This is a painting by Caravaggio depicting Judith and Holofernes. He was a general who besieged her town, got drunk and passed out, then was beheaded by Judith and a servant.
There's another painting that is basically the same. I forgot the other artists name but it's basically the same except there was no old lady it was a younger lady and it's also the same art style.
I came here just for the facial reactions and I am not disappointed. Confusion, excitement, bewilderment, etc - it's a f'kn rollercoaster. Nice reaction vid, my dude.
I feel asleep the other night listening to the EP (i'm weird it's relaxing to sleep to metal) but I woke up at around 6:14, sweating and had nightmares. that end piano part was scary af to wake up to it was so trippy.
Dude. MIRAR is fucking amazing. So cool that you covered them. A genre that needs more love for sure. This is probably the last track that I would have shown you on the EP so it’s sick people like different tracks😎
Caravaggio’s “Judith Beheading Holofernes” 1599 is based on the biblical story of a woman named Judith casting her deception on the Syrian general Holofernes. She got him drunk and proceeded to behead him. Worthwhile for the art in which the music is adapted.
For this song specifically, I think the Carvaggio painting is like perfect artwork to compliment the theme of the sound. That painting is fucking brutal, and so is this song.
I was on a bus going work when youtube music algorithm gave me this. I never been felt so satisfied in my life that there was Mirar the most and heaviest band I've listened to. I can feel the power inside my veins on every songs played. Just wow
That was actually pretty goddamn heavy. Reminded me of early, early OLD-oldschool metalcore, without the screeching and then replaced with darkness. Eerie, before times. Interesting. It's like Make Them Suffer's parents met Trent Reznor for coffee once.
I love the whole ep. The whole thing is built around taking parts from certain classical pieces and exploding them out, and it's just the most hellish shit. I'm pretty sure they're playing in drop-E, with pitch shifting on certain parts, so every riff sounds like a demon growl and every drum hit sounds like a bomb
???? Say word? Any time stamps? Villains/Yüth are still the best lyrics menta health wise, super raw! I can't really listen to it without it reminding me of baaaaaad times 😂
Bro I was describing the image to my girlfriend in the exact same way and she was like "did you just smoke weed?" And I said "no I just listened to this album and stared at the art and it fucked my life up" she replied "ok honey 90 day fiance is on tonight..." Like how the fuck do you not care what I just went through?!
"What. is. going on. right now?" lmaooooooo Dude reminded me of that old vine where the stoner dude is like "you ever wonder like... what... is... goin on?" The album is unique each song has different aspects but is heavy as hell . 😄 you listend to the last song of the album which was brutal an bit dark. Yet the whole album flowed in a unique way. I call it boss music in few songs ligit sounds like a game you enter the boss chamber an you defeat it an it starts to play a song in laten an its darker more warped an slowly in singing an the bosses HP goes to max . 😄 The main cover of the album is gnarly . like I joked with my mom an said it prob was Italy an he did the treachery of putting ketchup in the pasta an on the pizza without any ligit tomato sauce or so . an they prob were like that sin cannot be unpunished . 😂 Idk I think the guy in the painting did prob Atrocity's . just dk as it looked like old erra so back then things were crazy as heck .I just love the creativity they put in the album . an I appreciate the review Jake keep up the awesome job 😊
Do you take requests or just listen to what you feel like? If you just take requests just off comments, would you check out the song "Only The Rain Will Remember I was There" by Balmora? they are an old school metalcore revival band and i think you would really like them.
This is something the band Primitive Man would pull, honestly. But they will gonna on the extra to go lower. Just add Ethan McCarthy's(the band's vocalist) "gates of hell-ish" doomy vocals and all hell breaks loose from here. 😅
intro: suspense 1 breakdown 2 even harder breakdown 3 even fcking harder breakdown Interlude: someones in my house and the lights are flickering end: i need therapy
The piano parts sounds like I imagine dementia is like. Overall a 10 out of 10 on the very creepy scale. Is the guy getting his head clipped John The Baptist?
You gotta do the whole Mirar Mare EP. It's a gateway to so many visceral emotions.
Agreed, the whole ep is worth anyone's attention
it is fricking heavy probably the heaviest EP released so far this year/2024
Also hell...
Hestehov 🥲
Glad they were able to use bridge cables for guitar strings
This is a painting by Caravaggio depicting Judith and Holofernes. He was a general who besieged her town, got drunk and passed out, then was beheaded by Judith and a servant.
Noice
I think it's a good depiction of mother Teresa telling a younger woman to behead this man. That was my first thought when I saw that artwork.
There's another painting that is basically the same. I forgot the other artists name but it's basically the same except there was no old lady it was a younger lady and it's also the same art style.
@@kenid0t these two are pictured in many Renaissance works (and later). You may be thinking of one of the Gentileschi versions.
Thanks Poindexter
This is exactly what my friends hear when I play bon jovi in the car.
😂😂

