To be fair, most of ACI's planes are variants, too. It's just that it makes up for it with more superplanes, playable bombers, WW2 fighters and AC3 craft.

It's time to convince Bandai Namco and Project Aces to, in addition to three machines with a seasonal pass, give even more aircraft to the AC7. And in four tranches: Ace Combat Infinity Stars (Su-27, Su-24, Su-25TM, F-5E, F-20A, Tornado, F-16F, Gripen C, MiG-35D, F-15SE, FB- 22, F-35A, F-35B and EA-18G), real world fighters (Rafale C and B, F-16 Block 70/72 and development versions of MiG-29), future (Rafale F4, Typhoon Centurion, Tempest and hybrid F-22/F-35) and unrealized machines (F-15N Sea Eagle, F-22N Sea Raptor and F-22B). And also the ability to give your own tail codes and tactical numbers. By the way, great work @knightvalfodr.
Although the parts system was stupid OP, man I miss how grand the battles were. Also, at a lesser degree, the parts made lower tier planes feel good...

I miss this game, it was the only actual badass plane game on PS3. I've played a lot of Free to play games, and I can say that this one was the best one, because the player was not forced to pay to get contents. I remember I had farmed so much fuel with the daily challenges, that I couldn't even manage to finish it before the servers got closed. Without using the shop I've managed to use a Lv. 9 or 10 XFA-27, one of the best models of the game, full of animations of tails and wings. I've seen a lot of dedication with this game, I'm still sad that they didn't put a final mission to the single player campaign, but still, it's the only F2P game that actually got also Singleplayer contents.
Honestly, i want an ace combat 8 with all of these planes. (I know that that's a bit too much to ask but it just something I'd really like to see, let a man dream.)
I wish they had put the unbuilt ST-21 Super TomCat in Ace Combat 5 it could have been a special secret unlock plane. Even better it could have been introduced at the end of the game as a plane that just entered full production or four prototypes offered to the Razgriz Squadron by the president after his rescue.
Look, Namco, I see what you did here. Maybe no one else sees it, but I see it. All those planes you stuck in the game that we’d been asking for, for years that we wanted to see make appearances and even some of the ones we wanted to see remade with better graphical capabilities, adding it all into a game that was primarily online with little emphasis on a single player campaign and a lot of micro transactions. What happened to all those planes in Ace Combat 7, huh? Where’s all that cool shit in Ace Combat 7, huh?!

How did the harrier work? Did it just not stall and the nozzles pointed down when other aircraft would have? Did the nozzle movement make low speed high turns incredibly quick?

Given the length of time between releases they will probably put out as much dlc as they can to max out profit. Might have to wait a year though.
