Listening again and again and again leads me to conclude also that Magalí deserves extra props for including the "Tennessee Waltz," somewhat of an homage to her SAJB past. I wish her pals would pick a favorite old chestnut (or two) and do the same. She gets even more credit for actually providing lyrics to "My Favorite Things" that are not geared toward preschoolers. (About time someone did.) Of course, my aging ears didn't catch all the lyrics -- but enough. And, as a I infer below, I consider Iscle his generation's Thelonious Monk, waiting for the rest of the jazz world to make him an overnight success.
My opinion: Extremely talented musicians but choice of music could not be worse. They are going nowhere with this style because the number of people that actually like it can probably be counted on 1 hand. Magali needs somebody to sit her down and find out what she wants to achieve in life. If she listens , she could bring music to millions instead of the 5 people who like this style..
Could be what she wants in life is that she wants to be creative in her own way and not not play condescending shlock. If you know the difference and you play crap you may satisfy your wallet ,ego and millions but probably not your true self. It's a choice you make. I'm very happy to be one of the 5 that like it but I'v only been a professional jazz and studio musician for 50 yrs . I am my most knowledgable and my toughest critic on musicality and execution so I just play to please myself-"hope you like it" Unfortunately it's a very strange attitude these days and most of the commercial music I hear reflects that BTW ALL styles of music can be very appealing when played well and with sincerity.
Well said, zangsax. Magalí writes great pop songs, some with English lyrics that surpass many native speakers. She melds back into jazz big band mode with her SAJB pals and controls the flow with her bass. That she can match that genius brother of hers note for note on the frontier of musical discovery is just another indication of her own genius. This is really excellent stuff. Authentic and sincere. Every now and then, the public catches up with the insights of our trailblazers. We can hope.
Magalí does what she wants and deems appropriate, like anyone would want to do with their life. And I am also one of those "five" that you say, I hate commercial music (pure garbage) and I prefer a million times Magalí and her friends Andrea Motis, Eva Fernández, Rita Payés and Alba Armengou than all the Rosalías and similar celebrities. They will never be based on the dollar but they don't need it to be happy or to make the millions of her fans around the world happy (millions, yes, no matter how uninformed you are. As an example, Joan Chamorro's channel has more than 250,000 subscribers. Those are "slightly" more than the five you say).
Such a beautiful woman and human being !!!
If I had to decide, next Grammys would go to Magali and Rita ! Of course her brother is congenial !

So much talent. Y'all wowed that crowd -- and anyone else who listens. Merci beaucoup.

Oh really??? Please find someone to "sit down with", and look into what you might be missing out on.
