Personally, I prefer flying the Neucom special, since my lv cap increase forms are gathering dust. I got my hands on the standard XFA-27 (2 months' worth of credit earnings disappears, never bought stocked fuel as stocked feul comes to me at times), rather not have the Scarface because I feel more comfortable flying end-game planes of my own. R-101, on the other hand, I seek to fly under the manufacturer's colors to show my dedication into the AC3 JP I played as a child. For AC2, I fly a standard XFA-27 to prove my mettle.
It's still being played, but I can observe that being on the really bottom can be a problem for new players, as their planes are severely outmatched compared to even players of the 1600-1700 match range. Special aircraft drops puts them to low-mid or high-mid depending on the upgrades, setting, and play style. Also, the game usually allows you the maximum of 3 flights per 12 hours (1 of 3 fuel per 4 hours), making further flights require the finite stocked fuel pool. I never spent anything to this game, and the stocked fuel stockpiling is slow and steady. My aircraft in use are Lv 8 F15C Pixy and Lv 7 Rafale M Vent d'Ange, which I have used and have seen no further upgrades for a months due to my credit pooling for the end-tier planes. As I invested more into the parts tree than planes, I prioritize on homing, then second to speed or power.

This game focuses on online play above all else. No matter how tempting it gets, best keep distance on the team deathmatch events until you have a good fighter plane to go toe-to-toe. The XFA-27 would you say is more worth it than the R-101 or not because first I will get the X-02 leveled up a little bit, just bought it, and then start heading for one of them currently through the F-35 line.
How come Ace Combat hasn't created yet another F-19, like every other game that has fake planes? It sorta makes sense, seeing how Northrop Grumman skipped 19 (the FA-18 was 18) and went straight to 20 with their F-20 Tigershark. They practically left the F-19 designation for Hollywood.
late response but in AC3 the ailerons work the same way. The r103 has a canard like wing, being itself a control surface, acting as ailerons and elevators too.

This was EXACTLY how i felt about getting my ADF - 01 Falken. i miss this game.

Ace Combat 3 was the best back then with multiple endings and factions to choose. I wish they redo AC3

There never was one in AC3, I believe. That's why one view looked a bit greener than the other when he was switching views, here.
the green tint is the cockpit because the r-101 uses an actual coffin/ensi system
