- I did it! I finally did it! After almost 4 years of going natural without any major heat styling, I decided to straighten my hair! In order to do so, I had to find someone I trusted. I was introduced to stylist, Dani Priester about a year ago by one of my closest friends and we’ve kept in touch since. I kept going back and forth about whether or not I wanted to do it, and finally decided to pull the trigger. And I’m glad I did! It felt great to finally see the full length of my hair-shrinkage is very real!
Dani took good care of my hair throughout the process and I’ll definitely be back. I also highly recommend her services. Dani’s salon, Haus of Beauty is located in New Jersey, but Dani travels quite often as a hair stylist.

Trust me!!!!!!!! I know that feeling of wanting to do it just ONCE!!! All it takes is one time 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ My first silk press damaged 4.5 years of growth and the stylist specialized in natural hair 🙄🙄. I now have plenty of videos of my hair straightened so whenever I feel tempted I’ll go back and watch and then get over it 🤣🤣🤣 Anywhoooo your hair turned out beautifully 💕😉 thanks for sharing!!!

Go with home blow dry. You don't need to go any further. I do that and it is just great. Plus u can take the drier abroad
You will not get heat damage if you use heat protection you need to educate yourself on that . i ordered to get a great trim to need silk press out .
Straighten it on low heat. I’ve learned that I can straighten my hair at like 3500. I thought I have to have it at 450. Use good products and you will be good. Also, stretch before straightening it so that the flat iron doesn’t do all of the work.
It’s so satisfying seeing her section your hair out after she washed it most hairstylist just take a comb or a brush and start going at it without even Sectioning out the thickness of the hair
I literally can't wait to get to a salon again just so I can have someone else wash my hair! Lol

Your fro looked amazing before the process. Your silk press looks fantastic. And your husband's reaction was hilarious.
One way I've seen stylists reduce heat usage when silk pressing is by doing a roller set on clients where they can go straight in with the flat iron.

...Just straightened my natural hair this morning... Surprised that the 2 1/2 inches I had cut of 2 mths ago has grown back... Hair down my back... I was so shocked at the shrinkage after I had done half my head... The shrinkage IS very real...

I love that she detangled the hair after deep conditioning with heat, but before rinsing the deep conditioner out. That's how I do it at home, but at the salons I've been to they detangle after rinsing out the treatment.
Right! She really made sure not to skip any steps and took her time, it was great!
I got the best straightened hair I’ve ever had recently when my stylist, a curl specialist who was doing this for me as a gift, asked me to come after deep conditioning + detangling my hair the same day. Of course, I detangled right after deep conditioning with heat and before rinsing it out. I’m really glad that she respected my own knowledge of my hair-and with her gentle work it was an all-around great experience. This is also the longest I’ve had a heat style last without doing anything besides touch ups on certain areas every week.

@@nphowe three weeks so far! I use dry shampoo to clean and tie a grocery bag over my silk bonnet when showering. I take long showers, so it’s pretty cool that it has withstood that as well. I think deep conditioning correctly beforehand is a key factor.

Beautiful. How do you get your natural hair to fall forward? Is it length and training?
When it’s curly? I usually make sure to style it so that it falls forward when wet and have it dry that way
I don't personally do any form of wigs or clip ins but that micro link was wooow and your hair omgosh like i have done her blow dry process on my hair sort of i just leave in braids and let air dry then blow dry so same concept in a way but when she blow dryed I'm like well your hair might as well be straight lol and your husbands reaction 😂😂i feel same way you did got to tell people to touch it so they know its yours

She does have an install! She let me know to tell you that it’s a custom wig she made, 30 inches of relaxed straight texture hair that she crimped with a crimping iron ❤️
The trim is the best part of the video! Next time have a white cape and include that part of the process…please. ❤️
