  • There's cruelty in telling single dwellers to only celebrate holidays with people in our household. I, Regina Rodriguez-Martin, break it down for those who pretend that celebrating the holidays with the family you live with is a strategy that will work for everyone (I mean jesus...)

It's amazing how people can weaponize loneliness and use it against friends and/or family as a way to isolate and alienate someone whom they disagree with or dislike. I've experienced this from my own family members and thus have been ostracized by them as a result.
I've thus empowered myself and am on my own quest to build my own circle ⭕ of friends and one day meet a spiritually and emotionally compatible woman 👠♀️ whom I can share my life with and keep expanding my social circle with her in turn.

Thank you for sharing this Regina. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm trying to listen and learn. Peace.

I am sorry this was so hard for you. I spend all my time alone and rarely go out. My family died years before covid and my parkinson's has made making new friends near impossible. . You are indeed lucky to have your people. Hope you are back to celebrating.

Nope, not back to celebrating. I’m unvaccinated and I’ve lost friends since 2020. Also Chicago is particularly paranoid about the virus and people still don’t like leaving their homes. It’s very hard to make friends here and I’m actually lonelier now than in 2020. So it goes.

Our political beliefs are very different but this pandemic has affected everyone and I’m sorry to hear how difficult it has been for you. Are things better in Chicago now? I hope you spend Christmas with some good friends! I enjoyed your blog post about your vaccination status - keep writing and posting here!! 🎄🎁

Having lived alone for more than two decades, I can identify. Invisibilizing single households - as well as those without houses even - is definitely cruel. Therefore I avoid all holiday media propaganda during the entire year. It hurts less.

Seriela, I wish I could make the decision to avoid all holiday propaganda, but Christmas is my favorite and I can't cut it out of my life. I'll try to enjoy the holidays with a friend who is also a single-woman-no-kids. She's agreed to spend the day with me, which helps a LOT. I hope you find fun and peace this season.

It's political. the Governor has a family and probably will see their friends but don't want anyone to know that.

I have listened to you a couple of times ,and I like what I have heard. But my dear lovely lady please don't use God's name in vain. I love The Lord and it hurts me when I hear His name disrespected.I would like to be able to listen to you with out the fear of that happening.Thank you and God bless you.
