need the P238 for even greater concealability. Nothing in that time has inspired me to upgrade/replace it. LIke you, in over 1000 rounds, which is a lot for a non-sponsored RUclipsr, I have Never had a failure to load/extract/eject or fire. I love the grip and fit and all the lamented safeties, especially since I first got it with 2 kindergarten kids who love to climb over and grab at Daddy, then had another child newborn since I had it who's a teenager now. So people can clown the grip safety, cocked striker indicator, loaded chamber indicator if they want but having to hold that grip to rack the slide or definitely to keep a kid from poking the trigger up is a godsend. Love my XD and they will probably always be the family I carry unless and untill anybody else makes something with all the features in one package that fits me and I like as much.
Some of the older pistol models become iconic and do not need to be improved! The goal is to keep them functional and safe to use…but the most important thing is knowing how to use them and how to avoid having to use them! 😎👍
Springfield in general has always been one of my personal favorites. I’ve had just about every 1911 they have made and still have 3-4. My ex wife bought me the the XDM 45 for Xmas 7-8 years ago and I just picked up the XDM 9 with the threaded barrel. Both full size and for the money I love them both. Never carried a light on my every day carry, but I was having a rough time finding a decent holster but I came across a nice Blackhawk but it only worked with the TLR-1 HL so I picked one up and it grew on me quick. 1000 lumens gold in color and matches the desert tan color of the gun.
I’ve been carrying the XD-9 Subcompact for about 4 years now. I love the gun. It’s a little on the heavier side compared to other compact pistols but it’s not too bad. I would love to give the Hellcat a try but unfortunately I live in California. 🙄
I have had mine 1 year lol, but its never jammed nor my service model, glock however... lol lets just say even if I tried to limp wrist an xd with shit ammo it will still shoot but my g17 can be ammo picky and stove piped on the 27th round ever shot from a limpwrist I suspect but still, 27th round ever shot and it fails...
Nice review! Especially nice to hear your report on 7 years of use. The Mod2 does have a couple parts in the slide that do not interchange with the original but most do.
I used to carry one of these in 40. It was very reliable but i had a tendency to accidentally lock the slide back while firing due to slide lock placement. It was annoying having to change my grip for one gun as i didn't have that problem with any other gun I've owned before or since. It was a little snappy with 40 cal as well. Not painful or anything but enough to slow my splits noticeably. Still an overall solid choice (for the time).
I'm glad to see this review there's not many reviews on this pistol I have the same one everybody is on the Glock train Glocks are okay but they're not all that I have a Glock 17 but my EDC is my XD9 sub
Heck yeah! That's why we love what we do. Not everybody may use it, but if we can help one person, then it's all worth it. Check out some of our other content for amazing EDC belts and holsters!
I just shot the 4 inch barrel version today and it’s EXCELLENT. I need practice with it but damn such a good gun. Bummer there was no subcompact version for the 9 as a rental though.
Update: I shot this sub compact in May 2023. There 's a 90% chance I might get this. It's recoil is somewhat of a challenge but manageable enough for me to practice more. Hand fatigue lasted less than 5 seconds for me after shooting 50+ rounds. After resting, I went ahead and did it. No discomfort. I was able to hit the bullseye a few times. I'm confident I can do better next time. It'll be this gun AND a Glock 19 (or Glock 23 if I can manage a .40 cal) for me in the future at least.
If you're still alive, turners has a deal if you purchase a firearm, you get an XD in 3" or 4" for 329.99. check out turners weekly ads on their website.
I understand...i have xdm elite 4.5", shot around 5000 rounds, all kinds of ammo, homemade and originals, not a single malfunction, cleaned it every 1000 rounds, so this gun is actually a beast,Croats know how to make a good handgun 😁
The biggest difference now is that he is training a lot more with it than when he first got it. Not everybody has the money or time to blow through ammo as quickly as you may want.
I wish I could say the same, I’m currently waiting 2-4 weeks for Springfield to repair mines. I carry a Glock 26 now but the XD 40 subcompact was my first EDC, so I gotta keep it forever for the memories. 🥲💯

Love the Mod 2's! Can't beat it for the price! Thanks for the feedback! Glad you joined the Herd! Enjoy your new purchase! 🤘😎

If it isn’t broken, no need to fix it!
We agree the best offense is a good defense.
@j ward Succinctly; Well said!

Yep that’s the gun I have owned for about 12 years now. Operates and looks like the day I bought it. Great weapon 👍🏻
Just an awesome firearm!!! U can't go wrong with SA. That is one of my favorite guns to conceal carry. Good video and respect to SA.

@@KurtisB I just turned 21 and went to the gun shop yesterday they got the hellcat on display and said they are coming in mid december
@@KurtisB Ended up going with a sun compact tho 9mm
I agree, have one since 2014. No issues ever, works fine.
I've had mine for 14 years. Never had a jam either. I also put talon grips on it...well worth it to improve your grip. Nice review.

@@Imakebootysclap My girlfriend is tiny...loves the xd because it never jams despite her naturally limp wrists. Glocks...not so much.
I have the 4" service model. Only put 50 or so rounds through it and it fires like butter.
Great video gentlemen!
Nice review! Especially nice to hear your report on 7 years of use. The Mod2 does have a couple parts in the slide that do not interchange with the original but most do.
Thank you for watching, also the information!
Nice! Just got this with talon grips and tlr-6
They discontinued the mod 2.

Can't wait to film the Canik
Both of them!
I've had mine since 2004. Just haven't shot or wore it much.
How is it for pocket carry?
I definitely wouldn't pocket carry. It can fit in big pockets but it is very bulky for a pocket gun. I would recommend IWB holster!
I own the 40cal and damn that thing is accurate for a short barrel
Is there a way you can drop the link for the enhanced grip, love the video I actually just bought this as my first gun!
The grips are call Talon Grips

So sir if you had that sub-compact as your first gun, this might become my first gun too if it stays legal in CA.

X-cellent revieweD.
Wait.. what? 7 years and only 1000 rounds? That's really not that many rounds. Just my opinion though. Love the platform.
Training was a huge concern in his early 20s. He's put a lot more through it in the last 2 years.
Nice
YOU'VE PUT A THOUSAND ROUNDS THROUGH A GUN IN SEVEN YEARS?????
Yes sir. Training wasn't the main concern for his early 20s.