Ah, you're a fan of Bon Jovi's obscure early material as well? Good choice
You play Bon Jovi in your car, and you have friends??!!!
was the aux loose?

it brought me so much joy watching Jake make the same face as my wife does when i show her August Burns Red songs lmaoooo
This band and track is amazing
Going off your picture of blatant demonic symbolism I can see why you would connect with it lol. Kudos.

This honestly might be my song of the year this ep blew my mind mirar is so good every song makes you feel something
Whenever a Se7en remake is made, here are your opening and ending credits song.
Ahh hopefully they never remake that ! Great movie 📦
Oh noooooo…. What’s in the BLEHHHHH?!?!

Homie, your voice keeps aging like fine wine. Love what you're doing
Thanks for the support 🎉
Hey Jake! Thanks for dropping by in Granby!!!
First time i heard this i was stanking so HARD my face hurt after the album
These guys are the future. The artwork they use is always on point.

Rose bonbon goes hard as hell that Edm-esque thall march is wild
Facts. And I adore the ending riff of Hestehov.
@@scrptar129 this whole EP is 30mins of pure bliss
My favorite is definitely Oslo, the pounding of the drums right after the half way point sounds like a hellish orgasm to my ears lol
The only artist that ever made me feel unsettled while listening is Nemertines. This artist finally gave me that feeling again. Shit is awesome
Consider STALAGG. 😇
cauchemar means nightmare in french. pretty spot on
For this song specifically, I think the Carvaggio painting is like perfect artwork to compliment the theme of the sound. That painting is fucking brutal, and so is this song.
Fun fact: Caravaggio painted himself into that image. He's being beheaded. Metal af

war of the worlds tripod horns don't got nothing on this LMAO
This is the soundtrack to the Rumbling its my headcanon now
Thanks to "Ripley" I instantly recognized that painting as a Caravaggio.
Is it not the beheading of John the Baptist?
Awesome show
This whole ep is nonsense. I love it.

I reacted the same way. I said "This was composed by demons, this is hell."

It full tells a story effin crazy

Jake you gotta check out Boundaries my guy
It's a heavy "sound" . . . .. like an eerie construction site, but I'll take Meshuggah or WhiteChapel any day over screech, crash, bang, scrape.
Yep, that what I envision hell sounds like.
This is the soundtrack to the downstairs painter in “Spaced”
Comment game on point.
You need to listen to this whole album. It's probably my favorite release this year. Besides the Kendrick and Drake beef and Eminem
You should listen to Lisette by Mirar if you think this is heavy.
I use this song as a lullaby. It calms the mind. 😂
It's like Doom Eternal and Sinisiter soundtrack married. It's perfection.
Do you do requests for donations???
To my knowledge the painting is from, or based from, the French revolution. This is a French and Norwegian duo
Love the Kublai Khan hat!
everyones reacting to 'cauchemar' (because its terrifying) but i think 'franka' is a better first impression of the EP or 'degenese' as a band
"Old people do get those big ears"
