I have the Holtz G660 which is the clone of the MS 660. I bought it for chainsaw milling mostly, but I do use it on big logs as well. The higher CC saws are handy to have and an OEM saw of that size is spendy. I would only suggest buying them from a dealer in your area so you have support in case there are issues. My dealer went through my saw and loc tite all the bolts that usually come loose and breaks them in as well so it was ready to go when I got it. Great video, thanks for sharing it with us!
II do not have a G372XP but I built a 372XP this spring for my 50th Wedding Anniversary present to myself. It is a great saw. I do have a few Husqvarna parts on it but it is almost 100% bone stock. I did replace the carb with a Walbro 12b and the gas tank gasket with a Husqvarna gasket, but that’s it. It starts up in a flash and runs and cuts fine. I originally fitted it with a 24 inch Oregon bar but replaced it with a 20 inch, later, full house chain, of course.
@@96cr I have built six Farmertec saws and all of them run, fine. Agree with you about the decos and carbs - they suck. I have Stihl carbs on most of my saws and deco valves, too. Any new saw requires some degree of tinkering. I have never owned a Holzforma built saw, so I do not know about them. I did buy one short block from Farmertec and it leaked like a sieve from the base gasket. I put a new gasket on it and sealed it up with 1184 but have not put it on a saw, yet. It is a ms 361 short block and should be ok, now. I will probably sell it.
I bought one to use commercially. It lasted about 7 months and then I stopped trying to keep up with the problems. Stihl and Husqvarnas will easily last me 5 years or more without problems.
I'm curious what it's going to run like after 5 gallons of gas has been run through it? I bought a brand new echo cs7310 p I ran 5 gallons of gas through it! Thankful after tankful of gas! I have a CS 800 P echo with a 32-in bar it's 6 years old! Has ran flawless. I bought it used! 400 bucks! I can tear into a wood pile with both chainsaws keep the change sharpened regular maintenance! They run perfect.
I've run this same saw a couple years now and the carb failed after the first tank. Put an OEM carb on and since I've run about 30 gallons through it and it's still runs great.
Clicked on it because the title said it was going to be a review of the saw. Instead we got to see a replacement start recoil get installed not once, not twice, but three times! What a waste of time.
I just found your channel a couple days ago! I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work! I'm curious to see how long that Chinese clone will hold up! I'm talking like crankshaft the bearing piston carburetor. The main thing is the block! How many cards of firewood can you cut with them? Day after day. Put a good bar and chain on it! Keep fresh gas premium. Will the carburetors hold up. Things like that. I would buy one in a heartbeat. Would like a little heads up though. Before I buy one. Chinese clone chainsaws.
Well Stanley, I am glad you found the channel. And you are like the #1 commenter for sure. yeah like I said time will tell about the G372xp. What I can say at this point in time is my 545 has been down and my 350 is not running right. It has been my daily driver and has been working great. I do plan to get back in the woods soon. This week I have been selling and delivering wood like mad. Have a great day.
I run either Oregon LGX or Stihl RS chains. I don’t run junk chains. I have their 25 inch bar on my MS 440 and I have their 28 inch big Stihl 28 inch bar hanging up in the shop. I just don’t like toting big bars around.due to their extra weight when a 29 inch will get the job done.
I also cut firewood for people around my area. I’m from the upper peninsula of Michigan. Right around Powers Michigan. I bought a g660 from justsenditsaws. Still patiently waiting to get it. I bought mine for $365. And they break it in for me.
I've had both of my g372s for over a year now. And I don't treat a saw nicely. I seem to get a lot of ashwood standing dead. Most of it's 30-in rounds. Some of it up to 60 in. I haven't seen a live ash tree here in Ohio in 12 years. That's why I had my big chainsaws.
Yeah same here our Ash has been hit hard. I think it was you that had said you had not seen a live Ash in a long time before. I have same still living in my woods. I may do a video of them do people can see them one more time. Have a good one.
I’m here in Hinckley, OH and I have lots of dead Ash. I had 7 large Ash trees cut down last Summer and cut them up for firewood. I have several more dead ones waiting to fall down and a few more on the ground waiting to be bucked. I have a few that are still living.
I'm always curious! I want to know how things run! How long will it last! Maybe you should get a old 372 that's worn out! Take all the covers off of it and put it on those 372 Chinese chainsaws
I've got a g372xp that has around 10 gallons of gas through it and it has been great. I accidentally dropped a 20" poplar on it about 2 months after I got it. All it did was bent the handle a $9 fix and we went back to work. My buddy ran it over with the truck last week and bent the handle again. So gotta get another smh. I like it so much that I ordered a g444 and a 32" tsumura bar. So far I have a little over a tank through the 444.
@@BossFirewoodandHomesteading send me that starter and I will fix it for you. It is a pretty simple piece of equipment. The only thing that can give you problems is the spring. The rest of it is pretty simple. I never had any problem with the starter. I wish Husky used T27 bolts, so mynT wrench would fit them. I understand the latest Husky saws do use T27 bolts. I keep plenty of them around, since I built a half dozen Farmertec Stihl saws before I built the 372. I did put the XT air filter and top cover on my 372. It was a simple replacement. I did have the ID plate on the 372 engraved “372Xp” “CLARKE” and “SN 41121” on the space it allows for three lines. The serial number is our anniversary date. Hope you get a lot of wood cut and split because it is going to be a long, cold winter.
@@johnclarke6647 Hey John, that is awesome that the date is the same as your anniversary. I have fixed both of my pull start covers now and the orange one has exploded and torn the pull cord. @@BossFirewoodandHomesteading is the saw popping on you when you pull it? I have that problem with some of my Farmertec Stihl saws. They have tried to take my arm off more than once. I did replace the deco valve on my 372 with a husky deco valve. The 372 does not have a problem with it firing early, like the Stihl saws that locate the deco valve in the dome of the cylinder. The location of the husky deco valve is in the side of the cylinder with only a small hole into the cylinder area. Putting a Walbro 12b would also probably help. My ms 460 has broke several starter ropes, including a Stihl Pro Elastomer start rope. It pulled the rope right out of the Stihl handle. I put a D ring on it and it broke the rope, twice. My 360, 440 and 660 are puppy dogs. The 460 is a beast. Try pulling it without using the deco valve. That helps and they are actually easier to start if you can pull them over.
@@BossFirewoodandHomesteading if you tear up a pull cord on a push mower. It generally means one of two things - the valve clearance is wrong and overriding the decompression bump on the cam - or- you have partially sheared the flywheel key and it is firing out of time. This is why I check my mowers valve clearance, periodically. It s not a complicated procedure. You ought to have had to adjust the valve lash on small block Chevy engines, as I did as a boy. You ended up with a face full of hot oil because the push rods were hollow and hot oil went, everywhere. At least you can do the valve adjustment on small engines with the engine off. You can knock your engine out of time by letting the blade contact a unmovable object, like a stump or concrete block or walkway. Besides bending the blade it can damage the engine.

Hey good morning Stanley. I guess only time will tell. I payed about 400 for the saw. For a real Husky 372 xp would have been over 1000 so to me the price was right. I would say it has close to 5 gallons through now but I have not kept an accurate account of the gas usage. Have a good day.
