I listened to this twice, it was so full of deep, important guidance and understanding. Fr Josh from my church turned me onto your podcast and it has helped me, a former Protestant who recently turned to orthodox tradition and teaching. I am overwhelmed at what I missed all those decades in a dry and confused church environment! Our Father rescued me from that, praise God. Now I drink in the wisdom and tradition offered by so many amazing priests who are teaching online, like you guys. You both are guiding many like myself in your service to God. What a precious resource your podcast is to us. 🙏
Plato's rolling head story seemed a pretty good allegory for how useless the head is without the body. My own head, operating alome, DOES get stuck in ruts, and sometimes the only possible answer is stand up and go outside. I wonder, do the Fathers have any thoughts on Schrödinger's views on what life is in "What Is Life?" He describes an ordering force, responsible for keeping entropy at bay. I think he thought that was something, not somebody, but it's an ordering principle.

I wish you could explain it simple enough for a 2 year old to understand it so a simpleton like me could get it. I'll have to repay this one a few times.
Wait… was that a Modest Mouse reference at 40:38? Never Ending Math Equation- “And the plants and the animals, they are linked And the plants and the animals eat each other"
I'm surprised that you didn't bring up the understanding of Hindu and Buddhist reincarnation , which says a soul that goes through myriad incarnations doesn't have to be human, and in fact, the only thing that passes through to the next "life" is the karmic consequences (*not* the memories, or personality) of the soul. That's got to be a fun debate
